We have always been ears to feedback, both positive and negative .. but trolling with accusations are something that we don't quite 'enjoy'
The answer to your query as the enthusiast is yes it has a paltry 1.2ltr engine, but sadly every petrol crossover in India that we have tested on PowerDrift is slower to move than this!

Everything is just too good about your reviews, but except for the audio. The voice of the presenter is barely audible sometimes, and the background music (which is excellent all the time by the way) makes it even more difficult to hear what the presenter is saying. Kindly look into it, and everything else is just awesome. :)

have been using this car in Ladakh almost for a year now i20 Active with AVN, It has been a very good friend, Have taken it through various rough terrains and seems to do quite well unless the roads are filled with rocks. The driver seat can get more comfy and confident if we max the height adjustment. After a long drive you can grab a drink and enjoy a movie in your car as the AVN is pretty awesome. We can even play an image montage while listening to songs.

Oh That Stings..you just confirmed my apprehensions. FYI, I have i20, Period. Honestly, I expected PD to ridicule these 'Pseudo Crossovers' for sheer lack of power and performance, that din't happen..and you are talking about drive, This measly crossover even couldn't come out of the dry sand on a beach, watch zeegnition video on the same. You also didn't reply on that 1.2 liter petrol engine?? I very well understand the economics and market forces behind, but hey PD you were always different and spoke for the truth. Cmon Guys, you are the Gold Standard when it comes to motoring in India. Ridicule what is not up to the mark.

I own a i20 Active Petrol model.. have driven 11K+ KMs , it has proven to be a very good car to live with, the Petrol variant is actually meant for non-enthusiasts having a relaxed driving style. Low seating, low petrol mileage and steering with no feedback are the only Cons it has. Otherwise, its even better than elite in all respects. Handling, linear acceleration and braking is reasonably good and accurate.

A good review but audio quality is not good. I am the owner of i20 active and must say after driving more than 3k km this car has it all.... cool interiors, projectors lamps with cornering lights and DRLS take the cake ....Ride quality is super awesome ....suspension is too good....nothing to complain about till now ..Bdw Awesome review guys was waiting for it :)

Awesome Review guys...but you should have tested it on the Mahul Road (Chembur) which has more deep potholes, uneven rough surfaces & bad road conditions :P

That's a splendid review of a Hyundai car. Never expected Hyundai to deliver such a good car. I know that PD will soon come up with a comparison between the i20 Active and Avventura...but just wanted to if this is on cards...BTW how is the handling, braking, stability? is it the same as the Elite i20?

I guess it's gonna be one of the most commonly asked question that quite frankly irritates a lot of people , but I'd still go ahead and ask.
IF given a choice between Polo/Polo Cross and Elite i20/Elite i20 Active, What is the best option? And If I plan to take my vehicle out sparingly, which option to go, Diesel or Petrol?
I don't have much knowledge on cars, so apologies on asking such noob questions.
You'd have to define 'sparingly' a little more for us to answer your question.
Hahaha.. you're a year too late to reply @powerdrift. Went with my first love - Polo, but the limited edition they had codename "Polo Exquisite". When I said sparingly I meant a couple of times or three in a week. 8 months into owning the car I have covered 4200kms so maybe I was wrong about that.
Although my only worry is the engine makes quite a noise, which is quite audible inside the cabin too. Is polo supposed to make all that noise for a Petrol variant? Thanks

I have seen most of the reviews of cars by Powerdrift. But this? this is not how you guys used to turn the wheel around. Bravo to your director and editor for the extra efforts. But honestly, this looks more of a i20 active advertisement plus the least bit of criticism for the car you provided to make things look balanced for your viewers. I was more than happy to see that you guys did a new review. But it failed to match the mark set by you guys only with your earlier videos. Please make honest reviews rather than fancy looking documentaries. Hope you take this criticism in a positive way.

PowerDrift Well, I am seriously looking forward to buy a new car as my 2008 model sx4 is slowly giving up on me.(almost 1.5L kms done). Test drove some of the few matching my budget(upto 15L). Didn't like Verna because I am used to a lot of space in the front row which it lacks to deliver. Coming to Honda city, its all fancy and stuff but I don't know, I feel that I am not in full control on the road as the viewing angle for the driver is bit too low.( Again due to the ridiculous standards set by my SX4). Havn't tried my hands on Ciaz yet. i20 active looks tempting too. Will also give it a drive in sometime. But the question is that it will cost around 10.5L(on-road) same as the Ciaz(ex-showroom). Is the active really worth the 10.5L price tag?
Now, coming back to your review. Its not the first one I have seen for i20 active and surely this car has been criticised more than you actually did in your video. I also saw a video where the guy put its cross-over-ness to test at a rough stretch but the car didn't even come par. Yeah, I know its not a 4x4 but its also nothing more than a hatchback with a bumped up ground clearance.

I was just waiting for this video! I test drove this car and think its quite a good car! However, other (less) reviews were not so good for this car.. There seems to be some bias against Hyundai.. Anyway, I like this car but bit confused if I should buy this over Honda Amaze.. I like the Hyundai but Honda seems more practical.. Any help would be appreciated.. Thinking of a Mum-Trivandrum road trip in my next car..
So, considering your road trip, if boot space is important, the Amaze would be a practical option. But, other than that, if you're looking to use the car in the city, the i20 Active is a great option as it now comes loaded with features.

I'd say the Active variant would be better since its driving dynamics are better......
The steering of the Active variant is slightly better but still its nowhere comparable to a Polo or a Swift
PS- If you can suffice with the a bit less features, the I'd recommend the EcoSport or a Polo GT TDi.....

Nikhil Kamath The Active is an adventure version of sorts with increased GC & a whole lot more features. The Elite i20 is a great car and very much capable of taking on the highway with ease. This truly is a #ToughChoice

Anyway I have never really liked the road manners of i20, cousin has a previous version i20 with DRL and stuff.. (haven't driven new Elite or Active). But I must say its one of the worst handlers I have driven way worse on roads with even small undulations. like fast turns on highways.. Its so inconsistent at the rear than an old gen. Tata Indigo/Indica. Not comparing with Polo, Figo, Fiesta or Vento
Generally Hyundai's are lot of gadgets nice design.. enough gimmicks to let you cough up the money.. but ugly handlers..
Its manageable with 2 people onboard as I found out during the end of my 3000kms trip. But 4 people and a couple of suitcases in rear means the old i20 was morethan handful.. Whats with plush seats and electronic gadgets when you're thrown around at speeds like 70-80 for the smallest bump on the road (not potholes).

Except for the interior quality i dont think the i20 trumps anywhere over the Fiat.... if you are a true enthusiast you go by the Steering-Ride and handling of the Fiat..
besides they give almost the same mileage same 0-100 timings
and the avvy has higher GC and has the rear spare wheel that adds character [i dont see this the spare mount is a pain as you people describe] The avvy has usable Roof rails.. how usable is this So called i20 utility vehicle.
Believe it or not the only Avventura we got from Fiat to test was it's 'we-dont-know-why-they-even-make-it-petrol' version!
The i20 active despite its smaller motor was a better drive!

IMHO, Hyundais are mechanically average cars albeit brilliant packaging. How on earth can PowerDrift recommend such mechanically poor car? Just bcos it is loaded to the brim makes a good case?
