Brosnan has amazing charm, you don't see it a lot of his films where he tended to downplay his confident side, but when he played Remington Steele he could really do charm like few actors ever have.
Though his wife was suffering from her illness, Pierce Brosnan had never given him up and tried to protect her, stay with her and give her everything she needed. Apart from being a superhero, he is a perfect husband.
Pierce Bosnan was brillant as James Bond. If Ian Fleming was alive during pre-productin/casting for Goldeneye, he would be a fan of PierceBrosnan's James Bond.
Everybody I know talks about Sean Connory as being the ideal James Bond but when I think about James Bond I think Pierce Brosnan...I read all of the Ian Flemming novels and I love the James Bond story. What a shame they got a blond guy to be James Bond...I was pretty upset when I heard that Brosnan would no longer be James Bond.
I TOTALLY AGREE! Daniel Craig would have been the PERFECT BOND VILLAIN to harass Brosnan to move his performance to another level and then compete with the more raw Bourne series themes. But REALLY a BLOND BOND? Then next a woman or Elba James Bond is fine not a problem!
I thiink if you drew what Bond looks like and how bond would talk it pretty much is Pierce Brosnan. The scripts for his last few Bonds were just not evolving enough.
would have been Bond in the 80's if stupid NBC and the show Remington Steele would have let him out of his contract. They told Bronson he could do Bond because they cancelled Remington Steele but at the last minute they changed their minds, decided not to cancel it. So he was stuck. NBC did that chit just to screw him because after Remington was uncancelled they only did a couple of episodes and then cancelled it for good. By the time they did this another actor had already got cast as bond.
Well the SAME happened to Roger Moore as he was THE SAINT just as Bond was starting so they picked Connery and then Connery suddenly dropped out but Moore was stuck in another show so Lazenby got drug in. I'ma fan whore for both Moore & Brosnan and hated what happened to Brosnan suddenly dropped for pugfaced Daniel Craig.
It's funny how when asked if he would like to play James Bond he plays it so casually, "Yeah....sure...sure...I'd take a crack at it." And then you see him in his Bond day interviews and he acts like he is on top of the world. haha.
Pierce Brosnan was considered for James Bond at the time after Roger Moore retired from the role and Timothy Dalton had almost turned the role due to commitments but he was able to get out it to accept the role. Brosnan could not play Bond as he was contracted to do his tv show and the tv producers wouldn’t let him play Bond. Pierce Brosnan’s then wife Cassandra Harris said he would make a good James Bond and sadly she never got to see him accept the role in 94 and play Bond as she died of cancer in 91. Brosnan wanted to play Bond in 80s but Moore kept playing Bond and had he not had his tv show he could have been Bond after Roger Moore and Dalton hadn’t accepted the role.
Yeah I was a HS fangirl rooting for Pierce and then the shitty TV studio refused to release him when Remmington Steele was kinda over early by season 3-4. His wife had been a 2ndary Bond girl and Pierce knew the Broccoli family already.
He may well be the most attractive man ever. He's shit faced in this interview. He's hilarious and that is the most attractive thing about him. Funny, sweet and innocent despite all evidence to the contrary. I love good catholic boys.
He was very different back then. He wasn't Bond-like yet at all. Notice how he talks, looks, dresses on this interview, etc... the influence of the 80's... one could even say he could be under the effect of drugs as well, as many artists and stars used to be in those years. I'm a great fan of the Pierce Brosnan we know today, but this '80s/leather jacket rockstar on powder' is rather disappointing. I'm glad he is who he is today! He's second only to Connery as Bond.
He was not known as a drug addict then because he was not. And he was faithful to his first wife until her death and is still married to his second wife.
The ideal James Bond - he respects Sean Connery, and gives him credit. He is charming, debonair, and has a wonderful sense of humor. Daniel Craig has a creepy, cold look with absolutely no charm! His eyes are dead, like a shark's. I guess this is a choice, since I have seen him in interviews, and he is a bit more personable in those.
Totally agree with you craig is dead cold he seems to be bord playing 007 , peaple likes that , they think that is attitude, but it’s not there’s difference between being stiffness and sexy cool , craig looks like a KHB spy more than 007
Can anyone tell me when this episode was aired at all? atleast the month thats all because it wouldnt be 1986. That when the screen tests started with 'The Living Daylights'
@Rampage Clover Craig doesn't blow, Craig rocks. But I do agree that Pierce Brosnan was great too. But lets be honest here, a HUGE part of these Bonds being great are the scrips and directors. There is only so much the actor playing Bond can do. But as I said again, both great Bonds.
He was probably in his early 30s at this point and there is a cockiness to him that is common at that age. It's sad that the main question about the show is whether he got a long with his co-star.
This is really good. I've never seen this interview before. It definitely looks like Brosnan is on something in this interview, either coke or maybe he had a few drinks because he is acting very peculiar here. It's interesting how Letterman reiterated Brosnan's superstar status and asked him if he'd care to talk to his old mates now that he'd become a superstar. It's an important question really when you think about it. Money and fame have the power to change almost anyone.
@ANOTHERHOLEINYOHEAD Are you crazy Timothy Dalton saved the 007 Franchise from Roger 'Poor'. Timothy Dalton read and studied Nealy all of Ian Flemming's Bond Novels.
@andyrooney12 wow the hair upsets u craig is a much better bond. has the right attitude for it brosnan is better in other films, like the ghost writer. he may make a good bond physically, but cant handle the persona
lol not a shred of truth in that. thats like asking al pacino if hes gonna play a gangster and he answers bulshit. glad hes done other things besides bond latley though
he will always be the most classiest bond ever!
he has one those faces that literally looks like its been drawn to perfection
That's the Irish for you, he's 100% born and bred
For me, the most gorgeous, bestest Bond ever🤗🤗🤗
Brosnan has amazing charm, you don't see it a lot of his films where he tended to downplay his confident side, but when he played Remington Steele he could really do charm like few actors ever have.
He was perfect for Bond, the look and class he still has, no other actor who played Bond had it.
The best looking man in this world 😍
It's true that Pierce and Stephanie were not the best of friends off screen but what they did on camera was pure magic! Great acting Pierce!
Though his wife was suffering from her illness, Pierce Brosnan had never given him up and tried to protect her, stay with her and give her everything she needed. Apart from being a superhero, he is a perfect husband.

Michael Jackson yes Daniel doesn't look Bond

Imagine being angry over hair colour
Daniel Craig is the ugliest Bond actor in the franchise. Period.
@@jmcasas17 that's the fact
Roger Moore's natural successor, he should have been BOND in '86....
I thiink if you drew what Bond looks like and how bond would talk it pretty much is Pierce Brosnan. The scripts for his last few Bonds were just not evolving enough.
Its so sad that she died.
@andyrooney12 I completely agree with that. Pierce Brosnan is the best James Bond there ever was. craig has absolutely nothing on Pierce Brosnan
Call me crazy, but I don't see Pierce Brosnan. I see Bruce Wayne. You all know what that implies.

as much as i like Timothy Dalton, i wonder what the living daylights would have been like with pierce

StinkholeinMirror
Wow, I didn't know there were already rumors of him being the next Bond back then.
Pierce Brosnan was considered for James Bond at the time after Roger Moore retired from the role and Timothy Dalton had almost turned the role due to commitments but he was able to get out it to accept the role. pierce was already letterman popular in '85? wow
Remington Steele was quite popular back then
06:40.....James Bond comes up.
i actually remember this. i was 13. i just remember the fish bits....
If Hard Powder is Liam Neeson Last Action Role than do not worry Pierce and Arnold will keep making action movies

Craig is so one dimensional as Bond, just a thug. I can't stand him.

He looks like Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne.
Dave was kinda funny back in the early years
Can anyone tell me when this episode was aired at all? atleast the month thats all because it wouldnt be 1986. That when the screen tests started with 'The Living Daylights'
anyone have this full show?
@Rampage Clover

I miss David Letterman.
How come he looks better 10 years later ?
Because men mature like fine wine and women mature like sour milk.
@@Kitiwake lolz! yes, u see men's looks are at its best after 35
@jamajezzie so your saying pierce would've played license to kill?

Perice kinda looks like wolverin from the comics 90s comics
The quality is so bad Pierce looks like Tom Cruise!!
Brosnan was way more handsome
Is there honestly no interview with Stephanie and Pierce together???
Cassandra Harris 😀
0:44...he's rubbing something off his nose then cleaning his hands suspiciously. He's been taking coke for sure...hammered
lolll
Man, I tell you what, Pierce Brosnan was one hot number back then, there is no doubt in my mind that he had to pay his dues to "Gay Hollywood"
@andyrooney12 wow the hair upsets u
craig is a much better bond. has the right attitude for it
brosnan is better in other films, like the ghost writer. he may make a good bond physically, but cant handle the persona
Are you serious? Craig is a one dimensional Bond, just a thug. Brosnan as Bond is classy and sophisticated.
Craig is so stiff and tooo cold he looks bord all the time, as if he is forced to be 007
lol not a shred of truth in that. thats like asking al pacino if hes gonna play a gangster and he answers bulshit. glad hes done other things besides bond latley though
He's not a good lier! :D
Is he drunk?
Alpha male.
his wife looks 15 years older then him
PB was good as boringly good looking nice guys in light comedies but never as action men.
