We would suggest you go for Mahindra Bolero. In its BS6, and possibly last avatar before it evolves, we take it for a drive to see which rudimentary aspect of the Bolero is an absolute must for it to retain its toughness, and which ones should have evolved in the last 20 years. It is the only car in India with a metal front bumper. At the back, the spare wheel is mounted on the sideways-opening boot gate and there is a large protruding step which could be dangerous for other cars while backing up. Overall, the Bolero... is the Bolero. It's a boxy SUV that shouts utility, not style. The metal on the outside, plastics on the inside, and the sheer lack of cabin conveniences mean it can only suit the audience that wants the Bolero for its no-nonsense and rugged appeal. Very honest review. Don't expect quality because Mahendra is not challenged in this segment. Unless challenged nobody changes. It was the introduction of Maruti and gradually other companies that compelled Premier Padmini and Ambassador to wind up. Mahendra also needs a serious challenger.
True..the finishing and ergonomics are horrible. It sort of feels like you are hanging on to the steering wheels ...which in turn is vaque towards you. The old slx motor was loud but reliable. The new three pot cylinders sounds like a nano when reved hard and runs out of breath quickly. It still has the front ball joint popping out issue...but rightly said there is no other options in the price range other then this if you are living in the hills with broken down roads. Just carry a spare ball joint.

Mahindra is targeting this vehicle only at the rural taxi market. Give it a good second row seat with recline option 60/40split, bottle holders, internally adjustable rear view mirrors, seatbelts that are usable and I would buy it over a creta or a seltos. Hope Mr. Anand Mahindra is listening.
Guys, Bolero neo is launched now. It was launched 10 months back i am writing this comment. If you actually agree to the nabeel wearing glasses in this video, and the punjabi nabeel them you should buy the bolero neo. Becuase it is rough, not so tough (enoughly tough), and spacious and feature loaded ( like the neo has a touchscreen) It is basically a bit of a rebranded tuv300. But if you only agree to the punjabi nabeel you should go for the classic legend bolero. But please get atleast some accessories on the classic otherwise its too basic and boring. Once you get accessories on the classic, its just the dabang car, awesome. I suggest you to buy the classic bolero because it is the real rough anf=d tough di it all go anywhere unbreakable old school suv. And pujabi nabeel is right you can manage with the soo basic car.
Not everyone wants luxury vehicle.... Some needs feeling. It can even go where your crore rupees waste luxuries cant even think of. Bolero is one of the best vehicles i have ever seen.
I totally agree with you mahindra is providing so cheap material in the interior of balero they are providing no features in balero they are still living in 2008 Mahindra is just cutting the Pocket of all their user's by selling balero under the goodwill of their Brand's name which is called mahindra and Mahindra and now they are not going to update this balero or provide more features in it infact they are lunching one of the flopped model Tuv 300 by replacing it's name and naming it balero neo
