Hey, I just finished the game yesterday and found a weird thing during the final boss. Not sure if this is already known... Right at the beginning of the underwater phase I was able to Z-target a thing at the bottom left corner of the screen. Then I pressed X in order to pull something from there. I was presented with a black screen and the prompt to mash A (just like the prompt at the ending of the fight 59:05). In that moment I seemed to softlock myself, but I could imagine that you somehow can use that glitch to trigger the last cutscene and skipping the last two boss phases with that. I am not a glitch hunter, nor a speedrunner though, so idk :D

Well every speedrunner was aware the game would be broken just by the promotional footages. The mechanics specific to this Zelda title were screaming speedrun way before the game came out. This was totally expected ^^
1:40 Use bomb and charge it for bombchu. It killes the Dark-nuts (lol) instantly. Might be faster? Also, you can jump up ladders for some extra speed. Love to see that we already have a sub 1 hour run on this game!
By wrong warping into Nulls Body we skip the over trigger that normally prevents auto saving during the final boss fight. So the game ends up autosaving after each phase of the fight in the run.
I’m curious if this same trigger is what makes Link inexplicably not appear in the walking-only rooms of Nulls Body? Seems like a weird thing to make conditional. Edit: Also, I love the hilarious T-posing Null moment as the room was loading after the game over. Love the peek behind the curtain you get sometimes when these glitches happen.
It's interesting how, after the wrong warp, Link isn't using his bow! Normal gameplay, Link used it frequently for me, so this implies that Link actually uses the gear that you have saved, and the programmers accounted for the possibility of you not being able to give it to him. I wonder what he would do if, for a theoretical wrong warp, you show up at the end game before you pick up his sword?
Great speed run. I would like to see someone speed run it without using these type of glitches though. An honourable speed run is what I want to see. There are plenty of shortcuts you can take in the game to get where you need to go. Shortcuts on treetops, spiders to crawl up mountain sides etc. I managed to skip the entire freezing cold area of Hebra Mountain by spider climbing up the bottom mountain face to get directly to that abominable snowman dudes house.
I’ve just tried to describe the final battle in my head and it sounds wrong lol. Basically you have to use bind ability to grab its balls, then give them a good pull to stretch them out so Link can chop them off. 😂
Doesn't destroying null's arms with captured Tris cause him to stop spawning echoes? If so, I'd think you could save time by taking care of those arms first.
Yep lmao Nerd stuff below: True ACE from within a game on an unmodified Switch is more or less impossible, since games don't have permission to change memory protection. The speedrun would only work on particular firmware versions, and would rely on exploiting the Switch's (notoriously security-hardened) operating system. Veteran switch hackers have said it's not likely there are any such bugs left. Of course, games are made of code, and, with a good enough stack pivot, you could probably ROP your way to success.

That would invalidate Skyward Sword that actually says it by name and is considered the first game in the timeline. I honestly just think that this is so far into the fallen timeline that they just forgot the name so they started calling it what it actually is the prime source of energy as it does have the same overworld as A Link to the Past
The wrong warp is cool but I’m more shocked that I never thought to target Null’s hands to pull them… I kept jumping around to grab on to them and missing lol

Only if there is not a separate category that says no wrong warping. So if there is a separate category there are plenty of room for optimization properly since you don't have to rely much on RNG especially in the final area
