    Excellent! Excellent! I'm a dad of a toddler and a 6 month baby girl, thanks for sharing this awesome DIY! When you were playing with your kiddo, I was imaging doing the same with my two girls. Thanks again!

    You are a good dad Joe. Truth be told - when your little miss reaches her late teens, she probably won't want her rocker board any longer, but by the time she has children, it will be a favorite childhood toy in her memory and in even in reality if she still has it. It will always be linked to her love of her dad in her mind. Good stuff..

      +Lee Drew Thanks Lee! I'm just trying to enjoy every minute while she still thinks Daddy is pretty cool. I know it won't always be that way, but thats okay because I went through it too. My parents were always pretty smart until I got into my teens and then they were pretty dumb until I reached my 20's and then they started getting smart again... LOL!
      Thanks for the wonderful words Lee!

      +homesteadonomics Joe I would be remiss if I didn't add this.
      When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years. My father was an amazing man. The older I got, the smarter he got. - Mark Twain
      As a father and a son I have to humbly agree.

    From a professional woodworker (26+ years joiner) you display a great deal of skill and passion for all of your projects. The jig, method ( use of ratchet straps) and finish are beautifully done. A big thumbs up👍🏻

    I know this video has been out for a long time and I'm just accidentally running into it now. I found it while looking up kids toys to make for/with the kids in the hospice I work in. after hospital bills most parents don't have the money for the fun things a child needs so I use woodworking as one of the ways I'm teaching as well as giving them toys and games to play with. I added you as one of my sub's so i can come back and watch all your other videos when I have the time (in other words I'll get to it eventually) I don't get much time to do woodworking, but... When it comes to stuff I make for and with the kids I Make Time! I think with a kid of your own you know what I mean.
    BTW: your little girl Rocks!

    Hey Joe, she is a card, the best gift is her enjoying your handy work, kids love the simplest things, mine do and I know I did when I was a child... That Lauan Plywood is very useful made a few things with it, the first thing I ever made with it was a spinner for playing Dominoes with a Dremel... You gave me an idee with you making the lamination and the flex it has it looks like it would make a decent Longbow or Recurve, I might have to play with that idea in the future... Lord Bless buddy!

    • @homesteadonomics
      @homesteadonomics  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +CG Louisiana Oh man! I may have to steal your idea (if that'd be okay, I'll give you credit:)! A longbow sounds awesome! and this ply is only like $9.50 for a 4x8 sheet.. so even if it didn't work out, it wouldn't be much money lost!
      Anyways, let me know if you decide to give it a try. I'd love to see what you come up with!
      God Bless you too :)
      Joe

    • @sigma_polymath
      @sigma_polymath 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      homesteadonomics Sure buddy, after all I wouldn't have had it if I hadn't seen you make the laminate for the balance board, I would love to see you make one... It has really good flex you may want to use another type of glue though, like a two part epoxy... This guy has some good ideas, poorfolkbows.com/glue.htm
      When I am able, I will make one and will post the video for you to see... God Bless Chris.

    Joe, those projects are so fun to build especially when its for your own kids. I have built so many things for my kids over the years. Cherish these days. My oldest is in collage and second graduates from high school this year. by the way I see a swing seat in the future out of that curvy balance board. Jim

    • @homesteadonomics
      @homesteadonomics  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +yoopersurvival haha.. you're very close… as my wife and I just got a swing set off of craigslist this past week and I put it up yesterday. One of the old traditional galvanized ones with monkey bars and a slide. A little bit worn down but still in pretty good shape for it's age.
      I agree about the time flying by… she is 2.5 years old and it seem like we just got home from the hospital only months ago. She is so darn fun and sweet at this age that it's really gonna be a blow when she gets into her early teens and doesn't think daddy is so great anymore…. or so I'm told!

    This be incredibly healthy for older children and adults who deals with daily stress, 15 minutes before sleep can make a great difference, if you have ADHD, you can use this in the morning to get grounded. This is one of my favorite current “toy” trends.

    Hello, in scanning comments, I didn't see anyone who actually has made this great curvy board. However, in doing so, and using the same Home Depot plywood and the dimensions you provided, the plywood breaks when only bending it about three inches! I have also tried a piece 48 inches long, the same result. Any thoughts? Thanks.

    Great project!
    I wonder what is the diameter of the board? or of the frame to curve the board?

    Just FYI this project is a couple small steps away from a high quality microphone shield! Just need a thin layer of super heavy foam topped with egg carton foam. Maybe glue the plywood via acoustic glue to make it even better

    Hello.
    Good job.
    What are the dimensions of the main structure you use for the mold process?
    What are the dimensions of the balance board?
    I will be happy if you give me information...

    Question - exactly what tools did you use to make this? I don’t have a garage but seriously would prefer making my own so need something that I can compact to easily put away.
