I did a professional show in eastern PA, same day same rain. The customer was worried that we were going to call off the show, I told them hey, if you can't shoot in the rain you can't be in the fireworks business in PA! They were very happy
One year we where having one of our fireworks shows for our neiborhood and family at one of my dads friend's shop, it was next to a high way and it ways all class c and we had obviously mortars, cakes and we threw some ring/smiley face rockets in at the last second which we never done before, we didn't have any professional equipment such as racks, flares stuff like that it was only the stuff that came in the kits, and a few blow torches, we blew 5 grand on fireworks alone, and one of our neighbors who couldn't make it drove down the highway off of where we were shooting from (we were shooting a good distance from the highway) he said that the whole high way was lined with cars just to watch our show, I was about 10 or something at the time and I was one of my dads helpers and when we heard that from our neighbor it was without a doubt the best firework show we ever had, but of course that was when we were upper middle class and Obama wasn't elected yet with all of his gay policies.

I think its dangerous to carry cakes out during a show. Much moreso then putting them all out ahead
