- An overnight trip to Jennie Lake. Up Hwy 21 past Idaho City (around 2 hours from Boise). Jennie lake trail is a moderate level trail which brings you to the lake after 4.5 miles of a steady uphill climb (about 2k feet). Camping spots are limited due to a forest fire years ago which took shade away from the existing spots. There are 2 really nice spots, which we took one of.
Great day hike location and nice overnighter.

Another great video!
I did that hike 5 years ago in late September. I saw three elk and when I was almost back at the trailhead there was a black bear right on the trail in front of me.
@@999montanaguy was that before the burn or after? Last time I was at Jennie lake the fire hadn’t happened yet. Not sure when it burned exactly
@@mattontrail it was after. As I was hiking to the lake there were three elk on the hill on the left going up. On the way back a black bear was on the trail in front of me heading to the parking lot at the trailhead before I scared him away. He scared me. I was walking down the trail and all of a sudden he was on the trail in front of me. The pioneer fire was in 2016.
Nice drone footage! How were the mosquitoes?
@@creativegeek1515 not bad but the horse flies were worse!
Dude killer footage!!! Did you see any fish surfacing? I need to do this trip soon. Love your videos keep em coming. I just started a channel and just got back from the sawtooths last month if you have a second and want to check it out!
@@Troutvoyager Thanks man! Yeah there were some jumping as the sun went down. I subscribed to your channel and thanks for the same! 🤙🏼
@@mattontrail thanks man that means a lot!!! See ya on trail 🤘
I will be doing my first backpacking trip to this lake, next month. I am unsure if I should get a bear cannister or the bag to throw over a tree. Do you know the requirements for this area?
Hanging your food is the minimum requirement. That’s usually what I do.
