Another great video, Brother. I love the sailing channels and its nice to find some people out there that are not cruising with a trust fund. It takes a certain type to do as you are doing. Keep at it lol
Yep another great video, thanks! Fascinated by the Pahi 31 as well as your homemade self-steering system, ingenious. Would love to see and hear a boat tour and your thoughts on the boat.
Thanks for that that video. Still didn’t get the principle of your self steering system 🙈 I’d love to get a more detailed explanation of how the force of the „wrong“ Wind activates a steering to the correct wind direction.
yes I've been meaning to make a video on that! though it will have to wait a little while because I have had some damage during the exceptionally bad weather we've had here this summer...
@@StrawberryGarcia that's good too! basicaly she says bermudian is overrated and generally lots of expensive parts. Traditional rigs are designed to work with stretchier material and are easier to make DIY. Though I think the main thing that hasn't aged about the book is that since it's written, there is now a lot of fiberglass production boats that are cheap now but would have been expensive then. Building your own boat is definitely not the cheap way to go now, on the other hand, very few of those production fiberglass boats are really well suited to a minimial self sufficient lifestyle...
@@dominictarrsailing you got that right, an older production boat a lot cheaper than wood epoxy from scratch and with more creature comforts but that’s not why we sail Wharram’s 😅
@@StrawberryGarcia I sailed one of those previously but found that I always got along just great with wharram owners! then I found one that needed some love on the side of the road I decided it's time to become one! also I wanted a boat that could cross oceans but also park on the beach. Not many old production boats can do that!
Very cool 👍
i really like these type of videos where you go around marinas and show all the different boats they got there
Great episode 👍

yeah have been meaning to do a boat tour but have hesitated because it's too untidy...

Looking for the book you mentioned - "annie hill voyaging on a small income"
I think it's out of print now but you can get the kindle version for $19
I got her book, you better enjoy beans
yup, beans, proper row boats, and mechanical self steering. all the good stuff! and if you are really hard core, junk rig.
@@dominictarrsailing nope just the standard wharram wing!!
