I had first heard this song at Walt Disney World at Epcot and almost immediately fell in love with it. Then a few weeks later, we were at Sea World San Antonio and heard it being played around the Coral Reef exhibit. My 4 year old daughter recognized it and said "Daddy that's the Epcot" song. From that point I started to search for it. One day it played on Disney internet radio and captured the name through Shazam. Thank you for such a beautiful song. My daughter and I always listen to it.
I worked at the Disney/MGM Studios at WDW, on the back stage tour. This song played all the time in the background. At night we’d have to walk through the tour to close down and this song was always there. I have been looking for it since 1990!
This is one of the most wonderful and beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard. I remember hearing it for the first time while in high school in Philadelphia in 1985 and was absolutely mesmerized. I maybe heard it about 5 times since then. For many years I looked for this song and couldn't find it. I didn't know who performed it or what the name was. It killed me because I wanted to hear it again. Then about three or four years ago, I found it. I have it on my iPhone and will never lose it.
I suddenly remembered this song and couldn’t find it. I used the Google app to find it. Believe it or not, i hummed the song and Google found it. I LOVE this song. It brings me back to a time when I could listen to the radio all day without a care in the world, to driving down 280 in the Bay Area. Thank you!
This is still played every summer night at the Grand Coulee Dam's laser light show. I used to watch that show every summer when I was a kid; long before I knew the title to this song. It reminds me of a cool calm summer night after a long, hot summer day.
And we are STILL only 29! Thanks for the note...first hear it on a little station in Louisville, KY that played smooth jazz for 3-4 hours/weeknight. Bought a lot of music through that station including Natural States...still have the CD
Best to hang on to that CD as they have been out of print for some time now. Of course, downloads are available. Narada released that on vinyl as well and those have become pretty rare.

I've heard this song all my life. Once in an airplane, another in Disney World, in a mall.... I've searched for this song ever since I was eight. I'm so glad to find it now.

This is a truly wonderful and life changing song; one that has helped shaped my entire way of listening to music. My Dad told me not to forget the title "Behind the Waterfall". If I could describe him with music, this song is my Dad. Thank you for this wonderful gift.
June 17th, 1989, in a Wal-Mart in Sun City Center Florida, right outside of Ruskin. I heard this on the PA and went up to the electronics register to ask what it was. About a year later, exactly, I purchased the cassette tape in Atlantic City.
Sorry to say we did only one big tour back in the early 1990s and though we are still good friends, no longer collaborate. Check out the Behind the Waterfall/ Desert Rain medley here. Live in Mexico City on the Bridge of Dreams tour. David tours regularly but I don't. However, I have been considering doing some live internet concerts broadcasting from my studio.
These narada albums are my childhood. My dad and I listened to them while cleaning every weekend. Thank you SO much for your contributions. Much love from California/Nevada.
I really wish you could. I loved this song so much. I listened to The Wave in Los Angeles when I lived there. I was never able to write down your name. I finally heard you on Pandora. This music lifts me up and I feel like I'm floating around the Universe and at the end, I'm gently laid back down to sleep. Thank you so much!

Hello Paul, i listened to this song a million times when i was still young, and i still listen to it now. This is one of the best music pieces i have ever heard. Simple. Natural. Thank you for sharing this music.
OMG! I can’t believe I found this!!! 😭❤️😭 this song means so freaking much to me!!!! I was a small child full of wonderment in a blue metal stroller in a Tomorrowland, loving my visit at Walt Disney World in the 1980’s or early 90’s! Then I n 1999, I was 17 years old and got a job as an attraction attendant in Tomorrowland. Every time this song came on the area loop, those same childhood magical whimsy feelings would come over me. I went on to become a mom. I loved watching my children grow, running around Tomorrowland, while I heard this same song play, never knowing what this song was. Today I’m sitting in a medical office, of all places, and it comes on in the lobby, using Google to search numerous times, I finally find the song! I feel like a small part of me has been found!!! ❤❤❤
This music/instrumental has and remains one of my favorites in the "new age" genre.Very soothing and relaxing and a kind of happy/uplifting song for this category...

Loved this since the late 80's when I first heard it on a radio station in Western North Carolina. I always listen to music like this when riding in the mountains of Western North Carolina and East Tennessee. The two together are truly spiritual.
Same for me. I believe I first heard it on a local radio show called 'Lovers and Other Strangers' where they played it on regular rotation. This and songs like Kenny G's Songbird were very much the staple romantic tunes in the late 80's, early 90's.
I remember hearing this song when I was a little kid (80s), and I've remembered the melody since then. I've always looked for this song, but had no idea who performed it. What a great song. It reminds me of some really sweet times. How nice to find it here. Thank you so much for posting!!! Was this song ever in a movie?
I heard this song when I was a little kid too. My 5th grade teacher would give us study time and play music. I've had this song in the back of my mind until this day.
I dedicated this song to my grandma when she passed away many years ago, she left this world with a peaceful expression on her face the last time I saw her ❤😢
In the late 80's when I was in high school, I had clock radio set to a station that played soft music to wake up to. This track was played a lot and was one of my favorites. Took me a few years to learn what it was and who did it. Thanks for wonderful music to wake up to.
oh wow I am just like you, I remember listening to this late at night trying to fall asleep on my radio. I have looked for this song since 1986; I always wanted to learn this piece on my flute but never could find the sheet music for it. maybe one day I will just pick it up. Thank you for posting this piece, i have some wonderful memories with this piece.
Natural States is one of my favourites albums. 20 years ago I watched this video. This song has a speecial "magic"; when you are stressed, it makes you relax, it makes you want to "fly" there.... to feel the breeze, watch the streght and beauty of the waterfall. Thank you Paul for remember this moment! God Bless You!
This a very intriguing masterpiece in music...it's all about God's creation, reminding us how special we all are...with talents and abilities provided, we can only be thankful to our creator...I've been hearing this when i was still little kid and i have been looking for this for so long now...we can use it in Documentaries and some voice over productions...but really am pretty amazed with this...when I became a radio DJ myself, I never get the chance to play this...
This and many other pieces were on a Natural States cassette tape I had years ago. I played it while on vacation at Lake Cushman, Washington State, wore it out then lost track of this music. Thank gawd for the internet and TH-cam for reuniting me with this most beloved music.
Thanks for commenting, Carl. CDs and DVDs are out of print though they do show up used on ebay and Amazon. The music is available in many online stores.
Haunting melody that brings back many joyful moments and sentiments. If I had to pick a tune for my childhood memories, this would be it. Makes me feel happy and nostalgic big time. Sometimes music can heal your soul and this is the best example. Thank you.
Sublime...so soothing to the soul. I've loved this piece since the '80s. I just need to close my eyes when listening to it and I am transported to another state beyond words. Awesome tune!
When the first time I hear this instrumental music I am still in my teenage years and now I'm 50 I still like hearing this music over and over , I feel like in heaven, very relaxing
It's a amazing after all this years still feeling the same pleasure that provides this masterwork, more than 30 years from then and still feels good to hear it and view it. Thank you Paul, thank you David
oh childhood memories ... why can't I detach from you .... I just love everything in this video . This piece is just extrasuper beautiful !! Thank you so much .
wow...I was listening to Pandora with a channel named new age ambient...after about 10 songs this one comes on. An ex girlfriend use to play this cd all the time and it brought back so many memories of that time. When it came on Pandora I accidentally cut it off but was able to get the name...which led me here.
This song and all the compilations of David Lanz and Paul Speer have helped me in my recovery from a catastrophic Traumatic Brain Injury, TBI, from being shot twice in the head back in 1984. These songs truly helped me in brainwave mellowness type stuff. I clawed my way back from the brink of Death. This song and the entire NATURAL STATES CD/Tape is magical.
My brother and I would play this video album ever night when we were younger. We'd dim the screen on our tv, and left it just bright enough to see the shapes of the natural states. We'd fall asleep every night to these beautiful tracks; it's definitely one of my favorite memories. Thanks for that.
I first heard this song at Laser Canyon Colorado and have been searching for it since 1992. I am so happy that I FINALLY found it after 28 years of searching!
Words cannot describe just how beautiful this work of art is. Much love has gone into it, and I thank you both for sharing it with the world. Keep up the great art of your music David and Paul. Love and light to you both.
I played this song on the radio back in the early 90's. A listener had turned me on to it & loaned it to me to put on the air. I have since bought three copies of it, just so I will always have it around! I am so glad it is on You Tube!
I remember this song, I first heard it back around 1991, liked it ever since and it reminds me of a close friend I knew that died of a blood infection, but I know she's in a better place. In addition, the waterfall at 2:50 first reminded me of Rainbow Falls, Hilo, HI. But that is much larger than R/F. Thanks so much for this track, when I want to be cheered up, I listen too it.
yesterday i listen this song! suddenly remember the song of TVE (Television Española) weather information during many years! is a really beautiful song! After so many years..nice to hear this song .David Lanz is GREAT.
There was a radio station in Louisville, KY that played smooth jazz 4 hours per weeknight. I would record much of it, then try to buy what I liked best...I still have parts of that list un-found, but this is one of many that I am proud to own and still listen to
Ever since I heard this on the radio when I was a kid I have loved it! One of the most amazing new age scores I have ever heard, it is frequently found on my playlists.
This has always been one of my personal favorites. It brings me such inner peace when i listen to it. No matter how stressful things get, this song always makes everything alright again :) Thank you, so much for this beautiful music!
A massively underrated piece of music! ! By that i mean it should be considered one of the best instrumentals of ALL time! Beautiful! ! 💙💙💙☺😊 First heard it most definitely at WDW but also even at Seaworld in Shamu Stadium before a show! ☺
Thanks for the props, Mr Kenobi. Actually, BTW has been hugely successful for us. Almost 500K plays on my channel alone not to mention the dozens of other channels variations of it have been posted.
I love this song. I bought the VHS tape from "The Nature Company" store way, way back in 1985 (Natural States released by Miramax). Its the ONLY VHS I still play. LOL. I should probably rebuy it in DVD.
I heard this song on an Easy Listening station my dad was playing, and it stuck with me. Such a simple melody, but it's beautiful and peaceful and exactly what we need in 2020.
This song was playing at a restaurant my husband and I were enjoying many years ago. I literally had to interrupt our meal and go find out the song's name so I could buy it as soon as we got home. I must have played it a thousand times before my CD player broke. I am so happy to find it here and listen to it again!
I just want to say that... this magistral piece takes me to that time in the past when I was Six and thought that my parents to live for ever. In that moments the life of any childrens is perfect. Today my parents are fisically gone, I live in a place where I don't feel good. I have my faith, my affiance, this Awesome and brilliant song that bring it peace and calm to my soul. Oh TKS my GOD for this unbelieve composition !!

Cute name for a song! Well anyway. I had just FOUND the NAME of this song. 25 yrs later after I first heard it in 1986. Thanks to the Tunatic Music ID service!
I was had David Lanz music playing in the background not really knowing who this was, but just enjoying the music as I worked. And then, these mixes segued on to this song. I had no idea who made this classic song so I never knew where to look and here it was playing. I felt like I had stumbled onto a treasure! Thank you so much for loading this wonderful song Paul...
Thanks for your comment. David has several piano songbooks available from his website. I am amazed at all the pianists who have posted videos on youtube playing his music.
This sure brings back memories for me. Back in 1987-88, this song was played regularly on 94.7 THE WAVE in Southern California. Around the same time, I saw David Lanz in concert twice and he performed this piece solo on the piano in a medley with "Desert Rain". It was great. Thanks for bringing back some great memories. This is still great music 20-plus years later.
I got a phone call from the good folks at the Coulee Dam visitor center a few months ago and they said that after 20 some years, they have changed the program so no more Behind the Waterfall. They wanted to tell me (and David) how much they enjoyed our music for all those years. Nice.
I've been looking for this song for 20+ years - my cousin pushed a button and had it in seconds. Thank you cousin and thank you Paul.

@@cashflowglo7262 You are correct... IMO regarding the recognition factor... this song/video should have 5.77 million view instead of 577K! BTW, you have a lovely smile... :-)
Health, Joy, Peace and Blessings to you...
I remember coming across this on the Galaxy channel on Shaw back in 2002
Loved this since the late 80's when I first heard it on a radio station in Western North Carolina.
This music really made the wonders of life pavilion at epcot feel so much more human than it already was
I worked in Tomorrowland and Epcot and for years, heard this song almost every day of my life. This just unlocked so many core memories. 🥹
A lot of people heard this tune at Disney but I think you are the first one that actually worked there. Cool. Thanks for posting. 👍 🎸🤩
@PaulSpeerMusic And thank you for the great music and talent that you share. 🥰
I remember hearing this song when I was a little kid (80s), and I've remembered the melody since then. I've always looked for this song, but had no idea who performed it. What a great song. It reminds me of some really sweet times. How nice to find it here. Thank you so much for posting!!! Was this song ever in a movie?
Did you hear it in Tomorrowland at Disney World? This was part of the Tomorrowland bgm loop.
@@wesleyhardeniv8303 No, unfortunately, I never went to Disney World. Thank you for trying to help me place the song. :)
I heard this song when I was a little kid too. My 5th grade teacher would give us study time and play music. I've had this song in the back of my mind until this day.
I’m pretty sure there was a movie called behind the waterfall that has this song
Amazing! Sweet memories. Thanks ❤
That would be fantastic.
I dedicated this song to my grandma when she passed away many years ago, she left this world with a peaceful expression on her face the last time I saw her ❤😢
I use to watch these as a kid. My dad had them on VHS I'm so glad to find them here. Thanks!
In the late 80's when I was in high school, I had clock radio set to a station that played soft music to wake up to. This track was played a lot and was one of my favorites. Took me a few years to learn what it was and who did it.
Thanks for wonderful music to wake up to.
You're welcome, Ryan. And thank you for commenting.
oh wow I am just like you, I remember listening to this late at night trying to fall asleep on my radio. I have looked for this song since 1986; I always wanted to learn this piece on my flute but never could find the sheet music for it. maybe one day I will just pick it up. Thank you for posting this piece, i have some wonderful memories with this piece.
I first listened to this many years ago as a UWM student. Jonathan Green, WTMJ radio, would play this to close out his show. It's great music!
Thank you, Paul. :-)
This song is so relaxing to me. I remember listening to this on some radio. Memories…
I've been searching for this one! The search is over...I am at peace...
You are very welcome, Martin. We're grateful our music has endured so long.
oh childhood memories ...
why can't I detach from you .... I just love everything in this video .
This piece is just extrasuper beautiful !!
Thank you so much .
We appreciate you taking the time to share your love.

Thank you Paul .
wow...I was listening to Pandora with a channel named new age ambient...after about 10 songs this one comes on.
Gracias, Miguel. We appreciate you taking the time to comment and that our music brings back wonderful memories. 🎹 🎶 🎸
Sheesh...sorry to hear it took 28 years!
Words cannot describe just how beautiful this work of art is. Much love has gone into it, and I thank you both for sharing it with the world. Keep up the great art of your music David and Paul. Love and light to you both.
I am right there with you , behind the waterfall. I love you.
I imagine Maria Cristina Falls in the Philippines...amazing!
I was not familiar so looked it up. Beautiful!
We need this on a ten hour loop or something.
yesterday i listen this song! suddenly remember the song of TVE (Television Española) weather information during many years! is a really beautiful song! After so many years..nice to hear this song .David Lanz is GREAT.
Thank you for sharing your story about how our song came into your life. 🎹🎶🎸🤩
Impresiona la armonía de los sonidos. Es una canción con mucha imaginación
reminds me of my childhood... we used to hear this when we wake up. my father is an audiophile... Thank God.
El 1991 Cadillac Sedan Deville. La leyenda
This has always been one of my personal favorites. It brings me such inner peace when i listen to it. No matter how stressful things get, this song always makes everything alright again :) Thank you, so much for this beautiful music!
I just came accross this music..because of someone very special to me..and might be one of favorite..
Recently met David on FB via my friend DJ Dave Davis!! How exciting!! Cindy/ LadyLake Music 🦋💐💙🌸🌈🌷🍀 Sharing on socials!!
I love this song. I bought the VHS tape from "The Nature Company" store way, way back in 1985 (Natural States released by Miramax). Its the ONLY VHS I still play. LOL. I should probably rebuy it in DVD.
waking up to a morning oasis on Sunday mornings make it the best to wake up to!
I hope you decided to replace your CD player. FYI, CDs are out of print but can often be found on ebay or amazon.
thank you Paul Speer for your músic, this álbum changed my life since i was a child. sorry my English, from Guadalajara México, i Salute you.
Muchas gracias, Luis. :)

Une Musique qui restera I HOPE thanks for posting
Cute name for a song! Well anyway. I had just FOUND the NAME of this song. 25 yrs later after I first heard it in 1986. Thanks to the Tunatic Music ID service!
I was had David Lanz music playing in the background not really knowing who this was, but just enjoying the music as I worked. And then, these mixes segued on to this song. I had no idea who made this classic song so I never knew where to look and here it was playing. I felt like I had stumbled onto a treasure! Thank you so much for loading this wonderful song Paul...
Beautiful. Thank you. 🎹🎶🎸🤩
Thanks for your comment. David has several piano songbooks available from his website. I am amazed at all the pianists who have posted videos on youtube playing his music.
Buenísimo gracias
Nice.
