That Paul Willis section is really good and is something I experienced myself in secondary school. Another fantastic thinker on this subject is Ivan Illich and his book Deschooling Society.

Really good breakdown. I find the term `brain wash’ an unusual one to use however and it makes things seem malevolent when I’m not sure if that is the message you are trying to get across. Surely `conditioned’ or some similar term could be better used.
