Thx for coming over - really appreciate it and I hope the video is helpful! Please check out our channel for other videos and tutorials. In the coming months we should be posting several by Celtic great, Tony McManus, and Adam Cord teaching some more pieces by Phil Keaggy.😀
So glad this is available! I just happened to see if I could find any TH-cam’s of Billy McLaughlin’s music today and was excited to see so many wonderful videos = available to explore! Years ago, I heard the song “Fingerdance”, right around when my father was transitioning to “the great beyond.” It was somehow uplifting and it was nice to share it with my father somehow. Even though he was not totally conscious, the song lightened the atmosphere somehow and seemed to emanate a celebration of life. Cuz I’d already worked thru stuff on guitar by Joni Mitchell, Steven Stills, and some Michael Hedges, I figured Billy worked in open tunings. So nice to even just have the tuning as a starting point! And that Billy could share this with his fans, such a wonderful gift! Thank you so much!!! 😇💖🕊
Thanks for your kind words and for sharing - glad it was beneficial! Billy's music and learning to play some of his pieces has opened my world musically, as well as inspiring me to keep pressing forward (and I know I'm not the only one). Keep checking back - we'll have more videos to come as time and resources allow. 😀😎
Thank you for sharing with us guitar-playing fans Billy! This is so awesome! Looking forward to experimenting with these techniques and this tuning. I’ve used DADGAD and some others but have not yet tried your tuning. I love listening to your music. The textures are wonderful and melodic motifs, within framework of songs, are captivating. The music takes me somewhere! Recently my cello-playing son really enjoyed your music too, when introducing him to it!
Thanks - appreciate your feedback! Billy's music is so enriching both to listen to, and to learn, that we're happy to bring this to everyone. The plan is to present more teaching videos (of him and other artists), so please check back regularly. Also, please see LMMO.org for concerts, events, etc. John Stropes & Ben Kammin will be teaching a workshop on Leo Kottke's music Sept. 26-28, 2019 - would love to see you there (though it would be a long trip...).
Wings of Pegasus brought me here. Billy sure is a good tutor.
