Creed wins. People miss the announcement when Adrian tells Rocky she loves him. It is what makes the ending so great. It wasn't about winning or losing but proving he self worth by going the whole way.
Im always surprised how many people miss that...but then again Im a boxing fan and understand how a decision victory is announced. Especially when you hear "and STILL......." you know who won
Maybe the greatest movie franchise in history. All of the Rocky movies are worth watching. He is one of the most loved characters of all time and Rocky and Adrian may be the greatest movie couple of all time.
Rocky went the distance. That was all he really wanted, and he did it. The split decision was for Apollo Creed as the winner. However, the real point of the movie was that it was the love story between Rocky and Adrian...When she says she loves him, and he loves her, that was the whole thing. Butkus was Stallone's dog, and at there is a whole story about Stallone trying to sell the screenplay for Rocky, and having to sell Butkus that is heartbreaking, but ultimately Stallone got his dog back! Also, the turtles were also Stallone's. If you didn't recognize Adrian, it is Talia Shire, who also played Connie Corleone in The Godfather movies. The film won Best Picture, Best Director (John G. Avildsen), and Editing. It was nominated for Best Actor (Stallone), Best Actress (Shire), Best Supporting Actor (Burgess Meredith as Mickey), Best Supporting Actor (Burt Young as Paulie), Best Sound, Best Original Screenplay (Stallone), Best Music (Bill Conti), and Best Song (Gonna Fly Now by Bill Conti, Carol Connors, & Ayn Robbins). When Stallone sold the screenplay, he unfortunately did not retain the rights to the characters and story to further them, those are held by producer Irwin Winkler. Even though Stallone has many times tried to buy back the rights, he has always been turned down by Winkler. This has become a very sore spot for Stallone, as he sees Rocky as his legacy (which it really is). Regarding the series...you have Rocky 2, 3, 4, & 5, Rocky Balboa, and then Creed 1, 2, & 3. The Creed films foilow Apollo's son, Adonis Creed played by Michael B. Jordan and the first is directed by Ryan Coogler (MCU's Black Panther films), and the third was directed by Michael B. Jordan. Stallone has had a hand in the story for the first two as well as playing Rocky in the first two as Adonis's trainer. Rocky 2 & 3 are the best, with Rocky 4 still really good, Rocky 5 was okay (could have been better), and Rocky Balboa is also very good. I loved the first Creed, but have yet to watch 2 & 3. Another really great franchise John G. Avildsen directed was The Karate Kid films (1 & 2 are AWESOME, 3 is not as good storywise, but has a really formidable and memorable pair of villains).
Yes. It was a spit decision meaning 2 of the 3 judges said one fighter won. Creed was announced the winner but it’s hard to hear the announcement because they’re telling each other they love them. It is a love story after all.
To clear some confusion. Boxing used to go to 15 rounds which was pretty brutal and eventually it got changed to 12 rounds for professional fights. At the end of the fight, since no one was knocked out, the decision goes to the judge's score cards. When there's a split decision, that means that the judges were very close in their decision to who won the fight. At the end, Creed is announced the winner by split decision and you can see him jump up in celebration while Rocky is with Adrian.
Just to clarify a bit more... There are three judges, each with their own scorecard. Two of the judges had Creed ahead, but one had Rocky ahead. Thus the "split" decision, with the 2-1 victory going to Creed.
This movie series is one of the greatest. I would suggest continuing on without delay. I enjoyed your reaction to this movie and I know you will definitely enjoy the rest of them if you decide to do it hope to see them on here sometime soon.
They are all great. The Rocky trilogy is a great love story with boxing. You need to keep watching. In boxing, If the match cannot be decided by knockout, technical knockout, or disqualification, it comes down to which fighter got the highest score on the judges' scorecards.
Everyone gets grossed out by the raw eggs scene. Well, for all of you young ones......back in 1976 that's how we got our protein (and high cholesterol and salmonella). In 1976, protein powders/drinks weren't readily available in every store.
It’s also something Stallone himself did if he didn’t have time to eat. I was born in 79 but that was still thought to be healthy when I was a kid,I attempted it several times but could never bring myself to do it😂
@@johannesvalterdivizzini1523 Raw eggs and cooked eggs have same amount of protein - 6g per egg. Cooking the eggs has 2 benefits - kills salmonella bacteria and breaks down the protein for quicker utilization by your body.
this is one of my favorite movies the first four movies are amazing but the whole series is beautiful. but this first movie is one of the best movies ever made in my opinion. so glad your loving this movie all of his movies are really good.
Dedicated running shoes were also not a thing in 1976. And, running long distances in Chuck Taylor's like Rocky does, is a sure fire way to quickly destroy your feet, ankles, knees and hips.
Have to disagree with you just on the first part (I agree with you regarding chuck taylor's totally wrecking his legs) dedicated running shoes were definitely a thing in 1976. Brooks, Puma, New Balance, Adidas, Nike all had dedicated running shoes. dedicated jogging magazines, ny marathon used to generate tons of publicity, and Millions were out every morning at obscene hours to jog....in 77 there was a famous foot locker ad that said "The Foot Locker has the largest selection of running shoes in America. Period." (and it then showed a pic of about 12 models of running shoes). Joggers were always pretty hardcore about having dedicated running shoes. I wasn't even a jogger and i was a 5 year old in 76, and i definitely had dedicated running shoes, because i wore them in other sports, or day camp as an all purpose sports shoe.
@@USCFlash You just agreed with my point. Dedicated running shoes were a thing for.....dedicated runners - marathon runners, long-distance runners, club runners and semi-serious fitness runners. But, they were not a thing for casual runners or boxers in training, a novice like Rocky or a pro like Muhammed Ali. The Nike Waffle trainer came out in 1974, so it's hardly likely that a non-runner like Rocky would have dedicated running shoes in 1976. Also, availability in 1976 was not like it is today. There was no Dick's Sporting Goods or Modell's in every shopping mall across the country. Dedicated running shoes were only available at dedicated running shoe stores which were rare and only patronized by dedicated/serious runners. In 1976, the average person got their sneakers from Kmart or Sears.
@@jamesf.ryaniii7918 I did not agree with your point. I was not a dedicated runner, neither were any of the kids among the 450 at my summer camp, and we ALL had nikes or adidas RUNNING shoes. Because they were the best for all purpose sports on harder surfaces, and teh waffle patterns on the bottom were effective on grass, though not as effective as cleats, which 5-7 year olds rarely wore. Of COURSE they were not as big as today, but Foot Locker was already huge in 1976, as was the athlete's foot started in 1971 Indeed there was no Dicks or Modell's but you could buy any performance runn ing or sports shoe at every foot locker and all large chain stores, not to mention at individual stores. I suppose you never heard of Thom McCan? One of the three largest shoe retailers in the US at the time with 100s of stores, who sold their "Jox" line (second biggest brand in the nation at the time) and specialized tennis, running and performance shoes? The Jox models by Thom McAn were so popular they opened an athletic retail chain in 1976 called JOX. In 78 Jox was the second largest shoe brand by sales in the US. The success of Jox caused Kinney, the other massive brand, p to create Footlocker. Running & athletic performance shoes were certainly not as popular as they are today, but they most certainly were a thing in 1976. Among all runners, all athletes, all teens doing sports, all kids and all youth. That is most certainly a *THING*. The blue and yellow Nike's that came out in around 1976 had 40% of my school and camp going berzerk. EVERY 3rd kid had those. In 1976 DIRECTLY due to to the jogging boom, Nike Sales tripled to $14 million in and doubled the following year to $28 million. Nike is becoming huge in 76 and At the same time, enters south america and asian markets. Nike first major ad is in `1976 titled "There is no finish line,". Adidas came out with the niterunner, which glowed in the dark, and i knew tons of kids who bought those. Running and performance sneakers and dedicated athletic sneakers were most certainly a thing in 1976, despite your denials. Have a nice day.
It was a split decision. Two of the three judges scored the fight in Apollo’s favor. But one judge scored the fight for Rocky. If you want to find out what happens after the fight continue with the series. The second literally picks up where the first one left off. Great reaction, really like your channel.
Like others here have mentioned. There are 3 judges to a championship fight. If the fight goes the distance (back in 1976 it was 15 rounds) then the judges decide who won. They usually agree buy occasionally one with disagree with the other two. Majority wins so with 2 judges picking Apollo then he is declared the winner.
Always brings back memories. My dad took me and my family to see this movie when it came out. As a native born Philadelphian seeing all those places I new growing up where Stallone was running: Center City, the Art Museum (w/the steps), East River Drive, the Italian Market, Penn's Landing. It's was a rush for me seeing these place on film. It will always be a rush for me.

The scene where Rocky points out the shorts are the wrong color, was added cause the printer messed up the poster/prop and they didn't have enough money left in the budget to correct it, Same thing with Rocky's robe being the wrong size..... So they wrote in dialogue to address it..... The Creed Movies happen after the Rocky Movies, the Creed Character is Apollo's Son......
Absolutely loved this reaction!! Very interesting to see your thoughts on Mickie coming to Rocky's apartment. It is actually my favouite moment in the entire movie! Mickie has treated Rocky badly (because Rocky decided to become a debut collector), but is asking for one final chance at true success. Rocky definitely smells the opportunism Mickie is giving off, but even by his own admittion, Rocky didn't 'earn' this fight. He was given it because he had a cool nickname. And he knowsknows Mickie is a great trainer, but wished he had given him attention many years ago. This movie is all about people feeling like it is their last chance at happiness, be it Rocky, Mickie, Paulie or Adrian. Such a wonderful movie!! I would HIGHLY recommend Rocky II! :) It will explain the abrupt ending! XD
Suggestion: turn CAPTIONS ON I'm sure you will be able to read the results and you would have known that Creed won on split decision. Remind you that Rocky's goal was to last the entire fight and he achieved that even though he lost the fight. In essence this is a love story. It ended with "I love you"... perfect ending.
23:03 When you're living paycheck to paycheck....you wrap yourself in a blanket when it's cold and the WALK around with the blanket. I always identified with this scene: walking from the couch to the kitchen, wrapped in a blanket AND a sweater. Very real. Very visceral. By contrast, a scene with LESS realism: Monica in Friends walks around in a crop top sweater while there's snow on the balcony. Dont get me wrong, I enjoyed HER sweater, but that detail alone makes the show less real and more fantasy.
1) it was a love story, not a boxing movie, SURPRISE!:) Oh, in 1976 fights were 155 rounds then judges decide. Split decision means of the three judges, one decicided for the loser. So 2 Appolo and 1 Rocky - then ask are the judges right? Appolo when he said no rematch thought he lost and was not going to challenge.
As all 19 of the commenters before me have doubt already told you, you MUST continue the series, and for best results DO IT NOW while Rocky is still fresh and your adrenaline is still pumping. The most important thing a woman can d before watching Rocky (Yes, I said woman. I have seen 100 reactions to Rocky and 100% of the guys understood, and 20% of the gals. this isn't sexism, just good advice) Google the rules for boxing. I promise it is not cheating, it is the opposite of a spoiler, it is an enhancer. the rules are EXTREMELY SIMPLE.
Split decision means it's a close fight. However, it was Apollo that got the victory in a razor thin decision. Also there are 6 Rocky movies 1-6. Rocky 6 is known as "Rocky Balboa". And then you have the Creed movies, as of now there are 3 Creed movies
If nobody mentioned, this Rocky was the FIRST training montage, EVER. Studio execs were SO AGAINST the training scenes, saying "why would people want to see Rocky barely run up the stairs and watch him do situps and hit a bag and jump rope.?" It had never been done....and from a practical standpoint it IS boring to watch someone in real life do situps. But Stallone was convinced that showing Rocky's efforts and PROGRESS would sell. Set it against the iconic sound track and you have witnessed movie history. SO....anytime you see ANY training montage set against a sound track.....it's ENTIRELY due to the influence of Rocky (winner of 3 academy awards, including Best Picture), written by Sylvester Stallone, himself.
Creed was the clear winner by all the rules that govern professional Boxing. Rocky was the clear winner by all the rules that govern life. Apollo may have won on points but at the end he was a beaten man. If the fight had gone another 15 seconds Apollo would have been out cold from a head shot or on the canvas doubled over in pain from internal injuries and difficulty breathing. Please do keep going with the series all the way through the Creed spin off films.
There's 3 judges. A Unanimous Decision means all 3 give the win to the same person. A Split Decision means two judges give it to the winner and the 3rd judge gave it to the other guy.
creed won, for a champ to loose you normally really need to beat him bad or knock him out for the belt to change hands. the judges would normally give the edge to the champ in a close fight.
First off the picture of him at the beginning definitely looks like him. Not sure how you didn’t think so, but whatever. Also, definitely continue on with the series. You really should also watch at the very least, the first Rambo movie called First Blood. Continue that series if you like tons of action and violence. Lastly, you would really enjoy Cliffhanger, so add that one to your list.
Split decision so 1 judge thought Rocky won and the rest thought Creed won so Creed won overall. It was announced in the background intentionally as at that stage Rocky doesn’t care about the result. He proved to himself he could go the distance and seeing Adrian is more important to him than
While these movies are classics… I’m convinced the people that made them have never seen a boxing match. The sequences and knockdowns make no sense. Pretty hard to get immersed
So, I wasn't a big fan of your editing, you left out some pretty big scenes ( Rocky venting to Mick how he didn't care about him till the big fight) but I loved your reaction to Adrian and Rocky's scenes so I'm going to subscribe and give you a shot, just make sure to keep in the big scenes, you can go longer on your reaction, your totally entertaining enough! ❤️👍💪😎
Ricky's explanation of the southpaw nickname is totally wrong. It's just showing how imaginative he is. What he lacks in education, he makes up for with creativity and charisma.
35:37 Apollo won by split decison but is embarrassed because of the press Rocky gets being a club fighter” taking “world class fighter” world heavyweight champion the distance ans effectively beating him up!! so to prove the first fight was fluke Apollo challenges Rocky to rematch in Rocky II 😳
Micky always cared about Rocky, but he just hated the fact that he worked for a loan shark/mobster because back then, boxing was rife with mob activity and it kinda tarnished the integrity of the sport

No, Appolo didnt normaly do this kind of thing, but he had to sell that fight against an unknown so he upped the theatrics a few notches.
All time favourite movie❤
Watch the first 4 Rocky movies.
The Rambo film series is also really great. I highly redomended.
The first two are good boxing movies. Then we get to the point where he decides punches don't hurt.
You just started quite a journey. Keep going. :)
Hometown hero,we really do act like he’s a real person it’s bizarre😂
There's 3 judges. A Unanimous Decision means all 3 give the win to the same person. A Split Decision means two judges give it to the winner and the 3rd judge gave it to the other guy.
Rocky didn't win the boxing match, but he won in other ways.
Nice reaction to a great movie, I enjoyed it
creed won, for a champ to loose you normally really need to beat him bad or knock him out for the belt to change hands. the judges would normally give the edge to the champ in a close fight.
Rocky II is possibly best for story, then comes III - IV 😳😨
Nooo. You can't skip Mickey's introduction.
As others have said, Rocky is a love story with boxing mixed in it...
He proved to himself he could go the distance and seeing Adrian is more important to him than
Subscribed. Great reaction. I can’t wait till you react to ROCKY II as well as the rest of the franchise.
Up next... Rocky II
While these movies are classics… I’m convinced the people that made them have never seen a boxing match. The sequences and knockdowns make no sense. Pretty hard to get immersed
please watch warrior with tom hardy, emotional and very good movie, also watch all the rocky's , its worth it
Those CHEEKS
that was stallones actual dog
So, I wasn't a big fan of your editing, you left out some pretty big scenes ( Rocky venting to Mick how he didn't care about him till the big fight) but I loved your reaction to Adrian and Rocky's scenes so I'm going to subscribe and give you a shot, just make sure to keep in the big scenes, you can go longer on your reaction, your totally entertaining enough! ❤️👍💪😎
Let’s just competently cut out Rocky’s emotional breakdown when Mickey leaves shall we?
Horrible editing.
Agree, I was like whattttt…..there were actually a bunch of good little things cut. I know it’s hard but some really good things were cut. Awful
6 Rocky movies..... (Rocky 1-5 and Rocky Balboa), then there is the Creed series (Creed 1-3)
Ricky's explanation of the southpaw nickname is totally wrong. It's just showing how imaginative he is. What he lacks in education, he makes up for with creativity and charisma.
Now you have to watch Rocky 2 😅😂😂
I watch reactors every day and I haven't seen The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, please.
NOW WATCH ALL THE OTHER ROCKYS 2,3,4,5 andROCKY BALBOA.
It was a split decision. Two judges had Creed ahead, one had Rocky ahead - so Creed won.
You MUST watch Rocky 2
Phily chic born and raised. Please finish the franchise then CREED. Rocky isnt a boxing movie, its a love story with boxing in it.
the turtles ate butkus
35:37 Apollo won by split decison but is embarrassed because of the press Rocky gets being a club fighter” taking “world class fighter” world heavyweight champion the distance ans effectively beating him up!! so to prove the first fight was fluke Apollo challenges Rocky to rematch in Rocky II 😳
Micky always cared about Rocky, but he just hated the fact that he worked for a loan shark/mobster because back then, boxing was rife with mob activity and it kinda tarnished the integrity of the sport
Looking forward to when you do Star Wars
Great reaction! 💯 Doesn’t hurt that you are fantastically beautiful 🙂💯 I look forward to many more videos in the future 🙂💯😎
