Mom wanted me to go to Nova Scotia to meet this fella that was a rescue pilot. I should have listened to her. But, I was with Yun at the time and didn't want to lead the fella on. What a mistake that was. What a beautiful home that would have been and it was right up mom's alley, too. As her father was a mariner and she spent a lot of time in Alaska visiting him, when he was in the service (Army Transport, chief engineer aboard a tugboat). She loved port towns and was born in San Francisco. In fact, she took the Nova Scotia gentleman to SF and they walked along the bay, there, on the shore. She pointed at a big stump and said "My daughter would love that!" And he picked it up and carried it to her car for her, to give to me. He musta been like Hercules. She told me, her father, George Lawrence Hudson, once told her she was English, Irish, Scotch, Dutch, Welch, French, and German. And maybe some of their roots traveled to Nova Scotia too. That was a lovely historical adventure, filled with beautiful music and loving people. I imagine most live long happy lives there.

Keltic Lodge would be great to visit. Halifax, too. I went to Bay of Fundy on way to NS. Visited Digby, and many other beautiful places. Visited Prince Edward Island, too, a couple of times. It makes me cry when listen. 😥 Wherever you happen to live in the world, it sounds like a perfect anthem for rising from heartache and suffering, and to help others to do the same thing.

Anne pretty much sums up the Canadian ethos. Responsible, focused, serious people who also have a deep vein of whimsy. Toronto is exciting, Montreal is mystical (I think) and anywhere you wander, city or countryside, the dining is out of this world. It is strange to be in a nation with two languages yet no confusion resulting. And everyone is so nice. I was there for the 1967 World's Fair in Montreal and at this late juncture can still remember just about every experience there.

I grew up listening and singing Hey what about me by Anne Murray in the back seat of the family station wagon each summer from Syracuse. New York to Amherst, Nova Scotia. Now my mom.and step dad own the old shipyard campground in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. I never knew Nova Scotia was the one of the poorest provinces.
