I strongly agree with everything you said. Because i had the same experiences in Japan 20-30 years ago. 😊. Living in Japan expanded my mind and perspectives.
My Japanese was not fluent but i did achieve basic proficiency. (Best example: on a bus tour full of Americans (coworkers at the military base) we had a Japanese tour guide but the translator did not show up. I was able to fill in and did ok. Was proud of myself ❤).
But then i returned to the States and let my Japanese language skills die. Big regrets.
Do whatever you can to avoid regrets and keep moving forward towards your goals.

Hi. I'm from Indonesia. I took English Education as my major in university. Ironically, I'm still struggling speak in English to the point I refuse to be a teacher because I do realize my ability. I'm also introvert. Maybe that's one of many reasons why so hard for me to communicate. I hope I can get over this problem. I really want to improve myself. I really do. But it's so hard as well. Anyway, I understood everything you said. Well done. So proud of you. 🙂🙂🙂

Day 33: Today I calculated how much money I will make at the end of this school year. Everyday my parents give me 50 pesos and my grandma give 100 pesos every Monday, I'll have 350 pesos on a week. 1 month I'll have 1,400 pesos and at the end of the school year I'll have 14k pesos. I'm already planning on buying a iPad, I hope that I don't have any absents on this school year because I really want that iPad.

I am studying Japanese here at Tokyo and I really love to learn more about the perspective of a japanese native speaker whose also learning a foreign language. Actually, I am struggling learning the japanese. Somehow, it made me feel good that it is okay to be bad at something at first, we can not expand our self if we keep on overthinking instead of making an action. Thanks for this experience Naoya san! and I am looking forward for your TH-cam journey.

Hi Naoya, i hope you are doing good. Wish you a lot of success on your journey. I am not sure how did you showed up on my youtube. But i was very pleased to carefully watch your video till the very end. Because i couldn't believe that you mentioned Croatia. I am coming from Croatia and my name is Luka. I can only say that i wish for more young people to watch this video and get inspired by it and by your life story. You are sending to the world such a strong message in a such an easy way. Which i really liked to hear, honestly. Maybe i shout have mention this at the very beginning, but you seem to be a very nice, grateful and honest human being. Which i highly appreciate to see nowadays. Not gonna bother you much with long comment, but wish you best of luck sir thank you and take care!

Thank you so much for your nice comment.
This kind of comment always makes me feel grateful for having learned English. I'm still working on it, but I've never been this motivated before. I hope I will make more progress and share the beauty of learning language and growing as a person.
Thank you. You take care, too.

The learning process always comes with confidence. Don't worry about broken English or so wathever. Be yourself. Even my English teacher used our own accent. Just chill.

Maybe the word you were looking for was “lifted”?
That’s awesome that you have been expanded by speaking with different people. I know what you mean. I get really excited whenever my friends and I share and participate in each other’s cultures. You’re gonna have a great time practicing English now that you have a friend to talk to. I’m excited for y’all.
Side note, I’ve been having an itch to begin traveling next year. I want to learn a bit of a language before I travel to a country that doesn’t have English as its official language. Any tips for beginners at language learning? Like what type of resources were most helpful to you, what was your initial focus, etc. (Maybe video idea?) after watching your videos almost daily now, I kind of wanna learn Japanese. I have a few other languages in mind too. But yeah, if you have any tips, that would be greatly appreciated.

The word I was looking for was "relax" or "abate"!Thank you. I didn't know "lifted" is used with "regulation".
That's exciting! I'm glad that you're kind of interested in Japanese now. I think in the begging it's important to focus on memorizing basic phrases that make sense on their own, for example "ありがとう" "ごめん""また明日". Even though you don't know the grammer, you can understand those phrases and say them. That little "success" will motivate you to learn more! Hope this kind of helps🙂
Good luck with your trips and language learning🤞

Thanks!! I’ve been trying to start learning a new language for a while now but it gets a bit daunting. Truly, watching your videos makes the process look like a fun journey than something to overly stress about. Thanks for the advice, I’ll start with little phrases and work my way up! ありがとう 😃

I think the the word you were searching for around minute 13:30 is the word "abate", meaning to reduce in amount, degree, or intensity; lessen. 😏
