I absolutely loved this limited series. A legendary role for Darren Criss. The introduction of Cody Fern. Simply a masterpiece. There is SO much pain and anguish. SO much.
Andrew and David maintained a sexual relationship long after the interaction that’s portrayed in the series. Remember, this series is based largely on speculation. If you want to read accurate reporting about what was going on between them and all the rest of the story, read “ Vulgar Favors” by Maureen Orth. One of the most interesting facts about David that is not at all portrayed in the series is that he was extremely promiscuous himself, including having two male lovers from Washington, D.C., both black, for whatever that is worth. Orth also states after interviews with friends of David and Andrew that the first night they met they did not have sex; however, they engaged in rough sex numerous times after that, with David being the passive partner. I don’t need to go on, just read the book.
I can’t find my reply, so maybe I didn’t post it. Anyway, I just wanted to say that David and Andrew did have an ongoing sexual relationship long after the night in San Francisco. The authoritative biography of Cunanan, Maureen Orth’s “Vulgar Favors,” States that, based on many interviews she had with friends of both of them, that, although Andrew and David did not have sex the first night in San Francisco, they engaged in a long-term sexual affair after that. There is no concrete evidence that David had any sexual relationship with Jeff Trail, although Andrew was very jealous of their interactions anyway, and he thought they were having a love affair. David was just as promiscuous as Andrew, if not more so; he had numerous boyfriends, including two young, black men from Washington, D.C., whom he met separately on two different trips to provide architecture advice to clients. Orth states in regard to interviews she had, that I mentioned above that, after the first night in San Francisco, David and Andrew frequently engaged in sexual activity, much of it being rough sex, with David being the passive partner. I recommend you read this book if you want to separate fact from fiction. Of course, the series was based largely on speculation, but the book is not. I agree this was one of the best series I’ve ever seen on TV. The acting was sensational. By the way, one person whom I thought carried out her small role in superb fashion was the woman who ran the escort agency. I finally found out the name of the actress who played that part. I’ll look it up again and put it on here, because I don’t want to go out of this comment and then, likely, lose it.
I don’t know if Andrew really loved David or if Andrew really loved anyone or anybody except for money and fame. Andrew killed David. And he had more of an obsession with David than anything. It was more like a “if I can’t have you, no one can” type of obsession
OMG Darren is amazing. I need to see this though I feeI have spoiled it for myself. I have only ever seen Darren as Blaine and here he legit fucks me up lol I wish I hadn't spoiled it. I was here looking at cody's work and found what I look for but rarely get, the creeps.
I'm afraid you are spoiled, I was too when I watched the tv series and still enjoy their acting and the series, I'm glad you got what you were looking for. Cody and Darren are wonderful, I think Cody is going to be amazing in AHS, can't wait to see more of him .
I want to add one more thing about Andrew’s killing of Jeff. Later in episode four, David says to Andrew that Andrew had planned the whole thing in advance. If that was the case, then why did Andrew have to look around to find a hammer in the toolbox that David was using to repair something? It’s obvious that Andrew looked at it almost for the first time and then decided to use it. That argues very strongly to me as a lawyer for the idea that the murder was not premeditated, but was committed almost on the spot out of blind rage: Jeff was interfering with the only true love interest that Andrew had ever had. Just look at the way that Andrew was mesmerized by David when David was telling the story of the girl who was an outcast in his high school. That’s straight-out love at first site. Bam, you’re hit by the strongest feeling you’ve ever had for anything or anybody.
i thing like you it was randon , i just don' t understand what moment Andrew took the gun of Jeff.If he took it before why he didn' t use it and took the risk to fight with Jeff. If Jeff knew alredy that the gun was missing, why he went to the apt and didn' t call the police. If Andrew took the gun after how come David stayed in the apt with Andrew .Weird
bodishatva sky he took the gun before jeff died because the reason jeff came to the apartment was to get the gun back. im pretty sure it’s supposed to be believed that he took the gun so that he could use it to kill people (obviously), as he used it to kill david and versace. maybe he chose not to use it to kill jeff because it either: wasn’t on him at the time, would be too loud in the apartment, or he wasn’t planning on killing him at the moment. he may have also chose to use the hammer because it would have framed david, forcing david to want to flee the city with him. but of course nobody really knows why he took it.
Thank you so much for creating this. I can’t comprehend how much talent you must have to splice all of the video together, etc., with an independent song as perfect background music, scene by scene. I loved this series. Cody Fern is as good an actor as Darren Criss in parts eight through four. I was pissed off when Cody was denied an Emmy nomination, but I’m pleased that he has used this breakout role to become a well-known actor, with more major roles to come besides those he has already won. Hey, all of you who criticize Andrew, give him something of a break. The fact is he was deeply in love with David, and was jealous of Jeff. How many of us have not had the SAME experience? Why does someone even have to point out he or she doesn’t condone murder? Does that make him or her feel better? Back to the creator of the video: you have crafted what is literally a Shakespearean set of scenes, with obsessive love culminating in death. By the way, if anyone wants to find out more of the FACTS regarding Cunanan and everyone else, read Maureen Orth’s book, “Vulgar Favours.” One thing I learned from reading it is that David was not the always nice, so-nice Midwestern boy depicted in the series. Although it was their business, he and Andrew often engaged in “rough sex,” with Andrew “dominant.” In a very obvious way, David led Andrew on. Why did he go to his room the first night? Why did he accept an expensive watch from Andrew? Why did he go out to Los Angeles, accept an expensive suit, and then stay with Andrew at was in truth the Château Marmont? Although the series has David saying to Andrew that he only came out to California to see if their relationship might work out permanently, this is BS in large measure, according to Orth, who committed hundreds of hours to finding out the truth. It is a fact that David was trying to balance a relationship with Andrew along with the one with Jeff, so who wouldn’t be jealous if he or she had fallen head over heels for somebody? Yes, Andrew’s actions even before he killed David were those of a psychopath, but those behaviors were in substantial part created by his early childhood, and being treated overly well by his parents. In any event, I say again to the maker of this video, thanks so much. As Cody Fern has stated, David, Andrew, and Jeff were all victims of the attitudes towards gay people in the 1990s. Fern has stated these attitudes in society at large created “gay shame,” particularly on the part of David, who was conflicted about his sexuality all the way until the time he decided he was gay. It is true he was a charismatic guy from grade school until his murder. After watching episode four, I wondered why David did not slug Andrew when they were out by the lake, when Andrew turned away, and David ran off.Orth speculates that David was the victim of Stockholm syndrome and PTSD, thus not being able to deck Andrew. One thing I found very interesting about the series is how secretive, but pervasive, gay behavior was in a good chunk of the upper class community of that period- -Asten, Blachford, Miglin. I myself remember how these facts were played down or ignored by the media at the time, while Andrew was demonized. Enough. Just a fantastic job. Read Orth’s book, everyone! PS I would’ve posted this a long time ago, but I just discovered how to leave a comment from googling the question. If you haven’t done so, watch the James Corden’s video on TH-cam where Criss was the guest. It’s really great. Here’s one more thing I found out from the book: in the series, David calls his dog what sounds like “Prince.” Prince is a kind of mongrel poodle. In fact, David had a Dalmatian named “Prints,” clever name given by an architect. I think a factual portrayal here would’ve added to the series. It would’ve been an easy matter to follow the truth.
You are very kind!!! I'm so happy you think so. Thank you so much for your comments ❤ He totally deserve a Emmy nom along with Darren, I cant blame you for being upset. The awards shows aren't always fair but Cody is soooo talented, I'm sure he'll get the recognition he deserves.Thank you for all the insight on Andrew and David and for the book & video recs. I have seen the vid, It's wonderful 😉I agree with you, I mean is hardly ever black and white when it comes to people, we are complex beings, but I think producers of TV series/movies tend to simplify things. That way is easy for the audience to understand the characters and feel free to judge them and tag ppl as evil or good.Thank you for your lovely comment regarding the video ❤❤❤
As if nobody else has ever fallen head-over-heels in love and done anything he or she can do to “keep” the other person, only for the relationship to end in tragedy. Pick up a couple of Shakespeare’s plays and read them. “Othello would be a good one with which to start. Andrew is far from alone in his feelings when compared to other smitten lovers. By the way, no one really knows what happened between Andrew, Jeff, and David. In fact, there’s no proof that David was not himself involved in the murder of Jeff, but he and Andrew soon fell out. The series mixes facts with MUCH speculation. If you want to read something that is surely more accurate in regard to what happened, read Maureen Orth’s book, “Vulgar Favours.” You’ll see from reading the book that David was hardly the angelic, blue-eyed, blond young man that he is portrayed as being in the series.
I’ve written comments before but I want to add something important about it book that tells an accurate story about the relationship between David and Andrew, plus a lot of other information that is distorted or plain made up in the series. Read Maureen Orth’s definitive story about Cunanan and his various loves and hates. It’s entitled “Vulgar Favours” in British English; “Vulgar Favors” in the American edition. This is not to take away anything from the greatness of the series or the fantastic acting ability of every actor in the series. One of my favorite, or my very favorite, scenes is when Andrew goes to the escort agency. The woman who runs the agency has the real name of Molly Price. In just a few minutes, she displayed amazing acting ability. Anyway, to cite one inconsistency between the series and facts, Andrew and David continued to have a sexual affair when David was in Minneapolis. It involved rough sex, or B&D. Andrew was normally the top in the relationship. None of this is shown in the series. Their love affair was indeed deep on both sides, not just on Andrew’s. Don’t forget the part of the series when the police went into David‘s closet and found lots of porn and sex toys. All of that “stuff” was obviously used by David AND Andrew. By the way, there is no evidence, according to this book, that David and Jeff ever had a sexual affair. It is true that Andrew introduced Jeff to lots of lovers in San Diego. One sidelight to the story that I found especially interesting is that David’s dog was not named “Prince,” as one would assume from the pronunciation of the name, but “Prints,” an obvious name for a Dalmatian, and also an obvious name that would be given to such a dog by an architect. God, it is hard to type on an iPhone, so excuse any grammatical errors or typos. Greg in Eugene
“What a sick, sick mind”? Apparently, you’ve never been madly in love with anybody. That’s the story portrayed in the video. Unfortunately, the relationship ended up like a Shakespearean tragedy (see “Othello”). By the way, who forced David to go up to Andrew’s room with him? What did he think they were going to do, have cookies and milk? From what happened from that point on, it would take David’s being a naive dope for him not to realize how Andrew felt about him; yet, he continued the relationship. By then, he should’ve realized the situation he had placed himself in and broken off contact completely if he didn’t want it to continue. But he never did. In truth, so-angelic David was promiscuous with numerous other boyfriends while still seeing Andrew; It was not a one-night-stand on David’s part, as portrayed in the series. If you want to learn the truth about the relationship, read the authoritative biography of Cunanan, “Vulgar Favours,” by Maureen Orth.
no in the series he clearly states that he did like andrew at that point. he wanted andrew to invite him up to the room because he liked him since he sent him a drink in the bar and seemed like a nice guy. however when he visits him later in San Francisco he figures out that he doesn’t really want to be with Andrew because they’re too different. But Andrew was already far gone at that point so he was constantly trying to make advances even when he was turned down multiple times.
Do you really believe that the television show was an accurate portrayal ofAndrew and David’s relationship. If you do. you’re very naïve. The program was manipulated to make it dramatic, not to correspond with facts. Read the book. and you can decide for yourself. Until you do, your mere assumptions have no credibility. David was certainly far from choir boy from the backwoods of Wisconsin trying to make in the big city, even though the program forcefully to portray it that way. Frankly, after episode four, I quit watching the series. It got even farther afield with unproven suppositions after that episode. God, the things that people believe based on their own suspicions or interpretations of drama created for drama’s sake. I am not dissing you, I’m just trying to make you think about what you think happened.
Two other things: why was the shower scene at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel edited so that there was no view of David even from the side? If you look at that piece of the video, there is a block on the shower on the left-hand side that prevents that. How many showers would have a feature like that? I wonder if Cody Fern didn’t want too much of himself showing, even though that wouldn’t have been sensational in the least. Then, in the scene where Andrew takes David into David’s shower to wash Jeff’s blood off of him, why were David’s athletic pants left on? Wouldn’t they also be covered with blood and need to be cleaned separately? That scene was unrealistic. You’d think they would both be in the shower nude, as Andrew apparently was. All that’s seen is Andrew washing off David’s bare chest and arms. There had to have been blood splatters on the pants. And, what did Andrew do with HIS clothes?
I heard that there was a spectacular love scene between Andrew and David, I watched the whole thing in one day and I never saw it, was it cut out? Does anyone know?
When you’re intensely in love with somebody, I wouldn’t say that you have a “sick mind.” “Love sick” is the correct term. (This love was Shakespearean, almost exactly like the love portrayed in “Othello.”) Read “Vulgar Favours,” by Maureen Orth, THE authoritative book about Cunanan. David Madsen, in fact, not TV fiction, was far, far from angelic. He was just as promiscuous, or more so, than Cunanan. I’m fine with that, but let’s be truthful, as with the that David and Andrew had far more than a one-night fling. They were lovers off-and-on for well over a year. Andrew had the ultimate problem that he fell harder for David than vice versa.
Oh, I forgot to mention another interesting thing that is crucial to the series. According to Orth’s, David and Andrew did not have sex that first night they were in a the Mandarin Oriental hotel in San Francisco. How she knows that, I don’t know, but she sites several friends of both of them who claim that is the facts. Do you know why the thing about that whole towel saying that I find a little over the top is that David was so naïve that he didn’t even know about hotel slippers. If he were an architect, he would’ve traveled around the country and seen that sort of extra in other hotels. It makes him out to be sort of a rube, when he was not.
My God this is only a story. David and Andrew are my classmate at MIT with our subject Differential Calculus application to Engineering, code ECE345. They are not gay. This is only a movie. Truly they are biological brothers to one mother as per their confession to me being their close friend. They are also WEST POINT ACADAMY GRADUATES Batch 1984, my junior batch because I am batch 1983. Media this is to much of a Lie. I can not believed what happen to them. Could someone is using their CCT or GCT Licensures? This movie could have been use to cover a crime of identity theft?
I absolutely loved this limited series. A legendary role for Darren Criss. The introduction of Cody Fern. Simply a masterpiece. There is SO much pain and anguish. SO much.
100% Agree! ❤
2 BRILLIANT Young Actors...When watching the show I often wondered how Andrew's life would have changed had David returned the love...

Does anyone know?
i was gonna protest that it should be allanis morissette version but the guy’s version is better since it’s 2 male in relationship...
Thought the same :)

When you’re intensely in love with somebody, I wouldn’t say that you have a “sick mind.” “Love sick” is the correct term.
(This love was Shakespearean, almost exactly like the love portrayed in “Othello.”)
Read “Vulgar Favours,” by Maureen Orth, THE authoritative book about Cunanan.
I don't think Andrew fell harder for David than vice versa. Andrew's narcissicsm meant that he couldn't handle being rejected, by anybody.

Why gay stories must to end on tragedies?
Who is the actor who plays David?
Cody Fern :)
Cody Fern is cute, but not that cute I like Darren Criss better
My God this is only a story. David and Andrew are my classmate at MIT with our subject Differential Calculus application to Engineering, code ECE345. They are not gay. This is only a movie. Truly they are biological brothers to one mother as per their confession to me being their close friend. They are also WEST POINT ACADAMY GRADUATES Batch 1984, my junior batch because I am batch 1983. Media this is to much of a Lie. I can not believed what happen to them. Could someone is using their CCT or GCT Licensures? This movie could have been use to cover a crime of identity theft?
Cody Fern 😍😍😍😍😍 love this series.....
