i found your technique a couple year ago and have now used it twice for shoe string budget middle schools productions (our facade is cardboard). This is an excellent technique, looks great on the stage and from the audience and is relatively cheaper than foam construction. Thank you for sharing this :-)
Of all the videos I've watched. This is the only one that was exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. Im one wall down 2 to go on the BDSM Dungeon.:) Thanks Stiltbeaststudio for your time and effort. I havnt looked yet. But im hoping to find an idea for the celing paint/design next.
Love this technique. I want to paint a stone wall for my mausoleum. Problem is my medium is fabric (for easier storage). What would be a good way to get the uneven grey tones?
It's TACO WEDNESDAY!! grin saw the title in feed i said ohh it must be a stiltbeast new video! WOOT WATCH NOW, awesome, though I could have used this a few days ago, i have your dracula walls done on some, and the bottom half painted on the rest.. hmmm contemplating doing those half done ones like this now.. GO EAT STUUUUFF ;)
After you brush the black and white paint on, what are you doing? Rubbing it with a cloth? What is the purpose of misting the wall? This looks amazing. I hope I can recreate the look. Thanks!
Im just using a brush to mix the black and white patches together- the water misted on the makes makes them blend better- its a nice wet blend that way.
you need my shirt--Bob Ross.....I got it from my daughters friend about 2 weeks ago....great looking backdrop....you should do haunts or something...LOL
Gotya! Thanks Being an artist, airbrush artist who does paintwork on custom built bikes etc, it's amazing how simple you make these paintjobs while being 100% on mark and effective. Just great work. Before your set painting videos, man, I'd been afraid to just paint, now I see just how simple it can be done in a very effective way. I can't wait to put some of this to the test, you know, outside of a trailer haunt, lol
What's your secret to getting such well-defined lines with a brush? I feel like whenever I try something like this, my brush runs out of paint when I least want it to, and it's hard to continue the line from there.
wow the highlights really make everything transform. are you selecting which sides to add the highlight or is it never on all sides of one stone? the mighty beast strikes again
What do you use to paint on? Plywood, fabric, foam? I want to do a scene in our conference room walls but obviously not paint on the walls. I am debating on foam board or thin MDF? Any suggestions?
@@StiltbeastStudios Do you use the back of the luann (or whatever you're using for the foundation of your wall) for another special effect scene so it can be used for other haunts?
Back when I was in my first year of college 1974, I got ask to paint my homecoming photo back drop for my high school. I had been there 4 years and every year I had attended they had ask one of my friends and classmates. Mine was not the best but it was mine.
I did the backdrop for our (oh I can't believe i'm gonna say this) 40th high school reunion. it came out great and I brought it home to augment it for my haunt.....
tacos are a great diet food.. Grin.. 96% lean beef, got your protein, veggies, grains, and dairy with cheese.. fruit if you count tomatoes as fruit and lettuce as your veggie :)
I want to do this to one of our outside walls that is covered with a billboard vinyl. Do you think I would need to seal it with anything if I use exterior paints? Have I told you lately that I love your videos? LOL
the section you see me paint took one hour, all the footage was sped up 12 times. The other two sections also took about an hour each.and the magic of youtube makes it take eight minutes!

Came here to do the exact same thing!
I love watching you work on stuff. Its like if Bob Ross wanted to paint dungeons instead of trees
Happy little dungeons
Really Like that. I have some unused grey paneling I will repurpose and do this as a scene setting for my porch.
sounds very cool!
💚💚💚 Love your creativity, skills, and humor! 💚💚💚🤗👍🏼

So awesome!!
Thanks!! And thanks for tuning in!
Love your videos! Looking forward to new ones. I know very busy this time of year.
So helpful! Thanks
Just awesome, the moss and vines must really make it pop.
they normally do, the best way to use this style of painting is to combine it with actual 3-D elements.

Sorry if this was already asked, but it looks like there is a section of fabric that is painted this way, how did you achieve that look on it?
the fabric is duvetyn and it was brushed the same way for the lines and highlight, but the scumble was done with spray paint cans-black and white.
can't wait to see this one in person. come on October!!!!!!!!
Bring it!
Awesome, as always.
Question! You have a curtain, and a punched hole, which one is for the actors / guests?
guests actually only see it from the front, its on a stage.
Gotya! Thanks

nothing wrong with trailer haunts- a good paint job goes a looong way!

Mansloth.. love it!
wow the highlights really make everything transform. are you selecting which sides to add the highlight or is it never on all sides of one stone? the mighty beast strikes again
I did all the highlights from the top, and maybe a half inch down one side. That dictates that a light source is above and off to one side.
Will the vines and moss be painted, or are we talking florist moss or is it fake moss?
What do you use to paint on? Plywood, fabric, foam? I want to do a scene in our conference room walls but obviously not paint on the walls. I am debating on foam board or thin MDF? Any suggestions?
that was particle board, but I really like Luann.
@@StiltbeastStudios Do you use the back of the luann (or whatever you're using for the foundation of your wall) for another special effect scene so it can be used for other haunts?
@@bonniewitmyer7823 sometimes we do, I paint both sides eventually before I paint over the front. depends on what the show needs.
thanks for the inspiration as always
glad you liked the video!
Awesome!
I enjoyed painting this!
what did you use as your canvas? cardboard? plywood?
this was actually particle board, I prefer 1/4" luan as its pretty smooth- even the underlayment board is great for that.
What is the wall made from please, could l make it out of cardboard box
this wall is made from 2x2 lumber and 1/4" luan as a skin. But this can be painted on anything.
StiltbeastStudios thank you for you quick reply your work is amazing thanks again.
Beautiful!
what music did you use it sounds familiar?
I bet you have heard it in my other videos lol, its royalty free stuff I get from youtube.
that was awesome
wicked thanks again for sharing
lol no problem, fun for me too!

as long as if you were asked to paint it again- the new one was better, then you are doing great!

I know you must be busy around now but I was wondering how you age clothes or costumes. I couldn't find a video on this. If you have time. Thanks!
very cool and fast wish would have use that technique a few times LOL!! HFL!!
well you have it for next time!
you said it took 3 hours, but it only seemed like about 8 minutes...
the section you see me paint took one hour, all the footage was sped up 12 times. The other two sections also took about an hour each.and the magic of youtube makes it take eight minutes!
where is your haunt this year?
I did this on the side of my ramp and it looks GOOD but not as good as yours. Wish I could send you a PiC
