    I cannot stress enough how myself (and I believe others watching your videos) appreciate the way you make your tutorials absolutely neat, clear, smart and helpful. Not a single word that would be unnecessary is spoken. Pure and contentful (is is still English??)

    Thanks again for these guides Requiem. The A20 is a great aircraft and a favourite of mine. I’m trying to limit the number I fly in IL-2 so as to have a chance of becoming competent with them but there are so many! 😀 cheers

    Thanks for another stellar video. Those dials down in the lower right are really strange looking the way the needles cross over each other like that. I'm really looking forward to trying these planes...I've basically only flown the Spitfire so far out of the Kuban bunch :-)

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Chuffer, try not to think of those dials as working together. It's just a way of being able to display the Cylinder Head Temperature (example) for both engines at the same time on one gauge. I've seen that kind of gauges in airplanes I've trained in as well. As long as those needles pointing at the optimal temperatures found in the pilot's notes section it's all good!
      Give the P-39 a decent go if you haven't already. That cannon is devastating, but don't hold down the trigger. Fire individual shots for the best effect.

    • @chuffer3d564
      @chuffer3d564 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Requiem, I have to admit I'm sucker for fancy dials, there is something cool about looking at a bunch of old analogue readings over modern HUDs. Pretty cool you get to see them for real in training.
      Speaking of your real life piloting... you have a video from way back in 2015 of your first solo flight... Any chance you have more footage like that. I know I'd love to see it and I'm sure most other subscribers would be very interested in that content too.
      I'm super looking forward to giving the P-39 a go! I've seen few videos of the cannon and it looks absolutely savage in a very good way. :-D

    +RequiemBoS *Thanks for the overview of a dedicated medium attack aircraft* that's not much more complicated than one pursuit type from the pilot's perspective. Excepting the dual cowl flap controls, the U.S./Douglas A-20 (with its twin Wright R-2600's) is similar to the U.S./Lockheed P-38 (with its counter-rotating Allison/GM V-1710's) in procedures. The gunner has the complications, as he has two Colt M2A1's (one above, one below).

    Thank you for coming back I love you so much I could kiss you your tutorials even for somebody like me who flies campaign with some of the assistants features which I'm not afraid to admit. I have no problem flying DCs but older aircraft, lack of time, is something that maybe when I have a nice week or too long vacation I'll try full real ISM. But your videos whether you're flying with assistance or full on realism are the perfect and best guides out there thank you for continuing your series.
    My next question would be is there any chance that you could do an update on the heinkel he-111 16? I don't know if there's a difference between the two however if there is I would love to know what makes the difference in flight performance and everything else if it is a minor upgrade from the he-111 H6 I would appreciate maybe just a comment explaining the differences thank you so much!!

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL Shae I didn't really go anywhere :-) My video output slowed down of course while I did my real life flight and airline training but I'm definitely still here! Thanks very much for being a long time viewer though, knowing you all enjoy these enough to come back and watch more is what drives me to keep creating them. I definitely try to gear these videos from my perspective as a pilot and not so much as a gamer, so however you choose to fly (assistance on or off) they should help.
      I've already completed the videos for the He-111 H16, Fw 190 A-5, and IL-2 1943 but I haven't done the voiceovers yet. I'll be cranking them out once I finish my current flying trip and get back home. The He-111 H16 climbs a little better and is a little faster, but for a full understanding of the differences between the He-111 H6 and H16 just have a look at the specifications tab.

    Thanks, Requiem - I actually managed to get it off the ground and land using just the in-game notes, but this clarifies a lot. Among other things, the manifold pressure recommendations relating to supercharger gear was not clear in the notes, and I don't believe the supercharger gear change procedure was mentioned. (Reducing power to switch gears makes a lot of sense - don't know whether this is also a good idea in Russian planes, but have always gotten away with it.
    I love the Peshka, but it seems to me 100 kg bombs have to hit the target fairly square and it just does not carry enough of them. (Nothing like the rain of doom from 16 -20 100 KG bombs rippling out of the bomb bay and wings.)

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah in the real thing you don't necessarily want to be at full power when you change the supercharger gears because that could possibly overboost the engine and cause damage. By being at reduced power first you ensure that any extra MP you gain by engaging the next supercharger stage is within engine limits. If you let all those bombs go at once you can actually feel the flight characteristics change due to the drastic weight change in a short period of time, it's pretty neat :)

    Are you a microphone pop filter? If not I would recommend it, while explaining the inside of the cockpit, it's possible to hear a few "pops" or annoying noises while talking. Despite those minor audio problems, video quality is still great, and explanations simple and understandable. Keep doing it like this! ;)

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Kastro, I'll do my best to avoid the pops. I think they usually come out with a "S" word or a "P" word unfortunately. I'll see about sticking a bit of foam on the mic to help.

    One thing I encountered (only one flight so far on "quick mission") - the A-20B seems to overheat more readily than other planes. (Full fuel load; 16 100 KG bombs; Kuban summer) Might it make sense to kick mixture to "Full Rich" temporarily to cool down the engines faster if you overheat the engines?

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello again Guard! The only time I've noticed problems with overheating the A-20 is if you don't have the lower cowls open all the way. They're not really supposed to be closed at all IIRC, while the ones on the top are only supposed to be open while on the ground. It does make sense to run a more rich mixture if you're suffering overheating though, but I don't know if that is modeled to a large degree in the sim.

  • @smigoltime
    @smigoltime 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    All great and beautiful, but how do I start the engines? they seem to stop working instantly after ignition

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That means your mixture is not set. Place it at the auto rich position to ensure fuel will keep being supplied to the engines after they start

    Hello, very nice informative video, I just like to know how to manage both engines with a: Thrustmaster Joystick T-16000M FCS Hotas

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Avec une simple manette des gaz, vous pouvez contrôler les deux moteurs ensemble car les deux moteurs seront sélectionnés, mais si un moteur est endommagé, il devient plus difficile à contrôler. Imaginez que le moteur 1 soit endommagé et que vous souhaitiez réduire la puissance. Vous devez appuyer sur 1 pour sélectionner le moteur 1, puis régler son régime ou son régime. Appuyez ensuite sur 2 pour sélectionner le moteur 2 afin de le sélectionner et de contrôler les choses normalement.

    This comment comes two years after the video was posted. Just discovered something by accident that is interesting. The Havoc won't let me open or close the upper cowl flaps individually; I must have both engines selected for the control to work. Weird, and frustrating, but not a deal breaker by any means.

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's by design from the devs because in the real airplane you controlled both "upper cowling gills" at once using a single control, so you need to select both engines in order to open/close them. It's at the lower right side next to the pilot seat.

      Hey Phuc Truong, this was actually something many people mentioned to me was "dead" time that didn't really serve a purpose since it was automated. This is why I removed it in the Battle of Kuban aircraft onwards and replaced it with the Pilot's Notes Section instead.
