      I actually have a question. How do you time the scaling of one model with another one? Like having a car model and a robot mode together to make it look legit. ( the ideal method)

    Honestly, I really like the idea of just making a model myself from scratch that has all the parts necessary to transform on its own and then just using that. I know it's way more work but it feels like it would be extremely satisfying.

    • @RAFMnBgaming
      @RAFMnBgaming 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah. It's not difficult to get something that fits what you were going for, providing you measure twice and cut once.
      Generally what I do is plan out what moves where ahead of time on paper so you have a rough idea of what makes sense in advance, then take it into Blender, block out all the moving parts and enough body work to see if things still make proportional sense. It's very easy to catch and avoid cases where parts would have to bend in natural looking ways (for unnatural and rigid metal) or clip through each other if you design what joints, rods and clearances you'll need as you're blocking things out, and minimize (though you don't need to give it up entirely especially with tyres because god they are annoying) where you'll have to cheat in obvious ways. It's a lot of fun if you're in to that sort of thing.
      The thing is it will look like an ugly pile of extruded cubes for most of figuring it out because you don't want to spend time making something pretty if it doesn't work.

      @@RAFMnBgaming Absolutely man. Since the 10months ago I posted the original comment, I've made crazy progress in blender and have been doing regular characters and rigging in the meantime. The cheating applies to everything apparently lol, not just transformers.

    As a learning transformers animator I make my models myself while using the action figure method which is honestly much easier

    I wouldn't lie, I would love a tuto for the "Ideal methode" for each archetype, rolling vehicles, flying and animals, really this can be so lovely 😭

  • @ZuluZizo
    @ZuluZizo ปีที่แล้ว +20

    There is also a 4th method that is a combination of these.
    You have 3 models: ALT mode (a model of ALT mode), TRANS mode (an 'action figure' model that has all the parts for both modes (if applicable to the transformation -- i.e. BOT mode has parts that cannot fit within ALT mode)), and BOT mode (a model based on the BOT mode).
    You can use the TRANS mode model whenever there is a transformation, so you have all parts from both modes without using a 'TRANS' mode model - that has lots of polys - in every scene... I think(?)
    Sorry for any bad English.

      i don't understand what you intend i tryed the straight swap but i don't understand how to dew it

    • @ZuluZizo
      @ZuluZizo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mattandgames The straight swap method is where you just up-scale one model and down-scale another (i find it easy if you need to cheat). I was refering to the action figure method where 1 model has the geometry/parts for both modes, but you don't use an action figure model for every scene if there is no transformation since it has too much useless geometry.

    Great video! Really informative, always wondered how transformations in SFM were done. I'd be tempted to try it out myself, but I'll probably explode my brain from trying to figure it all out. Maybe some time xD Keep it up man!

Would you mind make a SFM compilation videos about the transformation sequences, summoning weapons and transforming limbs into weapon deployments from the characters of Transformers: Prime CGI series? Please? I look forward to watch what they’re doing because they are awesome 🤩

    Nice video, I also made the mistake of not looking through the camera view often and concentrated on the main view, this lead to noticing things wrong when watching things render frame by frame, so much so that many times I would cancel the render and go back and fix the problems
