FPC V8's vibration nemesis is stroke length(forged aluminum pistons are fairly light) so something like a 4.050 inch(102.9mm) bore and a 3.25 inch(82.55mm) stroke for a rpm limitation range of 8500 to 9000. The SSC Tuatara has a 5.9L FPC V8 but dosen't have the longitivity/warranty requirements or the number of FPC V8 engines produced for the C8 that GM has. I think a 5.5L DOHC FPC V8 with totally independent variable valve timing, variable valve lift, direct fuel injection and peak horsepower at 8500 with a 9000 RPM redline(transmission capability/durability(N/A or Forced Induction) is a factor that limits engine rpm and there for horsepower as well) can produce 690 SAE HP/BHP(700PS) or 125 SAE HP per liter and still pass emissions(around 500 ft.lbs. of torque at 6000 rpm).

This car is the reason 2021 C8 Corvettes will handle better and be much more developed than first year models, which will hold the most colllectible value.
I think the once at the unveiling was the smaller flat planed turbo version (most gt regulations limit displacement on forced induction differently than natural aspiration)
What i find that is amazing, is how much gm listened to the public on the c8. It seems like the only things I can complain about of it is little and nit picky. The road going version of this engine is going to be amazing NA, supercharged or turbo. And the LT2 is no slouch in its own right. I can't wait to see what the c8 does with AWD, because you know that is coming one way or another. Not to mention GM's aftermarket is going to be chopping at the bit for this thing.

I was reading Race Tech magazine yesterday. They say the engine is the same spec as the C7R - but obviously with a flat plane crank - and not the DOHC 5.5L that's going in the street car. That makes sense since the rules are 5.0L DOHC, and they let them go to 5.5L because they use 2 valves per cylinder, and the DOHC 5.5L hasn't been homologated yet.

Got the video running BACKWARDS..!! The 'clue' is the number on the car... But Pit Exit is to the RIGHT at Road Atlanta, and the front Straight runs Clockwise, left to right... Knowing and riding this track personally, it makes all of this kind of funky to watch. Starting at about 2:30 it gets straightened out... coming thru #3 and down the hill thru the Esses (#4) and turn #5 and up the hill to #6 & #7 it is finally going the right way... (smile) I am just sorry that I couldn't be there for this Race Weekend, and to see the C8-R in person... and the Convertible C8... But I HAVE seen and sat in the new C8 elsewhere, already.
They have to make a production version of it for them to be able to use it here. The Z06 will have a very similar NA flat-plane crank engine. The displacement may be slightly bigger like the LS/LT, but it’ll resemble the racing engine real closely.
Action comes closer to my home, good show. From 2:13 to 2:17 you can be forgiven if you see glimpse of Ferrari 458 / 488. Secondly IMO C8"s rear end ( due to a little "depression" between tail lights ) handles the Wing / Spoiler very well. Better then C 7 ZR1, in terms of more homogeneous and not standing out.
I'm still very curious about the dyno numbers for the road going c8. Can't wait to see others dyno it. If that engine is producing 650hp na, than I can only imagine how fast and powerful it will be with forced induction.

Action comes closer to my home, good show. From 2:13 to 2:17 you can be forgiven if you see glimpse of Ferrari 458 / 488. Secondly IMO C8"s rear end ( due to a little "depression" between tail lights ) handles the Wing / Spoiler very well. Better then C 7 ZR1, in terms of more homogeneous and not standing out.
I'm still very curious about the dyno numbers for the road going c8. Can't wait to see others dyno it. If that engine is producing 650hp na, than I can only imagine how fast and powerful it will be with forced induction.
Generally they are regulated to around 500hp for most GT disciplines. Not that the engine isnt capable of much higher output
