Whenever clients ask for an editor, it always seems to be Premiere (youtube editing). After 1 year of FCP I’m honestly considering switching
Oooooo yea that’s a tough struggle! I’ve definitely seen clients looking for FCP editors OR better yet, no preference to software. BUT yes there’s lots of clients with a preference for premiere. That’s a hard decision! Could be worth it to know both platforms just in case!

You can find remote work on lots of different sites! Upwork and Fiverr are the most popular :)
I dont know if my editing skills are good or not. I make my videos on capcut. I tried to learn new things on TH-cam. 😅
CapCut is a great place to learn video editing, and some editors get jobs just through editing on CapCut or social platforms!

You could grab your phone and go shoot your own footage! You can also work with free stock footage found on sites like Pexels or Videvo

4:30 no I do not consider myself very creative. One reason why I never pursued video editing. But now I’m thinking of trying it. Recommendations if I should?

Do companies give you enough time to do it properly though, or are you always rushing and doing overtime? Does it take over your personal time, so you're always dreaming about video editing, clients, coworkers, bosses, etc.?
I love how she starts out with you don't have to learn everything in editing but later she says you have to to stay up with all the latest every changing field lol
Makes sense, meaning you don’t have to learn the software we used to have like movie maker. Only use the new stuff

I think the bigger question is: do you have the interest and determination to become a video editor, or would you just prefer it as a hobby? Anyone can be good enough to get paid for this, but like any career, it takes a lot of work and passion!

i want to start video editing i am taking a course on skillshare about adobe premiere pro and i am almost done with it the problem i have is practice where do i practice where do i find footage to edit i prefer editing gaming videos but it's really hard to find decent footage that i can edit
I’m working on a video for this exact problem! It’s a tough question, but essentially if you can’t get a clients, then make your own! Is it possible to screen record yourself on a game then edit it down?
Can i use Sony Vegas pro ? I know how to mask and also do mask transitions,make multiple smooth transitions , use twixtor or time remap,use text, black bars,edit audio etc . Would any of those things be useful ?
Also, I make anime edits, and I've also made some movie edits . Could I use my best work from those in my portfolio ?

Just ran into your video cause I’ve been thinking hard about getting into media film/photographer cause when I edit my lil TikTok’s I just be in love all day finding the right clips and audio to go along with it.. so I think it’s something I would enjoy doing as a career. One of my first concerns or question though is do we have to have 2 desktop screens to work with the different software u mentioned in the video?? Or a laptop/ipad would suffice?
I edited in just my laptop for many years. If it’s powerful enough I think that’s fine! You may get annoyed with the small screen after awhile but I think it’s better to just start with what you have and then slowly upgrade to bigger and better things from there :)

I got skilled at editing while supporting myself in other jobs, but every application I see demands to be salaried in the field for at least 5 years. How do I get around this trap? Someone has to be willing to hire someone who hasn't worked in the field for years. No one can get that experience unless someone hires them for their first time!

It all depends on what niche you’re looking to get into! But if you’re just starting out I would just put in your best looking work no matter what it is.
