    A lot of compares as of late, but...one thing we glossed over previously….center channels. We unboxed, we disassembled, but we have yet to do a side by side. Today is the day ladies and gentleman. Well, for a top and bottom anyways…configuring them side by side would be less…well…
    you get it…
    anyways, come along on this journey with us as we point out the differences in the RP-504C and the RC-64 III in music as well as paired with a RP8000F for some movie and video game samples.
    As always, thanks for watching!

    Great comparison fellas! I've got a pair of KG-5.2's and a RC-62ii and love 'em. I've found that for my set up the RC-62 fills in the weak mid range of my KG-5.2 quite nicely. I have some hearing loss due to years of being a diesel mechanic and farming, I love voice forward Klipsch horn speakers as I can hear voices in movies much easier than any other brand I tried. I gave $350 for the RC-62 in 2015. Klipsch were the first speakers that allowed me to hear little details that most speakers don't. I hear things like the guitarist's fingers rubbing the strings that I'd never heard before, mind blowing!

    I just upgraded from the rp280f to the rf7iii and then upgraded my rp450c to the rc64iii. The rc64iii blended better to the rf7iii than the rp450c did. Also the rc64iii has a noticeable clarity difference especially when watching movies at higher volumes. The 450c struggled a little at higher reference type volumes .

      @@swirvin704 sorry l just noticed this reply. The upgrade was 100% worth it. The rf7iii are a huge upgrade over the rp280f. As for the center the rc64iii is a bit cleaner in the vocals and projects in the room better. It pairs better with the rf7s better than the 450c did.

    I prefer the smoothness of the 504C on the bottom and top end, it`s just less fatiguing for long listing, I couldn`t make it through a movie with the RC--64III it`s just sharp and bright on the top in. It`s weird, the RC-64III goes back and forth, bright and cheap sounding then perfectly blending the top and bottom end. The 504C stays smooth throughout like my Paradigm and Bower and Wilkins speaks.

      @TopShelfAudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for your thoughts! What amp were you using when you ran your tests/couldn't watch an entire movie? A lot of what people find to be lacking in the 7s as well as in the 64 is due to a lack of power. To get those larger drivers really moving and sounding great needs a lot of power.

      Love the 600C as a space saver design. It sounds great just like the rest of the series but the cabinet volume is somewhat limiting. If you can fit the larger units, you would see an improvement. But if not, it will outperform most anything similar in size/shape.

    Prime example, Listen to the 504C at @19:45 until 19:55, you get the vocal high notes with a smooth top end and can hear at the same time every bass not from the drummer blended smoothly, then the switch to the RC-64III and all the bass from the drummer goes missing and the drums like a transistor radio or boom box (cheap), the vocals stay forward, clear and bright but thin and sharp because the bass is removed.

    I'm trying to listen to your videos of the RP-504C gen 1 vs gen 2 and this one back to back to try and compare the RP-504 gen 2 to the RC-64 gen 3. I felt like the RP-504C gen 2 offered the tighter and more controlled low end and a closer clearity to the RC-64 gen 3, but without the listening fatigue you might get from that RC-64 gen 3 due to its zingy nature close to the upper human hearing range.
    So if I had to choose I would probably go for a RP-504C gen 2 which saves me a lot of money, and with that buy something else nice or put it towards some better front speakers for normal music listening in the livingroom (where we do our watching and listening).

    • @TopShelfAudio
      @TopShelfAudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! Really all depends on your end game. I would recommend matching so, if you plan to go with the 7s, go with the 64 as it will be able to better "keep up" if you are pushing your system. If you were going with the 8000s, the 504 will be a great option and be similar in power handling.

    Last month, I purchased the Klipsch RP-8000F II with Klipsch SPL-150 subwoofers and RP-404C II center channel. In my opinion, the sealed 404c II can't keep up with the ported RP-8000F IIs. Entertainment Cabinet space limits me to the RP-404C II. The ported 504C will not fit.

    • @TopShelfAudio
      @TopShelfAudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! In your amp/receiver, you may want to bring back the 8000s to match better if the center is having trouble keeping up. My upgrade path was R-25C to RP-440C to RP-504C. The RP line is a huge step up from the reference line. R-25C sound very "boxy" and narrow. RP-504 will likely be more than enough for your situation if you are satisfied with the R-25C. I picked up the RP-504C in immaculate condition on offer up for $300 cash. The RC-64III is not worth it unless you have a massive room, huge wallet, and a separate amplifier. I was VERY surprised with the RP-440C. The improvement in vocal clarity and soundstage was immense, coming from the R-25C. I also got my R-25C for cheap, I think like $60 or so.

    • @TopShelfAudio
      @TopShelfAudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      100% your call. We didn't notice much of a difference in timbre. most of what you see going between the two is going to be power handling and the center channels ability to "keep up" when you are pushing the 7s. The 64 is certainly a big step up, but when listening at low volumes or not pushing the 7s super hard, the 504 will do a great job.

    • @TopShelfAudio

      Before I say this, I want to lead with; the 7s probably do sound great with that amp, as I've pushed em with something similar and they sounded good.
      Now, that said, they are probably a bit hungry for more juice. The 504 can likely keep up because you aren't able to push the 7s to their full capabilities with that AVR. If you were to upgrade amps and unleash the true potential of the 7s, you may notice the 504 start to fall behind a bit.
      If you are happy with your setup as is, no need to rock the boat. Buuuut...even at lower volumes, the sound of the 7s will improve with more available power.

Receivers typically cap out in the 150WPC range which would be a decent fit for the speakers you listed. My thing is. Upgrading this vs the l and r is huge cost difference. 4500 or so vs 1500 or however much it is. So imo if you have a 5.1 do 64 iii first. Thats my opinion. Im debating on which to buy.

      the real wood veneer and real compression driver of the RF / RC's just make it much better once you crank it up. Down low it's hard to tell the difference. Otherwise that compression driver is really noticeable on cymbals, glass breaking, the beater on the skin of kick drums, etc. Call me sometime about the rf-7 iii. 270-556-8427

    seems like the 64 is the clear winner. Doesn't seem as much bass, but clearer, especially vocals (purpose of a center channel)

    To my very untrained ears, the RC-64 III's sound better. Listening to this video on a Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system, and there's a noticeable difference.

      Problem? Na. We see a lot of people that can only justify upgrading one component at a time and rock them for years like that. If you want to upgrade one first then the rest down the line, that's completely fine.

    Is the jump to a rc64iii and rf7iii that much of a difference to warrant almost quadruple the price of the rp series gen 2 I have I paid 1300 for my lcr 504c and 5000f gen 2 the rc64iii alone is more than my three speakers

    • @TopShelfAudio
      @TopShelfAudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      In short, yes. It's a huge difference. The RP line is awesome and is by no means a slouch, especially with the latest gen upgrades edging it closer and closer to the 7s but...given the right power and environment, the 7s will blow them away every time. Does the upgrade justify the cost? That will be more of a personal question as, the answer will vary for everyone depending on their listening needs and their environment.

      Regular price is relative. Was mostly saying its not on sale like the RP line currently. Unfortunately with the market, regular price/retail is higher now than a year or two ago. Time will tell where these prices are headed. We will see. But hopefully they curve in the other direction soon.

      Yes it can, and it'll sound great. It's a pretty great matchup for the 8ks and the 600s. That said, the 64III could handle a bit more power if given. If you are rocking this system and find you are missing a bit in the center, you could always add an external amp using the pre-outs on the receiver to give it that extra umph.

    Much less dramatic differences (at least based on TH-cam) as opposed to your RP-8000F vs RF7 III battle where the differences were vast. I am sad as I had a AV cabinet built 7 years ago and it can't accommodate the 64, I have a RC-62ii currently, but would be forced to use a RP-404C in the current lineup.

    • @TopShelfAudio
      @TopShelfAudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The differences are for sure there but don't always come across over the mic. I would take a 64 any day of the week if budget was no concern.

      @@TopShelfAudio The 62ii seems to be fine, I just know it does not measure when on some reviews has a few holes in the frequency response.
