    I'm not a LDS-member, but i have decided to take part in the Come, Follow Me study this year because i feel the Church has some interesting ideas, despite some, i admit, strange doctrines from the perspective of someone who grew up in a catholic household
    The interesting part to me is that when i decided to take part in the study program, i thought "All right, i'm going to try this experiment. If by the end of the year i feel the Book of Mormon is true, then i will continue my research. Because if this book is true, then i will have to accept everything else as true, no matter how strange some ideas may sound"
    And after that i decided to read a random verse from the Book of Mormon before starting to study it for real, and the verse i found was Alma 32:33, which said the same thing i had just thought, but with another words, almost as if it was an answer to my thoughts
    "And now, behold, because ye have tried the experiment, and planted the seed, and it swelleth and sprouteth, and beginneth to grow, ye must needs know that the seed is good."

      Underline every time you see the name of Christ. It will help you see that it is truly another witness of Christ. Always pray before you study and take a few moments to note what you have learned. I wish for you to feel the love and goodness of the Savior as you study. We want you to know the truth.

      Welcome! Your life will be blessed because of your sincere desire to know if The Book of Mormon is true. With the sincere desire in your heart, the Lord, thru the Holy Ghost, will grant/reveal to you a testimony of the truthfulness of this book, of His gospel, and of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints.

      I grew up Catholic, went to Catholic school, and my whole family is Catholic. You really need to find out for yourself if you can live the laws and accept the ordinances of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by HIS CHURCH, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I converted over 20 years ago. My parents and most of my family were not happy about my choice at that time, basically, I think because they just did not understand. As you study more, hopefully, you will come to the understanding that this really IS the true church of Jesus Christ. I know the upbringing I had actually led me to where I chose to be now. I understand so much more as I attend the Temple. When you reach that point and beyond, you will see how simple the Gospel really is. No more mysteries to wait for when I die, as was mostly the answer I got from Catholics. But be warned: (I took this from The Chosen) Jesus does expect a lot from those who truly follow HIM. The rewards of the Celestial Kingdom far outweigh everything else. Your life will be changed and you will be blessed beyond your expectations, here on Earth, but more so, after you cross through the veil into Eternity. That is my goal. I am praying that you continue your search with an open mind and heart. The Church of Jesus Christ is the best place to be!

    When I was a kid at 8 years old, I wasn’t interested in reading books. However, I praised my scripture teacher who taught the class each chapter vividly by telling stories with her emotions. As a kid, I did not remember everything I read but I could remember what my teacher told me. She was an excellent story teller. I became interested in Jesus and the Bible because of the stories she told each class. Even u this age now, I still love to listen to stories.

    18:01 I hate to say it, but it is why we are here. Faith in good times is sweet. Faith in troubling and even painful days is spiritually profound to the point of sublime. I have never seen Heavenly Father's face but I felt him looking at me during a particularly desperate moment when I begged him for a tender mercy. As sure as you are reading these words, He answered me with a peace I can never describe adequately, and that tender mercy was granted. It is a daily reminder to me how much He loves little ol' me.

He promises us that when we do these things, he will be with us, the holy ghost is with us. A tender mercy each and every day. That's why he's asked us to pray and read the scriptures. I hope you know you're loved. ❤️📖

    T& T Brothers, INSPIRATIONAL and UPLIFTING are two words to describe 1 Nephi 1-5 this week. My favorite principle was the Faith and Faithfulness are ALWAYS rewarded!! This certainly applied to Lehi's family who made a great sacrifice to leave behind wealth, land and ALL that they held precious. In the Lord's economy, whenever we give up something or go without, we find ourselves in EVENTUAL possession of more or greater. Lehi and his family will eventually gain a greater weight of glory and a multiplicity of blessings. So is the case with us in our day as we are asked to make sacrifices be it monetary etc. Our greater weight of glory is a Celestial Home!!!! Love our two transitional words to separate ideas and thoughts (Cause n Effect) Therefore and Wherefore !!!!

    It would be really great if these were re-added to the feed on Apple Podcasts so they were easier to find. I've always listened to the podcast version on my commute, but so far this year, none of the Book of Mormon CFM Insights episodes have shown up in the feed. I've tried to go back and find the original 2020 episodes, but it's kind of a hassle. Thanks.

    My family lived in the middle east for years and because of that we have many Islamic friends. My parents wish they had written down a conversation they had with one particular Muslim friend from Saudi after they had given him a copy of the Book of Mormon. This man was really well read. He opened it and he was shocked. He said several of the names had meaning in a really obscure dialect. From what my parents remember Lehi meant something like White beard, and I think Nephi meant something about a leader??? I'm less certain about that one, I might have to talk to my parents again. He also talked about how amazing it was from a cultural standpoint to read many other things that aligned with arab culture.

    Fantastic lesson brethren. I can just picture how upset Laman and Lemuel were when all of their precious stuff was stolen by Laban. They probably had very high hopes of returning to Jerusalem and having money. Interesting that the guy who coveted the costly goods and stole it never got to enjoy it

  • @rtharalson
    @rtharalson 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Nephi killing Laban is reason enough to dismiss the BoM. Don't take my word for your. Take the word of Pres Nelson. "
    How can we have freedom of religion if we are not free to compare honestly, to choose wisely, and to worship according to the dictates of our own conscience?12 While searching for the truth, we must be free to change our mind-even to change our religion-in response to new information and inspiration."
    Be brave and set aside group think and motivated reasoning. Read the story. Think about the story. Is it good. Is it rational. Maybe you are ok with it. Maybe you are not. I meet very few mormons that are comfortable enough in their own belief that they can acknowledge the difficulty of the story and recognize some reject it.

  • @3blenders
    @3blenders 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You have an interesting turn on their names. We must remember that Emma Smith described Joseph's translating where he spelled the names. Nephi can be pronounced using all the letters or the way English has it but it's not really an English name. The "I" on the end of words is possessive meaning "My Beauty or best." A good name for a favored son. Sarai of course has a link to Sarah of Abraham. And of course Laman and Lemuel come from the words "AMAN" (Faith) and "EMUEL" (Hope) so it's as if Lehi (a name meaning "A Little Thing" as in the Old Testament) is giving his sons commandments "L" (go to or towards). Some have suggested to me that the "L" means no or not. Who would name their children "infidel" or "Hopeless"? That's rather silly. As for Sam, well, in ancient Arabic and Egyptian especially, it means Chap or Young one. Finally, for the place where Ishmael was buried, the Arabic word for it is used in other places such as Capernaum or Kafr Nahum meaning the village of Morning. One of my Arabic instructors' parents where Bedouins and are buried close to that same location in Saudi Arabia where Ishmael is buried. The big question would be...how did Lehi pass my Mecca seeing tradition has it that Abraham built it and it is "The Mother of All Settlements" in the area?
