“My kayak’s leaking but the fish are biting. I think I’ll hang for a bit.” Hardcore! I love it! Love those baits, too. 1/4 oz for Alamitos and Long Beach.
Well, personally when I use and this is just me, I use a Shimano Terramar 8 foot 8 to 17 pound southeastern spinning raw. That’s a really hard to find honestly any 7 to 7 1/2 foot graphite. Rod should do the trick and as far as reels 2500 to 3000 should be just fine for the bay. I wouldn’t go any heavier than about 20 pound braid The heavy braid on those light reels definitely affects casting a lot.
I use a verity of setups all spinning. Typically my Shimano or Okuma 2500 or 3000 size reel on a 7 to 8 ft. Medium/light rod. 6 to 12 lb and 8 to 20 lb rated
Take off those rod tubes and seal them with silicone my dude. We have the same kayak and i run xi3 on it too and it makes it a pretty heavy rig in the front. While you're at it seal the hatch right underneath you too. No need to be fancy with it, i didnt take off the hatch just applied it on the outside.
Was a great day! Awesome seeing you out there with the CHF family!
Good day on the water. Better when you get to do it with your brothers from CHF!! Thanks again Chad for sharing this video.
That was a good day fishing.
Best!! 🤙🏽
