It's a neat little game, clearly made with passion behind it. A 4 megabit MMC3 cart with battery back-up, this should really be the norm for RPGs on the little 9 year old system.

"She won't let it go" - love it. Well done.

I have never played this one, but the game is more famous because of the story behind its creation rather than the game itself.
And not many positive comments about the hard grinding stuff.

The magazine RPG idea sounds fun. It reminds me a bit of some of the gamebook Let's Plays (Let's Read?) I've participated in on the forums over the years.

7:04 LOL! hat's off for the Frozen joke, haha. As for Double Moon Legend? I appreciate some of the ideas like the specific targeting of body parts on the monsters (seems like the distant ancestor to Fallout 3's V.A.T.S. system) but man, sticking players with a two-hour long grind right out of the gate to get anywhere does not sound fun. It is a super interesting backstory on how the game came about it did seem like a really neat idea starting off as a magazine-based choose your own adventure kinda thing.

I only played this briefly, but I think the character RndStranger chose likely made this worse. I tried a Paladin, and while the game is still very grindy, at least you start out with a healing spell and are a bit less squishy! 😆

@@sjake8308 yeah I'd seen that happen before, winding up with the worst choice. but props that they'd just roll with it.

The concept behind this game reminds me a bit of the cancelled Mega Drive RPG Moon Dancer, which was also based on a serialized RPG conceived by a gaming magazine (Beep in this case).

The endgame here is just ridiculous. Even though I've beaten DMD, it is not worth your time 😮

Which is weird, because I feel like I’ve seen it recommended a few times.

I remember there was a cheat for this game where you could make your player character a female. I wonder why that's even a cheat to begin with.

Every time you talk about the "10,000 yen club," my inner former NES collector is like, "Damn, Japanese collectors have it easy!"
(10,000 yen is roughly $70 USD)

I needed some mark to say, "This is an expensive Famicom game!" and 10k seemed like the natural boundary. Of course, I decided that before the dollar went a bit nuts.

They should've released an NES version or spin-off of Langrisser instead of this

I didn't like this one very much, and I played through a considerably bigger chunk. The grind only seems to get worse; supposedly the last part is horrible, but I never got there. For 1992 it's honestly kinda unremarkable. Also, it doesn't look/sound like a 1992 RPG, more like something from the 80s. I mean, there have been so many better RPGs in the 90s that I'm not surprised this one kinda got lost in the shuffle.
