I was one of the first visitors to the pool. At the time I was unemployed, and part of my routine was to read the paper. The LA Times had an article on a Friday morning on the place. After reading about it, I put the paper down and drove 30 minutes in a rush to MAK, and got the key. That afternoon me and a friend went out there and just chilled out. The pool was still relatively hidden from the dirt road, and unless you were looking for it, you'd go right by it. Either way, a very cool experience.
Someone even tried to restore it, and was working to get it back up and running. At some point during the restoration, vandals showed up and burned it. Although I do not know if the claims are valid there are several people claiming/regurgitating in comments sections related to this pool that they destroyed it, due to it being "trash and pollution disguised as art", sadly, I saw similar claims about the desert monoliths, which also ended up being destroyed. Some seemingly insane people (whom most likely created nothing worthy of note or attention) seem to encourage and participate in the destruction of rare and wonderful creations, using the hatred of all things man made as an excuse for being destructive (usually using man made tools to do so) as well often as an excuse to be miserable piece of shit in general. I suppose THOSE WHO CANNOT CREATE, who hold envy and resentment to those who can and do, tend to destroy instead, what total loosers.

More likely just a stolen or dumped motorhome, or used for a short time as a meth lab. Who knows. Thanks for watching! Please give the video a like and subscribe for more offbeat stuff!
Why do people always vandalize and destroy everything, the dark side of humans.
Interestingly, the same thing doesn't happen in some other countries. Russia has plenty of soviet era ruins, entire towns abandoned without any graffiti, Japan is the same way. I don't know what it is about Americans that makes us so disrespectful.
I suppose THOSE WHO CANNOT CREATE, who hold envy and resentment to those who can and do, tend to destroy instead, what total loosers.
excellent video. looks like it was burned away. good chance it was first destroyed by wind then once it became useless people set it on fire. Desert winds tear everything apart. So it may not totally be vandals, although once the water was gone / people would likely shoot it and set it on fire.
Thank you! It actually fell into disrepair maybe a year after it was built, just from the elements, then someone came along and destroyed it. It was more or less rebuilt, and then destroyed again, and then I think everyone just gave up. Thanks for watching, Please give the video a like and subscribe for more offbeat stuff!
Damn, that’s a grave!
Almost looks that way.
@@SurrealAdventure Ah, I listen to too many true crime podcasts and videos! Lol!
If there was a pool there before wouldn't all the dirt be leveled ? Why is there a pile of dirt sitting next to that grave 🤔
personally prefer the desert without ugly hole and plastic trash. Why didn't they clean up the site?
There is nothing left to clean up. Just a hole, out in the middle of nowhere.
Its where motorhomes arw put to Collecting the insurance. Owners need a place to dump the say they were stolen collecting insurance.
I can't believe people do this no respect for the nature/desert.
Didn’t take long at all. Once word got out it was there, it was gone in a year or so.
Always a A-hole who has to tear things up. Sad.
Yeah, this is why we can't have nice things. If this were in Japan, it would probably still be there in 100 years.
booooooooo🥺
I have never heard of the social pool until a few years ago. It was already too late. I never got to chill there with a few friends.😔
It didn't last long.
Just goes to show we can't have nice things.
Nope. Lol. It wasn’t far enough from civilization. Next time it needs to be on the moon. The only way.
Looks like an old meth lab that was abandoned.
Someone else that was familiar with that area claimed in a comment, that is exactly what that R.V. was used for. Thanks for watching, please give the video a like and subscribe for more offbeat stuff!
wait this aint fallout new vegas
Your at least the third person to mention Fallout New Vegas. Never played, maybe I should. Last guy was mentioning he was waiting for a giant scorpion.
Course vandals destroyed it
That is pretty cool if you are out there or passing for ? Not a trip I amLikely to take to go to a pool. I do enjoy off road and fast desert trails in a luxury style prerunnerwith long wheel travel and the modern position sensative shocks that are tunable and have shock oil resiviors seporate per shock .THE kINGS and some top brands with similar tech can turn your off road vehicle into a whoop taming permagrin creatingsmooth ride in safer controlnot spilling your drink . that is safe while doing this!! THERE ARE ALWAYS SURPRISES OFF ROADING AND THE FASTER YOU GO THE MORE BRUTAL THEY BECOME AND YOU SEE IT TOO LATE ! stopping fastenough or steering around them are not an option with off road surprises at a fast pace. YES the words OFF ROAD AINT CHEAP can land on you fast doing this. BE carefull of others that are out there like youi too. YOU THINK WHO WOULD BE THIS FAR OUT ? wELL YOU MAY NOT BE THE ONLYBRAVE ONE. wEATHER THEY HAVE A JEEP IN A GROUP SPOTTING EACH OTHER OFF A CUIRB. ANICE OFF ROAD GULF CART SIZE CCAPABLE OFF ROADER OR MOTORCYCLES ETC.. tHERE WERE SOME HIPPIE TYPE ?THAT WENT JUST CAMPING in GLAMMIS . THEY WERE CAUGHT PARKING IN THE NO GO HABITAT/PLANT SANCTUARY WITHOUT EVEN paying to camp. They are out there where you least suspect .Know where you go is safe and cllear!!!
Be Safe skilled and build strong.THE Single weakest part wwill break ! just being in places conditions broken or stuck can be deadly!! Have fun keep getting dirty !
Good place for a mob guy to have buried a body
They have the whole desert for that.
Ever heard of Tecopa hot tub, or hepatitis spring?
Lol. Never heard of hepatitis spring, but I'll look it up. I've been through Tecopa Hot Springs, it's a beautiful little edge of nowhere resort off of Death Valley Road, north of Baker.
Can we seriously fix western society. I'm so sick of the degeneracy
I was thinking if this were in Japan somewhere, it would last 500 years.
@@SurrealAdventure agreed, it amazes me how they have whole stores the run on the honour system and just have a wooden box for payment with no cashier. Only in Japan could you run a store like that and not have it get ruined the first day.
0/10 I don't see any deathclaws or NCR rangers.
Giant scorpions were everywhere.
California, a third world country. The Mojave desert is a big open dumping ground.
Just bc it's in the desert, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, doesn't mean you can do whatever you want and nobody cares...leaving that hole is no different than leaving that motorhome. As an artist I expect more from them.

Very close to my house and I saw the MAGA Spray paint and racist words on the trailer. Makes sense.
I didn't see any MAGA anything anywhere, and I actually had to edit out a lot of racially insensitive things that were spray painted all over one side of that R.V. Which is why you don't see the side with the door. None of it was MAGA.
😥
Very sad people feel the need to just be destructive alcohol obviously plays into it but who would be drinking alcohol in the desert I can't see sober people just destroying things for no reason although nowadays it wouldn't surprise me.

The infamous "tweeker" species is known for being destructive and prolific thieves.Plentiful around them parts!
I hate pretentious artists so damn much.
An outdoor pool needs daily maintenance to keep it clean.....
