The song you just heard is from the album Once, released in 2004. This is the group's fifth album. Nightwish is a Finnish band that started in 1996. The band has 9 studio albums, the first 5 were recorded with Tarja, the woman you just heard. The second singer is Anette, who recorded 2 albums, and the current singer is Floor, who has also recorded two albums so far. The three vocalists have completely different voices and styles, but each one is good in its own way. The five albums with Tarja are influenced by Gothic metal, power metal, symphonic music and folk music. Tarja uses operatic vocals, a characteristic that has helped to create the band's identity in the past. Nightwish was the first group to have a lyrical singer as a lead singer. Since Anette, the band has focused on vocals sung in belting and in elements of symphonic metal and folk music. Tarja left the band in 2005, at a time when TH-cam did not yet exist. Nightwish has these two songs. If you want to see "Beauty AND the beast", there is a good live performance on the dvd "From wishes to eternity". This is the band's first DVD. It was recorded in 2000 and released in 2001. Another iconic live performance is "The Phantom of the Opera", recorded on the DVD "End of an era". Floor is an amazing singer, her voice is absolutely amazing, but Tarja singing is a Goddess, even the band is more enthusiastic, and she is so much natural.

Hello. Let me give a few facts and ignore personal subjuective feelings. This was recorded live October 21, 2005. Hartwell areana. Helsinki Finland. Last night of a world tour. Band mememers first name/role Keyboards/writer/ex-male vocalist before Marko joined. Bassist/male vocals Marko Drummer Jaku Lead guitar Empu Lead singer ( can play keyboards as well. Fun fact her mother was the local music teacher in the small village outside Kittee Finland who taught Thoumas. Tarja ( taarr ee-yaa). In attendance 11 500. The orchestra was the London UK's. They were pre recorded as were the backing vocals by Tarja herself. It allowed her to accompony herself doing the vocals. Jaku left for health reasons a few years ago. Marko joined in 2001. About 10 years older and had sang in two bands before Nightwish. Left the bandbin December 2021. His successor has been chosen and is performing with them live in 2022. Tarja is been solo since 2007 with as many released works as Nightwish's whole catalouge. She has been the definition of churning out hit after hit. Latest project is called Outlanders. Stripped down sound. Her latest visualizer of Land of Sea and sun featuted guitar by Vernon Reed of In Living Colour . Filmed in Antigua. You will be/were amazed how well Tarja and Marko can blend their voices. Look up Phantom of the Opera from the same concert. Hello. Some information. You hear correctly. The orchestra is in fact the London UK philharmonic. And the choir is Metro Voices. They recorded music for the album Once (2004). This was for their 5th album Once. The tour was called Once upon a tour. It was the last night Tarja was with Nightwish. She was a founded of the band along with Tuomas ( key boards), Emppu ( guitar). 1996 -2005 for her. Its enough to know that there was much drama and hurt feelings in the split. But now there have been apologies and forgiveness. You can hear and see Tarja on the first 5 albums. Angels Fall First, Oceanborne, Wishmaster, Century Child and Once. The choir and orchestra have been on every album since Once. The current lead sing Floor Jansen and Tarja (taa-rr-ee-aa) Turunen (two-roo-nen) were friends already and still are to this day. They have even sung together when Floor was Tarja's guest during a Women in Metal concert. Tarja went solo after this. 2007 to present with 10 albums, an auto biography, a side project Outlanders due out Jan 2023. A Best of:Living the dream was out as of December 2022. She has 3 live specials. 2 live concert DVDs. She has had and is having an amazing career. Nightwish is still going strong. How cute, but as an older I see that the youth missed a lot, the first time I saw nightwish 2000 in Wacken (yes, as a German simple) with Tarja Turunen at the time, and yes it was unbelievable, even a camera cannot capture the atmosphere. Also in 2008 with Anette Olzon (thank God you stay true to Wacken) was not really worse than with Tarja. And most recently in 2013 in Wacken with Floor Jansen, I am happy to have seen all 3 concerts live. I love Nightwish's music and only "for me" were Tarja Turunen and Floor Jansen who had impressed me the most. It's a shame that today's young people can't or don't want to experience that anymore. I absolute adore and love Floors version in Wacken. That performance is fantastic, no doubt, but of some reasons I have started to like this version more than Floors. The orchestral parts sounds more impressive and Tarjas voice is matching that so well. That ending with the orchestra in this version could go on for ever.....

There are plenty of beautiful songs of Nightwish with Tarja (also from her solo career). By Nightwish I recommend "Sleeping Sun" by this DVD, "Dead boy's poem", ''Walking in the Air'' and "Swanheart" by another DVD called "From Wishes to Eternety", and from her solo career I love "Until My last breath". Those are my recommendations, but i just hope you keep going on Tarja and Nightwish.

I was hoping on Ghost Love Score liveversion Wacken 2013 with the amazing singer Floor Jansen ( most versitaly singer in the world and current singer of Nightwish). This is the old singer Tarja, also a fantastic singer, but Floor nailed this song in Wacken in front of 82000 fans. Nightwish is a very popular band. Girl, you chose the right one. Tarja recorded this song and made it incredible, I don't know what the problem is in accepting that fact. People piss off asking for Wacken's version, but this one is much better for me, because it is complete, just like on the CD (orchestra, choir).

I’ve been to a lot of concerts, and this performance isn’t that epic. It looks cool with all of the lighting and the fan blowing her hair. The camera guy did an amazing job too. If this same performance was filmed in 2005 with the same stage production as Tarja’s, no one would care about it. It wouldn’t be anything special. In about five years when this video is outdated, something else will come along.

You are clearly impressed by Nightwish. You heard their first singer Tarja. Funny you said that you have been 'floored'. You now have to check out their current singer Floor Jansen. She takes nearly all of their (old) songs even to a higher level and this song in particular. As I am a Flooraholic here is some background information on our Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen. She joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. My favourite song is 'Energize Me'. They made a very beautiful music video out of this. After Forever disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song, such as from full operatic to serious growls in seconds. The songs 'Disdain' and 'Wild Card' are good examples. September 2012 came the call from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the American Tour as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. The lyrics of the songs of Nightwish are very poetic and the music as a whole is challenging, but Floor pulled it off and she stayed for the whole world tour, culminating in the already mentioned iconic Wacken 2013 Open Air festival. There was a documentary ('Please Learn the Setlist in 48 Hours') made of their world tour and this transition of singers plays a big role. It was obvious that the combination Nightwish and Floor Jansen was made in Walhalla, so she became a permanent member of the band in 2013 as the relationship with Annette and the band was strained even before she became ill. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp' for a couple of years, but it became clear that she could combine the two for much longer, so Revamp disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived in the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died' is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on TH-cam. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid siuation, Floor discovered TH-cam in the last year and uploaded many interesting videos on her channel. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses and so much more. Her 'Fan Friday' videos are hilarious. She even made a video reacting to herself performing 'Ghost Love Score' at Wacken 2013. As Floor is a high sensitive person, peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band 'Sabaton'); daughter Freja (just turned 4 yaears last month); a horse and pony; a dog and 3 cats, she found this.

I Love TARJA'S VOICE
The song you just heard is from the album Once, released in 2004. This is the group's fifth album. Nightwish is a Finnish band that started in 1996. The band has 9 studio albums, the first 5 were recorded with Tarja, the woman you just heard. The second singer is Anette, who recorded 2 albums, and the current singer is Floor, who has also recorded two albums so far. The three vocalists have completely different voices and styles, but each one is good in its own way. The five albums with Tarja are influenced by Gothic metal, power metal, symphonic music and folk music. Tarja uses operatic vocals, a characteristic that has helped to create the band's identity in the past. Nightwish was the first group to have a lyrical singer as a lead singer. Since Anette, the band has focused on vocals sung in belting and in elements of symphonic metal and folk music. Tarja left the band in 2005, at a time when TH-cam did not yet exist. Most of the videos of live performances with her were posted by fans. Some have good recording quality, but others do not. One channel that usually has good videos is the Nightwish Arena. As for Anette, despite being less old than Tarja, it is more difficult to find good live recordings of her. Regardless, Anette has a better skill in the studios than live. Floor started as a temporary member in 2012 and became official in 2013. It is easier to find videos of her with better recording quality. Many of them were posted by the band itself. There is live recording of this song, but the quality is horrible, even in the remastered videos. Because of this, I strongly recommend the studio version of this song so as not to ruin your experience. It is important not to confuse "Beauty OF the beast" with "Beauty AND the beast". Nightwish has these two songs. If you want to see "Beauty AND the beast", there is a good live performance on the dvd "From wishes to eternity". This is the band's first DVD. It was recorded in 2000 and released in 2001. Another iconic live performance is "The Phantom of the Opera", recorded on the DVD "End of an era". For me this is one of the best presentations that Nightwish has ever made. In fact, both the "From wishes to eternity" dvd and the "End of an era" dvd are wonderful.
Floor is an amazing singer, her voice is absolutely amazing, but Tarja singing is a Goddess, even the band is more enthusiastic, and she is so much natural.

Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing here in 2005 in the "End Of An Era" concert, in Helsinky, Finland, then with Tarja Turunen, the first female singer of the band. This was also Tarja's last concert with the band, she was fired immediately after the show, with an open letter. Bitter-sweet memories..
Also a recent sad news - these days Marco Hietala, the bass player and male singer of the band, announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.

This is your first Nightwish reaction, so it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals) - you just heard her. She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile).
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Hello. Some information. You hear correctly. The orchestra is in fact the London UK philharmonic. And the choir is Metro Voices. They recorded music for the album Once (2004). This concert was the final date filmed October 21, 2005 in Helsinki Finland. The band is Finnish. English is the unofficial 2nd language. The band pioneered if not invented synphonic metal. This was for their 5th album Once. The tour was called Once upon a tour. It was the last night Tarja was with Nightwish. She was a founded of the band along with Tuomas ( key boards), Emppu ( guitar). 1996 -2005 for her. Its enough to know that there was much drama and hurt feelings in the split. But now there have been apologies and forgiveness. You can hear and see Tarja on the first 5 albums. Angels Fall First, Oceanborne, Wishmaster, Century Child and Once. The choir and orchestra have been on every album since Once. The current lead sing Floor Jansen and Tarja (taa-rr-ee-aa) Turunen (two-roo-nen) were friends already and still are to this day. They have even sung together when Floor was Tarja's guest during a Women in Metal concert. Tarja went solo after this. 2007 to present with 10 albums, an auto biography, a side project Outlanders due out Jan 2023. A Best of:Living the dream was out as of December 2022. She has 3 live specials. 2 live concert DVDs. She has had and is having an amazing career.

The drummer Jukka joined shortly after the band formed along with original bassist Sammi. Now the drummer retired from on stage work for health reasons in 2014(?). He is in management for the band now Sammi was fired in early 2001. The viking you see on stage is Marko he replaced Sammi and did male vocals from joining in 2001, until he left in January 2021. Jukka (another one) took over drums and Troy joined when Marko left.
Anyways there are 10 Nightwish albums.

This was the first singer Tarja, this was the last concert they did with her in 2005, she was fired directly after this show. People will likely be bugging you now to check out the current singer, Floor Jansen (Js are said like Ys for them). How cute, but as an older I see that the youth missed a lot, the first time I saw nightwish 2000 in Wacken (yes, as a German simple) with Tarja Turunen at the time, and yes it was unbelievable, even a camera cannot capture the atmosphere. Also in 2008 with Anette Olzon (thank God you stay true to Wacken) was not really worse than with Tarja. And most recently in 2013 in Wacken with Floor Jansen, I am happy to have seen all 3 concerts live. I love Nightwish's music and only "for me" were Tarja Turunen and Floor Jansen who had impressed me the most. It's a shame that today's young people can't or don't want to experience that anymore. I absolute adore and love Floors version in Wacken. That performance is fantastic, no doubt, but of some reasons I have started to like this version more than Floors. The orchestral parts sounds more impressive and Tarjas voice is matching that so well. That ending with the orchestra in this version could go on for ever.....
Tarja's darker timbre also adds a more tragic, (almost) "Shakespearean" flair to it I think also.

How about checking out 'Phantom of the Opera' from this same End of an Era concert? I think you'll really like it and at least one more song with Tarja would definitely be a cool way to start your Nightwish discovery. ❤❤❤
There are plenty of beautiful songs of Nightwish with Tarja (also from her solo career). By Nightwish I recommend "Sleeping Sun" by this DVD, "Dead boy's poem", ''Walking in the Air'' and "Swanheart" by another DVD called "From Wishes to Eternety", and from her solo career I love "Until My last breath". Those are my recommendations, but i just hope you keep going on Tarja and Nightwish.

Agreed, but this performance is awesome as well and it is kind of refreshing to see it for a change. However I am sorry we did not get to enjoy the grand finale that Floor Jansen added....in return we got the awesome chanting of the choir pulled way to the front instead of far in the back.

I was hoping on Ghost Love Score liveversion Wacken 2013 with the amazing singer Floor Jansen ( most versitaly singer in the world and current singer of Nightwish). This is the old singer Tarja, also a fantastic singer, but Floor nailed this song in Wacken in front of 82000 fans. Nightwish is a very popular band. Next song Storytime, Wacken 2013, it was a legendary concert. And Ghost LoveScore with Floor as singer means at least 10000 views. Read the comment of Gabriel Barzac

@Piet, there are already 500 You Tubers reacting to the "Wacken" version. maybe you better off watching one of there video's. I think it's absolutely refreshing there is somebody reacting to the Tarja version and going back to the roots. To all the hyper obsessed "Floor fans" i would say just enjoy the video for what it is and stop moaning like a toddler.

Girl, you chose the right one. Tarja recorded this song and made it incredible, I don't know what the problem is in accepting that fact. People piss off asking for Wacken's version, but this one is much better for me, because it is complete, just like on the CD (orchestra, choir).

I agree. The song was meant to have the orchestra. They didn't pay for it just to have someone yell over it. What a waste.

Totally agree, this performance is the best. floor stans feel so insecure by the fact that Tarja is the original singer and cofounder in Nigthwish that they need to spread all nasty comments on tarja videos
@@laudatosiadastra1218 Life changing? Seriously? How does a song change your life? Did it make you rich? Did it buy you a house? Or, did you just find a new favorite singer? I’ve been to a lot of concerts, and this performance isn’t that epic. It looks cool with all of the lighting and the fan blowing her hair. The camera guy did an amazing job too. If this same performance was filmed in 2005 with the same stage production as Tarja’s, no one would care about it. It wouldn’t be anything special. In about five years when this video is outdated, something else will come along.

You are clearly impressed by Nightwish. You heard their first singer Tarja. Funny you said that you have been 'floored'. You now have to check out their current singer Floor Jansen. She takes nearly all of their (old) songs even to a higher level and this song in particular. Just watch the Wacken 2013 version and you will experience it and to think that she only was 10 months with Nightwish at the time. Our spokesperson of the Nightwish Army Gabriel Bardac will soon come by on the comment section and fill you in with the full history of the band. As I am a Flooraholic here is some background information on our Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen. She joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. My favourite song is 'Energize Me'. They made a very beautiful music video out of this. After Forever disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song, such as from full operatic to serious growls in seconds. The songs 'Disdain' and 'Wild Card' are good examples. September 2012 came the call from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the American Tour as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. The lyrics of the songs of Nightwish are very poetic and the music as a whole is challenging, but Floor pulled it off and she stayed for the whole world tour, culminating in the already mentioned iconic Wacken 2013 Open Air festival. There was a documentary ('Please Learn the Setlist in 48 Hours') made of their world tour and this transition of singers plays a big role. It was obvious that the combination Nightwish and Floor Jansen was made in Walhalla, so she became a permanent member of the band in 2013 as the relationship with Annette and the band was strained even before she became ill. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp' for a couple of years, but it became clear that she could combine the two for much longer, so Revamp disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived in the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died' is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on TH-cam. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid siuation, Floor discovered TH-cam in the last year and uploaded many interesting videos on her channel. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses and so much more. Her 'Fan Friday' videos are hilarious. She even made a video reacting to herself performing 'Ghost Love Score' at Wacken 2013. As Floor is a high sensitive person, peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band 'Sabaton'); daughter Freja (just turned 4 yaears last month); a horse and pony; a dog and 3 cats, she found this.
