    I am currently in my final year B.Tech in mechanical engineering from NIT Calicut. Let me give you guys my point of view. I joined mechanical engineering because I had an interest towards machines. But, it turns out that it is the math and problem solving skill are mostly required. When it comes to placements, Mechanical Engineering is a joke. All these companies mentioned in this video don’t come together. Even if they did, only 10-15% of the students will get in the core field. Others will get placed in IT sector or management sector. The chance of getting into the core field is very low.
    Right now I am studying programming etc. to get placed. So, all of my previous 4 year was a waste.
    Choose mechanical engineering if:
    1) You are passionate about machines and its working
    2) EXTREMELY good at math and problem solving
    3) Ready to learn (or forced to learn) boring stuffs as they are also included in the syllabus.
    4) Can maintain a high Cgpa overall (You might be class topper in 10th and 12th. But it has no meaning in college)
    Mechanical Engineering is a vast field. You might be only interested in some part of it like automobiles. But you have to learn all of the other stuffs too, which can be very tiring as you might not be interested in that thing.
    Also, there is a high chance that you might end up with no job since you have been preparing to get into a core company. Unfortunately you couldn’t get it. Neither you have any IT related skills to get into IT companies, since you have been studying ‘mechanical engineering’.
    I know it is kind of a discouraging thing. But it is the truth.

    • @NikhLogic
      @NikhLogic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +81

      1. Definitely 100% of the candidates can’t get placed in top companies. The supply of mechanical engineers is much higher than the demand.
      2. In terms of which companies come to your university depends on your universities skills to bring companies. I had almost 70% of the companies mentioned in this video during my campus placement, back in 2015.
      3. Engineering as a field is competitive. You need to be in top 5% to make it big in this field else you will be just wasting time. It works pretty much same in every field

      Sushant, I wouldn’t recommend aeronautical engineering, since it’s a niche field & the demand for jobs in this field isn’t much high in India.
      I would rather advise taking mechanical engineering & then specializing in aeronautic. It’s always better to go for a Broader field, because tomorrow if you want to switch your field, it’s easier to do.
      Eg, if you want to go for automobile or you want to go into oil & gas after your engineering, you can still do it as a mechanical engineer, but if you are doing aeronautical; it will be much difficult.
      So always choose a field that opens your door to multiple sectors and then do certifications on the field you want to specialize in

      Hahaha Akash, even I’m mechanical engineer. So in the core field, unfortunately the jobs aren’t high paying. Once you have maybe 10-15 years of work experience, then the job/ salary gets better. But at this stage you also have option to move to different field If you want to, such as consulting, investment banking etc. so I would suggest doing your research in which field you want to move to, and accordingly work towards that. I wanted to move towards e-commerce side, and I followed that. Similarly, you need to understand where do you want to go. Feel free to connect on linkedin for more advice :)

      Having said that, can you get internships in companies abroad but work from India? Absolutely yes!
      So I think you should change the approach to which company you want to get an internship in, than trying to understand which location. I doubt people regret as such, but when you compare chemical engineering jobs as compared to other field, it's lesser. It's a niche field. Right now with tech industry booming, you have more job opportunities there, hence it's easier to get a job in tech as compared to getting a job in core chemical field.

    "Engineers are mostly jobless." Is this statement true? Will engineering have scope in future?

    • @NikhLogic
      @NikhLogic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      To an extent yes, but what they don’t tell you is, these jobless engineers are those engineers who did engineering for time pass & have no idea what engineering is even after graduation.
      The issue is; most students in India end up taking engineering for graduation. The supply due to this issue has gone up drastically as compared to the demand of jobs.
      Having said that, every engineer I know who valued his education and showed interest has landed a good job with top MNC’s. So there is still a demand for good engineers.
      So if you are taking engineering just for sake of it, because everyone else is taking it, I wouldn’t advice it. You might end up being the part of “most engineers are jobless” but if you are taking engineering because you have interest in it & you want to learn this field and grow your career in this field, then I would def recommend taking it. There is still huge demand for good engineers who know the basics & who understands how the system operates. So you need to ensure you are practically better than the rest of your batch mates who come to do time pass & I can assure you, you will do amazing in your career.

    • @NikhLogic
      @NikhLogic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Sachin,
      1. EEE, It's absolutely a good field but the issue is, Electrical engineering has very low demand in India due to the nature of the jobs. It’s still a growing field in India & the overall demand for electrical engineers as compared to how many engineers are graduating every year is actually less. As an electrical engineer, you have very high scope in countries such as Canada & Australia where this is considered to be a skilled profession with high demand and less supply. I would highly recommend looking for these places and understand how can you shift their prob through Master. India isn’t best for electrical engineers, to be honest, & the growth scope is very limited. This is based on the placements & demand of jobs as per 2019 data in the core field. So if you are doing electrical engineering, plan your studies in such a way that you can do B.Tech in India and then go for masters in Germany, Australia, or Canada. These countries have a high demand for electrical engineers.
      2 & 3. ECE and CSE both are really good fields with huge job opportunities.
      4. In terms of college, I can't really help much there as I was targeting only IIT and NIT. I got into NIT K, and that's where I graduated from. So my aim was only those.
      5. Paramedical is a totally different field. If you are interested in the biomedical/ nursing/ medical industry, paramedical will help and its a lucrative field with a lot of opportunities outside India, but that's only if your interest lies there. Else you wouldn't enjoy it.
      If you have any further doubts, drop me a message on Instagram @nikhlogic. Will be happy to help :)

      In regards to EE, it's absolutely a good field but the issue is, Electrical engineering has very low demand in India due to the nature of the jobs. It’s still a growing field in India & the overall demand for electrical engineers as compared to how many engineers are graduating every year is actually less.
      As an electrical engineer you have very high scope in countries such as Canada & Australia where this is considered to be a skilled profession with high demand and less supply. But again, you are absolutely true, it all boils down to the skills you carry and how much technical knowledge you actually have in the core subject. So yes, the top 3% always get into top companies. It all depends on your hard work and love for their branch.

    Hello sir, I’m a Nepali student aspiring to pursue my Bachelors in Engineering in India.As i plan to be an entrepreneur, I want to study a less technical engineering course like industrial engineering, which branch of engineering, University and city would you suggest me?

    • @NikhLogic
      @NikhLogic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey Shalu, to be an entrepreneur you don’t need to pursue engineering. You need to know business side of running a company.
      Often times entrepreneur are not people with technical skills but with managerial skills. But if you insist on getting a Btech, I would recommend computer engineering, as it will help you understanding coding. Tom if you are starting a business or company, having an online presence is important and being a graduate in this field will help you in that way.
      Also, in terms of city, any metropolitan city is good like Bangalore, mumbai, Pune etc

    1. Bro, choosing mechanical engineering is better option ?
    2. In your opinion, do mechanical engineering has bright future?
    3.Is it true that most of the mechanical engineers are jobless?
    4.What is highest package of mechanical engineer ?
    5.Do you agree that due to AI, scope of Computer science engineering will be down?

    • @NikhLogic
      @NikhLogic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      1. Mechanical Engineering in all honestly, is losing value. Number of mech eng graduating every year in India is much higher than the number of jobs.
      2. Yes it does have a bright future, but again the jobs vs graduates are not equal.
      3. It's not only mech eng who don't find jobs. Every dept will have similar stories, but the jobs which mech eng might be getting might be lesser paid as compared to other streams.
      4. During my graduation, we had CTC of 11 LPA as the highest package.
      5. No, I believe with the startup industry & AI growing, studying with coding knowledge & electronics knowledge will have more demand in future. Again, this is a personal opinion.

    • @NikhLogic
      @NikhLogic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello, I wouldn’t recommend aerospace engineering, since it’s a niche field & the demand for jobs in this field isn’t much high paying in India.
      I would rather advice taking mechanical engineering & then specializing in aerospace engineering field. It’s always better to go for a Broader field, because tomorrow if you want to switch your field, it’s easier to do.
      Eg , if you want to go for automobile or you want to go into oil & gas after your engineering, you can still do as a mechanical engineer, but if you are are doing aerospace engineering; it will be much difficult.
      So always choose a field which opens your door to multiple sectors and then do certifications on the field you want to specialize in that field. Also, if you do have the budget, do mechanical engineering in india, and plan for masters abroad in countries such as US, Germany, Australia etc that have high scope for Aerospace Engineering.

If you are not planing of pursuing engineering post your college, then avoid it as you will just be wasting your time.

      Every field will have competition. There are so many engineers who graduate every year. So don't be worried about competition. There are jobs as well in every field, but the jobs are taken by students who are actually good in their field.
      Hence if you have an interest in Civil Engineering, I would highly recommend you to take that as you will be able to perform good in that field, but I would also recommend before confirming on 1 field, you do your research about other fields as well. Rather choose a field where you find interest. In your case, I would recommend taking electronics & communication. It does have practical knowledge required & will have basics of coding. This won’t take you into software field but it will still allow you to be open to this sector.

      First, you need to understand if you have an interest in computers or ECE because if you don't, you will struggle during 4 years of engineering. Because this field has demand in jobs, it's very competitive now and hence you have to be in the top best candidates.
      I would recommend trying to learn python or R after your exams. Try it for 2-3 weeks. If you do have an interest learning them, then look at taking these field. If you don't find it interesting, please don't take this field as you will struggle due to lack of interest.
      Look for alternative fields like law, CA etc. In today's date, there is scope everywhere. Don't jump into something because everyone around you is doing the same.

      So Namratha, Agriculture field in India is a growing field & considering not many people go into this particular section, I believe it’s still a high potential untapped engineering sector.
      But again, since it’s at a growth stage, you will have to struggle a bit during initial career days because the demand also is not very high right now. So be mentally prepared for that. But I’m positive, at the rate Indian agriculture sector is growing, this field is going to highly competitive in upcoming years. Also, a downside in agricultural field is that the pay won't be very high for quite some time since agriculture in general is not a high profit margin field. So do understand these risks when you take this field.

So I would suggest you is learn how to manage time, take part in college activities get to know people you wouldn't be depressed like After my 5th sem pandemic happened and till now I've been at home so basically I went to college for 2 years out of 5. So make sure you know how to swim before jumping out into the ocean.

      Hello Manan, it’s so great to see you focussed so well with your career at a young age. I’m really happy for you.
      Since your area of interest lies in coding, I would recommend taking computer science in engineering.
      In regards to JEE, I started preparing when I was in 11th, and I was an avg student. I would recommend spending the time from now till 11th in understanding more software languages such as python, R etc. Learn how to build websites. Try improving your skills in multiple fields related to computer science as this will help you stand better and more advanced as compared to other students during your college.
      There are tons of free videos on TH-cam or Udemy that you can refer to and learn from them. Once in 11th, start focusing on JEE, so that you can either get into NIT or IIT as they have low fees and much better placements than avg college. I got into NIT.

      You can start learning basic skills on TH-cam itself. You can also refer to Udemy. Udemy offers quite a lot of courses at very reasonable prices.

      Mechanical engineering is a broad field, that covers automobile/ machinery/ Aerospace etc. Automobile engineering on the other hand is a niche field.
      Similarly, computer engineering is a broad field, that covers software, hardware etc. Software engineering on the other hand is a niche field.

      Both computer science & ECE are equally good. Both allow you to easily enter the tech industry easily. You need to understand what are you better at - eg Are you really good at software & coding? If yes, go for computer science engineering.
      If your coding skills aren't great go for ECE as that's more on hardware, but you will still have coding lectures.

      Hello Keshav, sorry for the late reply.
      It's absolutely a good field but the issue is, Electrical engineering has very low demand in India due to the nature of the jobs. It’s still a growing field in India & the overall demand for electrical engineers as compared to how many engineers are graduating every year is actually less. The intent was never to discourage anyones motivation in that field.
      As an electrical engineer you have very high scope in countries such as Canada & Australia where this is considered to be a skilled profession with high demand and less supply.
      I would highly recommend looking for these places and understand how can you shift there prob through Masters. India isn’t best for electrical engineers to be honest & growth scope is very limited. This is based on the placements & demand of jobs as per 2019 data in core fielding and based on my knowledge working in the industry past 6 years. So if you are doing electrical engineering, plan your studies in such a way that you can do B.Tech in India and then go for masters in Germany, Australia or Canada. These countries have high demand for electrical engineers.
      Also, if you are good in any field, you can always make it big. What i'm sharing is from a generic overview. If you have any further doubts, drop me a message on Instagram @nikhlogic. Will be happy to help :)

      @NikhLogic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello brother,
      If your interest is in Computer related parts, then you need to choose either computer engineering or electronics & communication engineering. Computer Engineering does more software-related work; such as code development. On the other hand, Electronic Engineering does more hardware-related work; such as working on a computer modern board, circuits, wiring, and alike.
      So you need to understand which is the field that you want to enroll in. Both fields are quite similar to each other to an extent, but computer engineering will have more to do with coding in general.
      Both the field offer very lucrative salary packages. So don't worry about the salary, but try to understand which interests you more and choose a field according to that. It's important that you enjoy what you are doing because only then you will be able to grow in your career.

      Hello Veerendra, I wouldn’t recommend aerospace or aeronautical engineering, since it’s a niche field & the demand for jobs in this field isn’t much high in India.
      I would rather advice taking mechanical engineering & then specializing in the field you want to. It’s always better to go for a Broader field, because tomorrow if you want to switch your field, it’s easier to do.
      Eg , if you want to go for automobile or you want to go into oil & gas after your engineering, you can still do as a mechanical engineer, but if you are are doing aerospace; it will be much difficult.
      So always choose a field which opens your door to multiple sectors and then do certifications on the field you want to specialize in

      Hey bro,
      1. Civil engineering is a good field If you do have a passion for it
      2. In my opinion, if you don’t have a passion for it, and looking from a career aspect, I think you should go for computer science (ensure you do have a liking towards coding, else you will suffer)
      3. Demand vs supply for civil engineers isn’t proportional. Considering it’s a easier field as compared to others, it’s true that there are more civil engineering students across India than the amount of jobs there.
      4. When I was studying in NIT, the packages varied between 3 Lakh to 7 lakh per annum. So if you are someone from an IIT, packages can vary upto 10 Lakh per annum

      Hello I did my graduation from civil engineering branch in year 2021 only . I just want to express what I gone through. So basically I did my enginnering from 8th best College in my State (Telangana) it has become a university now (Anurag University) upto first and second year everything is fine you will enjoy your subject's but when you are in 3rd year all of your CS And IT branch Friends are getting jobs in 3rd year itself and but you take it light about their placements first.. then remaining branches (ECE,EEE) like also trying to get jobs in IT sector. And now in 4th year all of them are placing in one or other company but you as a civil student your heart will not allow you to go into that field (IT sector). But civil companies won't hire students like so called mass hire. For example if a civil company came to hire students if the eligible civil students are 100 means they will take 3to 5 students maximum and that too they will give less package than IT sector. The salary for fresher in IT sector is 3.36Lpa To 3.6LPA also the salary hike is very big with 2yrs of experience you may get 6LPA Package but for civil that salary is very less it is around 2.4Lpa to 2.6Lpa and the working culture is also little bit tougher you should keep this in mind because after graduation you will get site engineer jobs only mostly ....
      And Finally After graduation many of my friends are working in TCS (15Members with 3.36Lpa ), in Accenture (5Members with 4Lpa) etc...
      If you want stop studying after btech then choose COMPUTER SCIENCE ENGINEERING and also if you want to go US CSE will have best scope but for CIVIL ENGINEERING btech is not sufficient you should do Mtech from Premiere to get institute's to get into Premiere institutes you should write GATE exam for that also also you should prepare sincerely....
      Any way all the best Choose wisely

      Depends Gokulan. Courses such as Mining, Aeronautical, marine etc are very niche field. Often times students after finishing 12th aren’t sure what they want to pursue their career in.
      When you choose a niche field, your scope of getting a job after bachelors and your scope of changing your field gets limited. Hence it’s always advisable to choose a broad field and then narrow it down to the field you want to work in. It increases your scope this way.

    • @NikhLogic
      @NikhLogic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Alan, it’s totally normal to be confused, and everyone goes through that stage.
      In terms of civil engineering, yes it has less scope as compared to other fields, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a good field.
      If you aren’t interested in computer/ electronics please don’t take it. There is a huge competition in this field now, and only top 5%-10% will make it into good companies. Rest won’t have any value.
      Hence I would suggest looking into mechanical or civil. You need to understand where do you see yourself in near future, which country would you like to work in, are you planning of doing masters etc.
      Do you see yourself as an automobile engineer or maybe work in oil & gas sector in Middle East or do you see yourself as a civil officer in a construction based businesses. These questions will help you understand what’s the best for you.
      You should be happy that you are clear in terms of where your interest doesn’t lie, as that’s the hard choice. People often jump into something because everyone is taking it , and then they struggle in it.

      I would highly recommend looking for these places and understand how can you shift there prob through Masters. India isn’t best for electrical engineers to be honest & growth scope is very limited. This is based on the placements & demand of jobs as per 2019 data in core field. So if you are doing electrical engineering, plan your studies in such a way that you can do B.Tech in India and then go for masters in Germany, Australia or Canada. These countries have high demand for electrical engineers. If you have passion towards that field, then I think you should take Electrical Engineering as you will only be able to do good if you have a passion for it. If your reason to do is to be different than the herd, then I don't think that's the best idea.
      So hope this helps :)

      Hello Kandu, if your interest is in mechanical engineering, you don't need software skills like C++ etc, but you need to have a good understanding of software like AutoCAD etc. So focus on software which are required by mechanical engineers.

    • @NikhLogic
      @NikhLogic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Hello Dharshini, I wouldn’t recommend specializing in Artificial Intelligence during your Tech, since it’s a niche field.
      I would rather advice taking computer engineering & then specializing in artificial intelligence depending on your interest. It’s always better to go for a Broader field, because tomorrow if you want to switch your field, it’s easier to do.
      Eg , if you want to go for software or you want to go into blockchain developer or want to work as a Data Scientist, after your engineering, you can still do as a computer engineer, but if you are are doing a niche engineering field; it will be much difficult.
      So always choose a field which opens your door to multiple sectors and then do certifications on the field you want to specialize in that field.

      Hello Reena, yes both computer engineering & IT engineering have similar scope in India, but it makes a big difference if you are planning to go abroad. Most countries don't recognize IT, but they value computer engineering. Hence if you are planning of spending your time & money, I would highly recommend doing Computer Engineering as it opens your doors to multiple sectors in different countries!

    Should I change my branch into electrical engineering...
    Am i right to choose ECE???

      Hello brother,
      ECE is absolutely a great field to work in. It's the field which holds a lot of demand in todays date due to the evolution of the tech industry. But if your interest lies in Electrical Engineering, then you should def take it. Before you jump into electrical engineering, there are few things which I would want you to understand.
      Electrical engineering has very low demand in India due to the nature of the jobs. It’s still a growing field in India & the overall demand for electrical engineers as compared to how many engineers are graduating every year is actually less.

      No, please don't do B-tech after Diploma. You will just be repeating the courses. Rather do masters in what you want to pursue your career in, if your intent is to work in the core field.
