The Missy Elliot clue was really sweet and they didn't get it. It was because "Missy Elliot" to Karl sounds like "miss you, Elliot", so E.T.'s problem was that he misses Elliot :')

I love these shows, I listen all the time and like so many others in the comments section I have done for over a decade...
But as I get older and further away from the era these were recorded I feel a certain melancholy and sadness that such a fun time in my life has gone..
Since these were recorded life has got noticeably worse with the rise of things like social media, and these were just much simpler times for everyone.. especially me just fresh out of school and finding my way in the world!

Reading a of comments that mention they play this while they sleep. Anyone ever found these drip feeding into their dreams? Last night I was listening to the old podcasts as I fell asleep and my dream involved sitting on a long haul flight with Karl as the captain giving Rock Buster clues over the tannoy while an infuriated Stephen Merchant was sat next to me trying to guess the clues.

I don't think there's a show I haven't fallen asleep to.
I don't think they really get to the crux of why it's called "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". It's because it refers to the mental institution being a 'cuckoo's nest', as in mental people being "cuckoo", and the 'nest' being where they live, and the one flying over it referring to the chief escaping.
cuckoos dont have nests they lay an egg in another birds nest aand let them bring the chick up...usually a reed warbler.
That's probably part of the reason behind it, but it is really from a nursery rhyme/poem.

Karl would LOVE Max Mon Amour. I don't think Ricky or Steve have seen it. It's high concept in terms of it being a deadpan social commentary, but it's a comedy about a little chimp fella. I hope he's seen it.

I'm still a massive fan of these old shows but I definitely would not like to see the old band get back together, it wouldn't be anywhere near as good. Karl is much more worldly than he was back in the Xfm days.
