I love the Turf Tiger 2 i run one daily but HATE the Bagging System. Scag needs to not block half the deck off for the bagger. It Clogs BAD. Exmark makes a better bagger system
Brian's Lawn Maintenance I like how they have spindles that you can grease and tapered bearings. Never been a fan of sealed bearings. I like to be able to grease things.
This mower is unbelievably engineered, well built and carefully planned. The deck’s performance is real. Agree, get most power to avoid bogging, improve performance in tall wet grass. This video ALONE helped me understand SCAG’s philosophy (and curb weight) and pricing - no one does that. Driveshaft is just an unparalleled feature - low center gravity tanks. Looked at many ZT mowers, this one stands out. I’m in NE GA. Where is a large dealer who can show me the lineup? Rich did phenom job explaining the product. Comments helped too. Thanks Brian for great video 👍
I bought a Scag Turf Tiger in June 2001!!! We are still mowing with it. We mow over 6 acres in a rural area. In fact, last year we replaced the main drive belt for the first time. We are now looking at the new one...mainly for the ride. Thinking we will stay with the Turf Tiger II. I KNOW we will stay with Scag! The maintenance records are amazing. Hardly anything spent on maintenance! One more thing, it is made in AMERICA!!
I own a Scag 60 inch that is a 95 model that is 23 years old and it has never had a spindle bearing changed. Grand kids still mow 2 yards with it I bought a new Truf Tiger couple of years ago. Those things are tuff. I live on a farm mowers do not live a easy life. Never anything but Scag.
@@ScagPowerEquipmentthey are the best on the planet. Hands down. We would get 4 more turf tiger 2 for Manitoulin island. If we could. And video everything for scag.
I have this very same Turf Tiger II in the garage right now, 2017 model.. 60" Briggs Vanguard EFI 37hp engine.. This thing is the absolute Cadillac of zero turns, a pure BEAST of a machine. I use it on my properties with acreage, knocks the work down tremendously and the stripes are amazing!!
I run a SCAG Turf Tiger 🐅 2, for work & its tougher than a $2 Steak!! I love the dependability of this machine!! Thanks Rich & Brian for a super informative Vlog!! #teamscag🐯
Brian thanks for the video. So I knew I was going to buy a scag, but I was deciding between the turf tiger and the cheetah. After a lot of research, I bought the turf tiger and I am so happy I did. Yes, it is a few thousands more but worth every penny. I used it this week and it was everything I dreamed of. I went through high grass at top speed with no problems or stringers. Then I mulched up piles of wet high leaves from last year with no problem. I cut my cutting time down almost in half from my old bobcat. My back felt great with the scag seat. I felt like I was in a Cadillac. It has the 31hp Kawasaki motor and it was great. I have been cutting for about 37 years and I don't work or affiliated with the scag company. If you want your dream machine buy the turf tiger. Thanks for your videos.
I'm a homeowner with 10 acres of land I had demoed this exact same unit from Rich last week I demoed Ferris IS3200 two weeks prior and I prefer the ferris over the Turf Tiger. They cut grass almost the same but the ferris has more comfort due to suspension. Thanks Rich and thanks Brian
GREAT video!!! I run an eXmark now but my dealer, Westover Power Lawn Equipment; Americus, Ga. sells SCAG, Hustler and eXmark. I LIKE this kind of video that goes over the features that other manufacturers DO NOT have on their equipment where in this case SCAG does. As my parents always would say; "Live and LEARN"!
I have the original turf tiger and it’s the best investment I’ve ever made. However, I often find myself coming across gates that the mower will not fit through so another smaller stand on might be needed. (If you have those kind of yards) This mower does some of the best striping I’ve seen and has the power to cut through anything. Can only imagine the new innovations of the Turf Tiger 2
I own 2 Turf Tigers. 1 With a 27 HP Kohler with the older 61" Advantage Deck. The other one has the 28HP Caterpillar Diesel Engine on it with the 61" Velocity Deck . I love the Power and Torque I get out of that thing. Friend borrowed it recently and cut a 5 acre field of 2-5 foot grass with no problem. I love both mowers. I searched forever for the Older Sabre Tooth Tiger with the 31HP Turbo Diesel, but could never find one, let alone one in a 61".
Hey Brian my dad and I have been mowing with Toro Z master mowers since the early 2000s. I just bought my first Scag Turf Tiger 2 and I have to say I’m liking it. My current Toro has well over 4000 hours of hard use so fingers crossed for the scag. It has big shoes to fill.
I bought a new 2000 turf tiger with a water-cooled 27hp Kawasaki. The only thing I've done to it is to replace the blades, change fluid and filters, and buy 1 battery. I've also put tubes in the tubless tires over the years, but tread is still like new. I'm only a homeowner with 3-acre lawn I mow twice a week. This is it's 19th season, I hope it runs as well and trouble free the next 19. I would buy a Scag again without hesitation.
Great video. Rich, you are very knowledgeable about the SCAG machines. I worked there for nearly 18 yrs and think they are great machines. So great in fact, that I purchased a Liberty 3 yrs ago to mow my own lawn (wish I would have gone with the Patriot for the more comfortable seat). Everyone that made the diesel Turf Tiger always wished that they would stop manufacturing them. So much more of a hassle to assemble. Only make a few a year, most people would need to assemble a couple to get back into the grove of it again. Wouldn't doubt that the company nearly looses money on every unit, for as long as it takes to make. They stink so bad during testing also. Ventilation isn't adequate for them. All of assembly dept. could smell them running.
What impresses me about Scag is the engineering. I mean, you can tell they told the engineering team: go and ride competitor's mowers, then build ours better. Little things like the controls on the discharge side, the anti-scalp brackets, the one piece belt pulley, the automotive-style brakes, etc. All things that have been engineered to a fine degree. The Ferris was a beast, but to me, the Scag seems like the more well-thought-out unit. Plus, the Velocity deck is a dream. Give me one with the EFI Kawasaki, and I'm sold!
Scag makes great machines. But in all reality there’s a lot of great mowers that are very similar. Dealer support to me is the most important between choosing between good companies like scag and exmark. But you can’t go wrong with lots of these companies as long as you take care of your equipment.
Next years upgrade will to get a 72" SCAG and then convert my 60 to the SCAG 61 and for next year I'll keep the little 22HP Hustler I modified to cut so much better. I am a side discharge very technical lawn stripper and i heard these throw the grass and dispenses it really well. Been doing it, longer then you been... anyways I have fallen in LOVE with SCAG and their half inch decks and that seat and foot deck is amazing. I'm sold.
Scag is very on top of things when it comes to their mowers and convenience for the operator. They are expensive, but now i see why and how much its worth it.
This guy is a great rep for Scag. Very knowledgeable and sensible. Maybe you could have him on for more reviews as a few people below commented. Maybe compare and contrast the different lines/ grades of mowers for us home owners. I had a basic Scag 48' walk behind for year and recently sold it when I moved to a house with a larger yard. I picked up an Exmark 60" pioneer. the jury is still out as I haven't gotten to use it much, but that blow out you mentioned in another video is a real pain. I'm looking fwd to see how much you get with the scag decks. I didn't have that big on an issue on my old walk behind, but I was cutting slower too. Exmark seems like it's a gas guzzler too. A simple fuel gauge in it (Exmark) would be nice addition. Thanks for the reviews/ demos. I enjoy them. It's hard for a homeowner to get the kind of attention you can with a channel and business. Take care.
Nice video Brian, Scag is nice but I have a preference for Toro, you want to you should demo Toro Z master Mride suspension zero turn mower 60 " kohler engine. You will fall in love with this mower because I did!
Dale Nienow. I love those I have a woods diesel 60 that's awesome for being almost 15 years old and then there is the ransoms bobcat mowers 2 speed standers and zeros that are awesome too speacially if you do a bunch of lots together on the same street get done with one switch to street gear make it down the road in half the time to the next yard
The TT2 with the Vanguard EFI is the best 61” commercial mower on the market today. Close second would be the Lazer Z x-series. Scags are just built a little better!
I do a lot of work on foreclosures. I have to take pics of everything... this feature would be nice. A 12 volt outlet is nice though. I can plug in a tire inflator w/o limping the mower back to the truck for an in-field plug job
Had one for demo last week. Unfortunately it rained every day, so I didn't really get a true feel for it. However I do love the deck. No clumps. I currently run Ferris, but looking to change for next season. The ride is much better than I expected. Have nothing bad to say about it.
Hey Brian awesome vlog! I'm hoping in time to purchase a turf tiger for my own future lawncare business. So I'm definitely am looking forward to your vlogs on this particular machine. Love all your other vlogs as well by the way.
Thanks Rich, Thanks Brian, I'm curious about this machine, I may test ride one myself. Looking forward to your findings. It's either Scag or Kubota for me in Oklahoma.
Norman Clevenger II dude that’s like 90% of the videos where i see someone saying why they are leaving Scag is because dealer support. I’m just like damn man that means your dealer sucks not the company.
I love my scag , I have the Kaw 29 efi with 61" deck. I put the munching system ( eliminator blades & munching plates, discharge plate ) on my deck , love it cause it feeds the grass and in the fall the leaves get cut right up to nothing. They are costly but you'll never need another mower. I have only had the battery , and a relay go bad in 6 years. My scag cuts grass like a carpet look.
I bought a new TT2 with the 37 horse vanguard in April 2019. What a mower! I only have half an acre of grass to cut and it’s a total animal. Go big of go home!
I’d like to see you demo a spartan. I just bought one since I didn’t see anyone with them thought I’d be different and not go with toro like everyone else around here has on their crews. Scag and exmark too. That’s all I see anyone using.
Could you do a side by side comparison with the exmark and the scag... like cut 1/2 a lawn with the scag and 1/2 with the exmark. If you get a chance that would be cool👍 Btw thanks Rich!
Exmark makes a really good cost effective mower. IMO they arnt as easy to fix when they go down as a scag, but if you do maintenance you wont have many issues.
I’ve never ran a scag but have always heard good things about their cut quality. The school district I work for runs grasshoppers and they are some of the best mowers I’ve ever used and they are very popular here in Toledo. If you ever get the chance to try one, try it.
Wow , I’m liking that Vangaurd !! More torque than a diesel !! I prefer using gas at least for turf equipment. Diesel truck is another story. But diesel is really messy , stinky , dirty etc. a pickup truck is doable , but with equipment , your using gas cans and spilling and stuff like that. Diesel gets slippery , won’t evaporate , collects dirt and just is a pain in the ars. That Vangaurd is intriguing !!
I have a Ferris 3200z and love it. This thing looks really nice. I’ll be excited to see how you like it. I wish it had some suspension for the comfort of the user. I know the chair has some give to it. But the suspension on the Ferris saves my back. Maybe some food for thought.
I'm shocked they didn't say anything in the video, then again I never can sit & listen to a review all the way to the end. The Scag does have a suspension seat & is VERY nice compared to the scag's that have just the solid frame & foam cushion. Thought about trying to get the dealer to let me demo the Ferris 3300 61". DOES THE FERRIS HAVE THE 4 CORNER SHOCK SYSTEM & A SUSPENSION SEAT?
@@David-fk6yg yes David they have an optional suspension air seat along with the 4 way suspension. Seems almost like a over kill if you ask me. I’m fine with one or another.
@@AaronCMorris I'd say the same unless your cutting rough fields all day long. Then I would think with BOTH the suspension seat & the shock/struts would be nice. ONLY thing I'm wondering now is; How would the deck not move when that front or rear corner go's in a dip? I have a Scag 61" Velocity deck & been thinking about going to Ferris, JD, or IDK. Scag is just so expensive. The competitors mowers that are out now, look to me like they have gotten a LOT better & really close to the same cut that the Scag Velocity deck gives. Any thoughts on other mowers? Say like Hustler 61" OR maybe even the 108" rear discharge batwing deck?????????😎
@@David-fk6yg I love the iCD deck on the Ferris. The spindles are bullet proof. I have about 1200 hr on mine now. And the only major thing I had to change was the fuel filter. For a while the decks were snaping belts from the torque when starting the blades. I have the 36hp vanguard. I would do that with the new oil guard system. Only have to change oil every 500 hrs. Or once a year.
I was taught that Scag is the cadillac of the industry.Where i am out we run Grasshopper which is one tough machine. The Briggs Vangaurd is the best engine out there.
Comparing a grasshopper to a scag is tough. If i had to pick one for personal use a diesel grasshopper would be my first choice. For making money the turf tiger is king.
I just order one of those mower from my dealer, I hope it is good mower. Plus hopefully it’s a smooth ride. I’ve got approximately 16, acres to cut. But now I’ve been told they can’t get the motors they need.
Would love to try a Turfy but there aren't any Scag dealers near me sadly.... I think my uncle who used to be a contractor might have a Scag and a Walker though. Looks like a tank of a machine!
Beautiful machine, but most of the heavy hitters in your industry have some bloody awesome machines. Sounds like it's built like a tank. Gotta believe the dealer should come first, though. Up here near Richmond we have Ball Equipment and Zimmer's S&S, Zimmer's S&S is my choice. Incredible dealership for Exmark, Stihl and Redmax. Just dropped a K there on Saturday for a bunch of Kombi gear.
Brian I got to use one of these for a day one time .. biggest problem I had was how far away the brake pedal and mower deck height were from the seat unless you moved the seat way up. Let me know what you think. I like the mower a lot overall but wished you could have moved the petals up further.
I have been wanting to demo the v-ride and this one but the dealer near me in Holt MI won’t let me demo them except one one customer and they drop it off and wait, but let a bigger company come in and demo, they took it out for a day definitely want to demo before spending 9k
Nobody runs a mower harder than me and I wouldn't use anything other than a Ferris is3200z with full suspension! I mow 3 large estates that are old hay fields turned into " lawns " and they are ruff and tuff! After running full bore 12 mph for 5 or 6 hrs straight on terrible turf I get off my machines fresh as a daisy. And I have had back surgery that forced me to retire from my regular job! Until the competition catches up with full suspension I won't run anything else but a Ferris!
Not sure if the SCAG has a suspension. They didn’t say in this video. The Ferris has an awesome ride and that’s gotta translate into an even cut. I won’t buy anything without dealer support.
They’re good mowers, if taken care of properly. The people who cut grass on mowers with us will hit anything in the way, cut anything in the way, won’t properly grease the equipment. We’ve replaced 4 61” decks in 2 years. We have 3 turf tigers 2’s.
Brian's Lawn Maintenance hahah thought so cause our shop is at P Trail and old plank rd. Since our accounts we cut are in Farmington and Farmington hills, we pass your account everyday to hop on 96 and take it to G river and Halsted exit lol
And I assume you go to weingartz for all your lawn and snow needs. I fricken love weingartz Brian lmao that place is awesome. We're aprart of that zero down time program so as you know, just mentioning how cool that program is. But anytime we have to take in one of our lazer z s series mowers, they give us an equal mower to use until our mowers fixed and ready to be picked up ya know, did you join that?
Is there any reason for the guys who want a 72" TT2 that Scag's collection systems won't work? Is the discharge side of the velocity different from the 61 or 52? Anyone can can weigh in on this I appreciate it!
Alright guys what do you think about the Turf Tiger 2? Are you guys ready to see some stripe action? Stay tuned!
Brian's Lawn Maintenance that is a great mower I can see lots of different changes from my 2008. Like those chrome rims

I love my scag , I have the Kaw 29 efi with 61" deck. I put the munching system ( eliminator blades & munching plates, discharge plate ) on my deck , love it cause it feeds the grass and in the fall
the leaves get cut right up to nothing.
They are costly but you'll never need another mower. I have only had the battery , and a relay go bad in 6 years.
My scag cuts grass like a carpet look.
WOW! going to take a look at this machine at the 2018 GIE!! Thank you
Very nice detail video.
Thanks for sharing
I recently saw Skag and Kubota at a Sportsman’s show and was way more impressed with the Kubota. I’m even more impressed with Walker.
I bought a new TT2 with the 37 horse vanguard in April 2019. What a mower! I only have half an acre of grass to cut and it’s a total animal. Go big of go home!
Thanks Rich for the great demo.
The beast of mowers is here
Thanks Team Scag and Brian!
I’m awaiting for the Ferris Z2 demo!
Max Bewsey it’s coming!
My dad has a landscape, hardscape business and we own 4 Exmark mowers and 2 scags but for some reason I always liked scag more
Best mower ever! Hands down🙌🏿
The Scag Turf Tiger in the Hustler super Z are both tanks and really good mowers
Good information love the videos send all the information keep sending the videos good advice
Nice mower, keep up the good work guys.
I love my SCAGS as well as my guys so much I bought them all matching Kujo Yard Shoes and made sure I used that Brians10 😉
Excellent machine hope you enjoy it
I’d like to see you demo a spartan. I just bought one since I didn’t see anyone with them thought I’d be different and not go with toro like everyone else around here has on their crews. Scag and exmark too. That’s all I see anyone using.
Kenbo toro has a hot one out but no one beats scag and kubota or exmark
Could you do a side by side comparison with the exmark and the scag... like cut 1/2 a lawn with the scag and 1/2 with the exmark. If you get a chance that would be cool👍
Btw thanks Rich!
SchopScape Lawn Care We will be!
Jim Younger Great points!
Brian's Lawn Maintenance Can You Please Demo The Walker T25I With a 62 Inch Deck?
just got one of these, seems like a beast. ive always ran toro.. we shall see how she performs this spring
I keep looking at that red Ford truck. Good looking truck.
Awesome vid I would love this guy to do this overview on a liberty Z that I have keep up the great work love your channel
I have a Ferris 3200z and love it. This thing looks really nice. I’ll be excited to see how you like it. I wish it had some suspension for the comfort of the user. I know the chair has some give to it. But the suspension on the Ferris saves my back. Maybe some food for thought.
colemorris69 I'm leaning Ferris because of my back. The factory is in my home county so I know parts will be available.
Robt John Zimmers is great. My dealer also. Got a new 60 from there this year
I gotta recommend it. They're tuff! I know that. :)
Me to bro
Brian I got to use one of these for a day one time .. biggest problem I had was how far away the brake pedal and mower deck height were from the seat unless you moved the seat way up. Let me know what you think. I like the mower a lot overall but wished you could have moved the petals up further.
We appreciate the feedback Zachary.
The brake lever is in an awkward position for sure, using it today.
Got to love bead locks on a lawn mower
Awesome brother keep up the awesome work
Good stuff. Man rich has that swagggg... GEEZE o" PETE ha.
Lol. Rich is the man!
I love my Turf Tiger 2.
Ya know what!
That was a great review!
I'm definitely gonna go to GIE next year!!
I have been wanting to demo the v-ride and this one but the dealer near me in Holt MI won’t let me demo them except one one customer and they drop it off and wait, but let a bigger company come in and demo, they took it out for a day definitely want to demo before spending 9k
Every dealer is different. Contact Scag themselves perhaps they can line something up through your distributor.
You should Demo a Scag Tiger Cat 2, they’re great machines!
Just bought three of these for our fleet.
That 1-6 is pretty impressive
Nice job 👍🏻
Gotcha Gotcha Gotcha OK OK OK lol LOVE THE VIDEOS BROTHER!!!
They’re good mowers, if taken care of properly. The people who cut grass on mowers with us will hit anything in the way, cut anything in the way, won’t properly grease the equipment. We’ve replaced 4 61” decks in 2 years. We have 3 turf tigers 2’s.
Lol No way i just noticed your at 96 and Wixom rd! Noticed the Menards the aldis in the back ground and Sunoco next door hahah
Yup lol
Brian's Lawn Maintenance hahah thought so cause our shop is at P Trail and old plank rd. Since our accounts we cut are in Farmington and Farmington hills, we pass your account everyday to hop on 96 and take it to G river and Halsted exit lol
And I assume you go to weingartz for all your lawn and snow needs. I fricken love weingartz Brian lmao that place is awesome. We're aprart of that zero down time program so as you
know, just mentioning how cool that program is. But anytime we have to take in one of our lazer z s series mowers, they give us an equal mower to use until our mowers fixed and ready to be picked up ya know, did you join that?
Thanks Rich.
Is there any reason for the guys who want a 72" TT2 that Scag's collection systems won't work? Is the discharge side of the velocity different from the 61 or 52? Anyone can can weigh in on this I appreciate it!
I have the 31 hp 61 inch. The only 2 things that drive me crazy is the oil drain placement and you have to spend an hour to clean the deck.
Great video! love your shirt choice :)
😇
Feed the machines!!!
You know it! Great combo Scag and SureCan!
Can you show the driveshaft setup on the next scag video. I didn’t know that they had that.
Sure
Thanks Rich!!
