    Really was looking for canada west leather boot recommendations as I picked up a few more pairs of the same boots I wear everyday in the worry my cobbler might go under during the extended pandemic. I treat all my boots as I did my combies, I was just looking to see if there was another way to go with the new ones aside from mink oil and boot black. I'm considering a hiking boot coating of some 'ott but I can't say I'm not well hesitant to take any of my sisters boot recommendations. 😳

    Will this technique work on the Dainese super rider d-dry mesh/leather jacket?
    I have no idea how to clean this thing and I can't seem to find instructions in the encyclopedia of manuals it comes with..

    Question: my rukka jacket has a gore tex inner jacket and separate fabric outer jacket. Can I wash the inner gore tex jacket in the same way? And also use the second product as well?

    Don't put the parts in the sun when drying, especially not leather.
    Just put it in the shade.

    I heard you should never use regular detergent. You need a dedicated product like NW Tech wash.

    Gotcha, appreciate it. The lifetime warranty advertised product needs continued water repellency. :). As long as they honor the warranty, I say save your money. The washing and other tips were great.

    I'm terrified of the nice printed 'R' on the back of my Rukka coming off when cleaning it. It's happened before even though I followed the instructions, thankfully Rukka replaced it when it went back for a faulty zip. It's now due to be cleaned again..I'm nervous.

    Do you need to reapply a dwr coating to gloves or boots after washing them?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you find water soaking in more easily after washing, then yes, you'll want to reapply a DWR like those from Nikwax. -DrewZilla

      I just put some nikwax on my revitt wp leather gloves that have been getting a bit wet the last few times I've ridden in the rain. I've had the gloves for 6 years or so. First time trying repellent on them. Will report back with the results.

    Hi!
    What happens to GORE-TEX when you wash it with softener?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Using softener can damage the Gore material itself, causing it to lose its waterproof and breathable capabilities. But we are not the scientists unfortunately, so we just trust and recommend adhering to exactly what the manufacture (Gore in this case) recommends inside the garments. - Pat

      @sunnyboner676 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A fabric softener chemically coats fibres of a textile and assists in raising the frayed fibres of the cloth stand up so it feels softer. The fraying of the fabric is due to the mechanical stress on the textile from the washing machine. The very same chemicals used to coat the fibres will clog the Gore-Tex pores and reduce it’s functionality. Hope that helps.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Spurgeon is referring to the outer textile taking on water more quickly over time. The Gore-Tex membrane behind the outer textile still stops water from getting to your body, but the DWR coating on the outer textile helps keep water from soaking into the outer fabric. -DrewZilla

    • @CanonMatters2Me
      @CanonMatters2Me 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the response. I just ask because Spurg states that sometimes you can feel like you are getting wet, and with goretex, that should never be the case. I had a goretex Klim Jacket for 7 years, and when I started to feel wetness, Klim sent me the newer replacement model immediately. I can honestly say that for the price of goretex, basic cleaning is understandable, but buying DWR (over $21.00 at Walmart) to ensure it stays waterproof is something Ive never known anyone to do. Still appreciate the video though.
