Yesterday I just thought to learn tabla, I love its sound, wanted to see someone online who can teach me, So organized and easy teacher you are Ruparell. I will learn it from your online classes. God bless.
amazing, clear teaching. Thank you. I have never drummed or played tabla before, I picked up a tabla today in a charity shop and thanks to this class I feel optimistic that I can learn. Although I have a long way to go. Big heartfelt gratitude
Wow! Great way of teaching, I am 40+ and I always wanted to learn to play some instruments and now getting Inspired to learn!. I want to commit myself and start learning.
I chanced upon your video and I’m going to dust off my son’s tabla from the basement and I’m going to start today. Perhaps it is out of tune but I’m inspired by your simple beginner’s lesson. I’ll remiss if I don’t try. Thanks.
Sir ji I am 50 yrs old I never had chance to learn tabla because of financial crisis all life, ,I love very much tabla, after watching your classes in you tube, it really impressed me, Sir ji your classes are great it's very easy to understand so simple way you make every one understand, I have bought an second hand tabla and just started following you, it's great lessons and easily understandable, thank you very much sir ji, May God bless you, I love your class, I am your great fan SIR ji, thank you very much once again sir ji.
Thak you so much, you teach and make it so simple, I feel so encouraged and hopeful, I find this instrument very tough, but now I'm going to try, I'm just 81 years old🎉
I briefly studied mrdangam over 50 years ago with the wonderful T Ranganathan. I always wished I still had one to play, but never pursued it. This morning I bought a tabla from a neighbor and am so happy to find your beautifully taught class and am very eager to continue with it.
I m leaning to play harmonium and singing light classical indian music and wanted to learn about different types of taals so searched on TH-cam and quite a few vdo came up and I must say your way teaching is great thank you so much for making these fantastic vdos ji.
Dear sir. I really thank you for your crystal clear lesson. I appreciate the details you provide, best I could see on TH-cam so far. Permanent attention regarding relax position and posture to avoid pain and then to produce the good sound is well explain. I'm trying to learn tabla but at age of 51 I think it will be harder ... The seating position is just so painful to me I cannot keep seated for 10 minutes then need to rest. Too bad I will see in some months if this gets better. Thank you again, merci beaucoup and greetings from France.
Merci pour vos commentaires positifs sur la Tabla. I appreciate it. You can always try kneeling to see if that is better or of course practising for 5 or 10 minutes at a time. Many students over the years have not been able to sit at all at the beginning but have managed to get to 30 min after 6 months of trying. Some also use a hard Yoga block. Bon chance and thanks again.
I enjoyed this video and practiced, but unfortunately right now I don't have tabla. I want to get some. I practiced on a low table while watching this video. I have always wanted to learn how to play the tabla. Thank you for these video tabla lessons!
Not only are you a great tabla player but you are an amazing teacher. I found your video very informative and we'll explained. Thank you for taking out the time to make such a great video and really explaining everything in so much detail. It is much appreciated :)
YESTERDAY I BOUGHT "TABLA"... AFTER WATCHING YOUR VIDEO I MUST SAY WOW.. JUST MARVELLOUS. SPLENDIDLY EXPLENED.... PLEASE KEEP GUIDING US. I CANT PAY FEE YOU ARE THE ONLY SOURCE...
That's wonderful Mohit. Keep your practice going - although I think that you would find the Beginners Course very useful if at some stage you had the means to purchase it.
I love the way you are explaining and teaching the lesson. Thank you much for taking your time to prepare and upload such a wonderful lesson for beginners just like me. Once again thank you much!
+RAYIE. Thanks very much for your comments. A lot of thought has gone into this Lesson and the whole Beginners Course itself, so I'm really pleased when I get such positive feedback. All the very best.
Just bought my first pair of tablas and found your instructional lessons. Thank you, really helpful and informative. Great to have the theory and language to complement the practice. Great lesson, looking forward to the next… off to get some talcum powder and order some cushions!

lol-- I realized at 22:27. The Shyahi is the Urdu word Syahi for the English word INK, which makes total sense for the part which has been darkened literally with an ink (by a maschine or manually). a BOL = a Note @Sulekh you taught us in a reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy cool way.. really knowledgeable and friendly.. Excellent job done by organizing the content and publishing it on youtube. Thanks man!
Great stuff. Loved it. One problem with tabla bols is that same bol is used for different sounds. Example. Ta bol can be hit on the kinar, up or below. It can be hit on the siyhai, on the lou, and even on your bald patch. The tin sound on the lou and the siyhai in place of tuu. Confusing. Should be different bols to identify separate sounds. The system needs updating. Your lesson is the best on this site. Clearly delivered and nicely paced.
Nice tabla lesson. Please keep educating the people who really have no idea from where and how to learn the real basic things in learning tabla. God bless you sir
