I actually subscribed to MyHeritage back in 2018 for a year or so, and did enjoy the site’s features, but it looks like big improvements might’ve been made in the years since. I’m definitely interested in subbing again!
These were a big step in Nintendos handheld devices, the ds was quite powerful for the Nintendo during the mid 2000s.
And now look at the Switch that waqs even moe powerful than their previous and final home console the Wii U which was very impressive.

@wizzgamer I actually was considering a switch lite as I do prefer handheld Gaming over home console .....I Did heard Red Dead Coming to switch which is nice man ngl I'm Not hating But I might just wait the 2 years for the switch 2 man hopefully it has backward compalitliy
I have 2 Gameboy SP clamshells. Best portable design ever.
The GBA is still going VERY VERY strong today. The aftermarket for this little system is beyond any system to date and the copy-cat(clone) are everywhere.
The GBA is my favorite handheld. I remember having that magnifying glass/light accessory, that I stopped using very quickly (should probably apologize to my dad for that). I also remember trying to play it at night in the car, catching glimpses of it with the passing street lights. Pokemon Sapphire, Golden Sun, uhhh....Others were my favorite.
One of my best and favorite purchases was modding an original GBA with a backlit screen and buying an ever drive mini for for said GBA
It would be cool to see Lady Decade do an episode like this on one of the Sony handhelds. Not a whole lot is known about the hardware side of things and I think this is the perfect idea for her majesty of knowledge.

The announcement of Shantae getting another Physical GBA game finally thanks to being fully backed after it was shelved years ago pushed me to finally mod my own GBA with a backlit screen and really start playing my old gameboy games again. It really is the handheld king, even if i love some of the more niche powerful handhelds like the VITA

Custome back lite orginal GBA is the best purchase i ever made. I can not believe Nintendo never made that offically. The sp and mocro even as a kid were too small for my hands
I've had the sp for years and it's never been too small. The Dreamcast controller sucks though, makes my hands cramp after 10 minutes

I would've definitely made mention of the Fire Emblem and Golden Sun games for the GBA, and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, too. I don't even know how many hours/days/weeks/months of my life I put into those...

I loved my GBA and loved the SP even more fantastic graphics in so many games.

The first SP was front-lit (same screen as the Original GBA but they put lights in the bezels to iluminate it), the later models were back-lit
The neatest historical thing about the GBA for me is the fact that there was an emulator before the system was even released.
Granted... the only "commercial" thing it'd run at the time was a leaked Yoshi Demo. Barely... since it was almost totally graphically broken. But it RAN. There was also a buttload of homebrew released for it at the time. Some simple graphical demos and others being full fledged games like a Bomberman clone. On my PC at the time they ran at single digit frame rates... but. I mean... they RAN. lol
I just played/beat Minish Cap for the first time, on NSO.
I regret putting it off (cut me some slack, I could only afford so many games in the mid aughts, and used copies aren't getting any cheaper) almost as much as I wish they'd make a follow-up. I guess "Link Between Worlds" kind of was, but I really like the shrinking mechanic and think that it still has legs. Sadly, I don't think we're going to be getting a new 2D Zelda anytime soon, not when Nintendo knows that they can just dust off an existing one, give it a fresh coat of paint, and people will still buy it.

The GBA Micro's best use wasn't as a game play for me, it was a media player before the iPod and it's ilk. A simple flash cartridge and MP3s and it was just a tiny portable music player that was as good as anything two to three times the price.
To be honest, I've never played any game on the game boy nor even Gameboy advance, that wasn't Pokemon, everytime I play a Gameboy or game boy advance, I've always played Pokemon, any game is new to me. Growing up, I barely got the chance to play a mobile Nintendo game.

I Remember when I was a kid I had a game boy advance this was back in like 2002! I played So Much Super Mario Advance on it! It was a HUGE Step forward in graphics compared to the original game boy! Definately natural progression for handhelds to go in!

For people who don't know an interesting bit of info is the Pokemon red and green were such awesome iterations that they are still being modded today . Games like Pokemon Radical red prove that.
I actually found and bought a NEO GEO Pocket Color. I only have one fighting game for it, but it worked really well for only having two buttons. The joystick is also satisfying to use. It was a cool find, and I may get another game for it someday.

there was actually a mod you can buy that added an LED light to it and shined from the bezel. I had one it worked pretty good
I love the Gameboy Family of Systems but I think I play Gameboy Color more than GBA. I love the Epilogue GB Operator and the new Geek Tech Batterless Save Flash Cartridge. I have a Retroad 5 Plus with the GB/GBC Extension Converter from Ali-Express and a DMG with a GBA SP inside that just plays Gameboy and Gameboy Color. I use them more than my IPS GBA. Very underrated system. I even have a Consolized GBA with a Boxy Pixel Aluminum Shell with Brass buttons. I use the 8bitdo SNES Dongle and the NES Online Controller. Great Family of Systems!!!!❤😊
The NES and Game Boy's D pad and buttons are actually so close that you can swap them back and forth.
I loved the Advance Wars games, Advance wars 2 Black Hole Rising was the best, with the first one being the runner up. I have yet to play the remake, but I intend to!
Metroid looks incredible on gameboy advance- I had no idea! All I had was Super Mario Land!!!
Actually, there was sort of a third "form factor" when it came to those NES ports (besides the e-Reader cards and cartridges colored red/white or gray like Famicom/NES carts): carts colored yellow like Famicom Disk System disks. Don't forget: a lot of those games were originally released for FDS rather than on a cartridge, so some of the Japanese versions of the GBA ports (exactly 1/3 of the thirty titles Japan got, to be precise) actually came in yellow rather than the red/white two tone. Oddly enough, their version of the first Zelda was red rather than yellow. It's probably because that was the only FDS game released in the first two series, the rest of the FDS games (apparently along with the idea to mold them in yellow) came later.
I always wished they made it have 6 buttons like the snes.

What I remember of the gamegear is six batteries for two hours of play. That thing was a battery hog.

I wished Nintendo didn't cheap out and made the original launch GBA with a backlit screen like the SP. Now most game collectors prefer the original GBA over the SP. They'd do their own mods to replace the screen with a backlit one and change the plastic cover with a glass one. There are a whole bunch of mods that will modernize the GBA. I am still waiting for a big screen like the DSi XL size or larger for the GBA.
Sony psp made gba look like some prehistoric technologic device, it had a few ok titles but was mostly if not a standstill then a step back.
I would have preferred this to be a home console for the better resolutions on a TV, and the X/Y buttons not taken away. Those were the biggest deal-breakers for me.

The GBA was a hand held Super Nintendo. I loved the street fighter and Metroid titles.
Nintendo has the best 1st party IP ever made: Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Metroid, Donkey Kong…Pokémon…
It doesn’t matter what new device they make, they are making portable consoles with a strong library.
Damn i guess im glad i was old enough to buy 90 percent of these games and held on to them during the time they were released haha. Even though yes she brought up the megaman and bass port. There were 4 megaman zero games that were stupidly fun as well. And then there were the endless amount of battle network games. Those ones i never got into , but im becoming intrested in. I do have the one battle network game for gamecube but that one fallows a mor classic formula. But trust me dont pass that one up

Correction: The Metroid games on GBA weren't wholly original (at least, one of them wasn't). Zero Mission was a remake of the very first Metroid.

Graphically it was powerfull as a SNES with some 3D effects... but the sound was crap like a 8bit Og GAME BOY.

Ahh, Advance Wars. I remember that game getting amazing reviews so I bought it. When I did I remember thinking this is pretty good but it's not worth all these 9's and 10's. Now many years later I realize how very excellent it was. They put off the release of Reboot Camp for the Switch because of the war in Ukraine or at least that's what they say. I have a hunch it wasn't ready yet. Now I have a Steam Deck and have moved on. I wish they would release on P.C. If you like old school, turn based strategy though, I can't recommend Advance Wars enough. 👍
