Hi, Great video!! I also watched your Skyhunter 1800 setup video from 2 years ago. Also great. Where do you have your CG from the wing leading edge on your Skyhunter 1800? Has it ever had a tendency to stall or get into a spin during a slow, banked turn? On mine when I come in for my final downwind leg to slow down then turn to land, if I don't keep the throttle fairly high, over 50%, if I let it slow down a little, it stalls on the outer wing, then gets into an unrecoverable spin and hits the ground. It is impossible to recover it once that happens. The only thing I can do is not let it happen by keeping the throttle above 50%. Once the turn is over, it glides just fine straight even with the motor off. My all up weight is 3kg, a 4s, 16AH battery, 12x6 E prop, and a similar 900-1000kV motor. It just seems that I can't slow down at low throttle on final turn without stalling and a death spiral. Any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
@@johnd1841 Hi John, that sounds odd, like you're running a bit tail heavy. Mine probably weighed more than that when I had the gimbal on it and I never really had any stall issues, was quite well behaved. I cannot tell you the measurement for the CG but I can remember that I used to balance it on the aileron servo cable channel. Hope this helps. Cheers
@Adam G does FPV Hi Adam, thank you so much for your reply. All the stuff you do is amazing, I checked out your full size Drak build, looks awesome. I myself have been trying to get a mini Drak for a long time, I love that airframe. The full size Drak is a little too large, and the nano Drak is a little too small, but it's an amazing platform. I don't really use fb, but wish there was another way to contact you other than thru here. This isn't the best way to communicate, but it's better than nothing. As far as logically goes, I get the same feeling and intuition as you, that was my first thought as well, that my Skyhunter is tail heavy, however, I used to have my CG right at the servo wire canal, like yours, under the wing too, that is exactly 3.75 inches from the leading edge. I used a few different CG calculators, they all came up with an optimal CG of 2.7 inches from LE, based on the root chord, tip chord, and a CG 30% of mean aerodynamic chord (MAC). I moved the CG first to 3.5, then to 3 inches back from LE, the stall issue still happens. I don't think that's what is causing it since your CG is farther back than mine. 1 correction from what I wrote to you earlier, my battery is a 10,000 mAh 4s, not 16. With the 10 Ah battery the total weight is 3.03 kg. With that, the wing loading is 27.5 oz/ft², and the calculated stall speed is 26.5 mph. The wing loading seems high compared to the usual 10-15 oz/ft² that mosr rc planes have. A lot of other ppl suggest to lower the weight to reduce the wing loading. I, however, don't think that's what is causing the stall issue either. Obviously you and many other ppl fly with the same if not higher wing loading and don't have this problem. My Skyhunter seems to he the ONLY 1 that has a stall and spin problem. So based on my CG of 3 inches, there's really no way it's still tail heavy. I'm starting to think there's a defect with the wings or wing profile with the 1 I received, or with that batch mine is from. It seems that the airflow over the outer wings becomes completely detached below a certain airflow speed, and only in turns where the radial airflow/velocity outward from the center is increased, so lift may drop even more due to that, and that wings becomes completely useless. It's not a linear lift reduction similar to when the inner wing drops slightly because it's going slower. It's completely sudden and non-linear. It's a total loss of lift under that wing. Even the aileron becomes non-responsive. Since you have so much experience, have you ever come across the outer wing sudden drop phenomenon? Do you have any idea what might cause it?
Coming back to your Skyhunter videos Adam as I have just bought one, couldn't resist at the price. It will fill the hole where my now wrecked XUAV Clouds was. (Always do your pre-flight checks...lol)
Thanks 😎 Yeah the Peanut is excellent for it's size. Image quality isn't amazing but good enough. Stabilisation is brilliant. It's the small internal storage space and lack of compatibility with iNav that are the big down sides for me. The second issue might be sorted one day though
Amazing views, and awesome chase! I noticed the pepperbox + omni on your ground stations. Are you still using 1.3 ghz for long range? How are you mixing in the pepperbox with the omni antenna?
Thanks 😊 yes still using 1.3 for long range, and the Diversity Demon to run 2 x receivers and antennas. Unfortunately they are discontinued and there isn’t much in the way of replacements these days. I have a video on my ground station if you check my channel 👍🏻
Thank you 👍🏻 the sheep are used to running away when a car comes so I guess it’s not much different 😅 we do try to avoid going near them most of the time.
Try not being a perfectionist when building. I threw mine together in a weekend and still flying it 3 years later . Many crashes its bullet proof . I ditched the vector flight controller I never thought it was that good .Even the GoPro 5 has taken multiple hits and keeps working .As Adam who I consider the Skyhunter expert said its time to finish it.We have plenty of spare time to advise if you get stuck .
Spot on there. I do want everything to be pitch perfect first time. I ditched a massive sea vixen in a tree last time i flew. Got the ailerons mixed up when i buildt the damned thing and i had to choose between the next door horsepad or the birch. My vacation starts this friday. Maybe i should just build it....

A top notch film production. ♥😎👍👍
Many thanks mate! I appreciate it 😃 The scenery looked great in this light so had to share it
Adam you are the man! 🙏🤩 been subscribed to you for years, definitely one of my favorite fixed wing pilots on TH-cam. Mad skills 😉💯👍👍
Wow, thanks! I appreciate it 😁
Great video m8....That Peanut camera is pretty good IMO...Please put a larger prop on that Specwing, it'll go faster with less noise....😳🇬🇧

Love it!
Thanks!!😁
Absolutely fabulous location and time to fly
Thanks Keith, it was a lot of fun!
@@AdamGdoesFPV lovely video as usual. may i ask where did u record this particular video? thx
@@probante Thanks :) Dublin mountains - Ireland
Excellent video!
Cheers 😎👌🏻
EPIC!!!
Thanks Sam. Next time you need to be involved 🤩
This is one cool ass video!
Thanks for comment 😎
I wish I could fly these RC made by Adam. Tried to find one RTF like his, could not find one. Hey Adam, do you sell your planes?
Hey, yes I do sell planes sometimes. Where are you based?
That's pretty rad. Can I ask the Location?
Thanks, and yes it’s Dublin mountains 🤩

Beautiful video in the smooth morning air. The Skyhunter is back, much to the sheep's dislike...
Thank you 👍🏻 the sheep are used to running away when a car comes so I guess it’s not much different 😅 we do try to avoid going near them most of the time.
😍😍😍
Cheers mate :D
I have a Skyhunter in my workshop.... It's about 20% done and i would hate it to stay that way.
It's been three years.
Ah, time to get the other 80% done I think! As you can see from this video they fly so well and look great in the air 🤩

HOW LONG IT CAN FLY??
If you’re talking about the Skyhunter it can stay in the air 1.5h on the 16,000 4S. When I fly it it’s more like 30mins as I fly higher throttle
🥰
🙌🏻 😎
Did you ever try he FLAPERONS on the SKYHUNTER ... TY ADAM ? sorry mistake made
Hey mate, no I never tried Flaperons on any plane actually 😬
