Lol the intro screech, I let the lunch I was cooking burn the first time I heard this album, having hit 'play' with greasy hands, gone back to the kitchen to the sound of the intro, then stopped in my tracks once the epic drums kicked in, to which I had to go back in front of my speakers and WOW... Good to see the breakdown

That was a great dive into the recording details of making records.
So many people, even musicians don't realize what the processes are that go into recording just one song if they've never been through or seen the process of just laying down tracks that will or maybe not be used to create the fullness and layers of a final mix. There are so many things that you don't consciously hear when listening to a song but subconsciously the ears send every signal it picks up via vibrations in the ear drum and then your brain translates those vibrations into the sounds you hear. It's really cool to have master tapes and the ability to play around listening to everything recorded.
    Thanks

Thanks for sharing this. I love the attention to detail. So many sounds that are not at all obvious when listening to the song but would most definitely be missed if they weren't there. Love this album. Good decision to start with that feedback too - instantly recognisable. I'm going to listen out for those "ahhh"s from now on.

I saw you guys in the SO36 club in Berlin and can still remember the wind machine flapping your hair around. It was an awesome show! All the best from Tasmania! This is one of the albums I always keep coming back to over the years .. and Octopus!

Would love to see one of these for an Insider track, especially how the guitars are recorded and layered. Some of the best/beefiest tones ever!

Love this Sel. Late to reply, but thank you for sharing this. Sure takes me back. During 2006 and on, this was part of the "soundtrack to my life". I found you all actually, while listening to "Oceansize"... this being the actual first song I ever heard from you fellas. I was hooked... This was a very busy time period in my life. Going through a divorce, loosing my job, finding out the employer I had worked for contaminated us with a chemical called TCE. Even that email you and I had, where I explained I had (supposedly) "Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo" (with your priceless reply of 'what the hell is that lol"). Regardless lol... your music, and your energy, were a very supportive thing for me during this time in my life.
Look forward to seeing more of these as you are able!
    Wes

Yep... got em. But as for change... you've done so. In a positive way, mind you. Not easy to reinvent the wheel (The Wheel... see what I did there lol?)... not that you need to. All I am saying is... you've weathered the changes quite nicely. Keep rocking brother. And you know... thank you.

Thanks for this - great insight. What a song to start off your first album with! Really sets the tone. Been listening to a lot of Eternity and HAL recently - some of my absolute fav tunes.
