The people in Oklahoma "love" catfish. I grew up in Saskatchewan and we fished for Northern Pike and Pickerel. They are great when fresh. Thank you for posting this video. You have a wonderful TH-cam channel.

Thanks for another great video. It was most enjoyable.
How nice you all did a family video. Thought it was great.
Sorry about the fish problem this year. Too much weather problems.
Nice to have your dock in and the platoon boat. Am sure that was a big job. Hopefully you will have a summer on the lake.
Thanks again for the family video. Very nice.

Congrats on such a beautiful family! Okay Dougo! There has been a lot of videos of all the new toys the farm has gotten this past year! I believe it’s time to take care of the most “important” person in every family, the wife, mother, best friend, Gods replacement on earth…. Get her a sod lawn! You got a endless supply of water from the lake that will keep the lawn lush and green for those peaceful, refreshing barefoot walks! 😊

The plants in the lake need sunlight to produce oxygen. If there’s too much snow for too long, the plants die off, don’t produce oxygen and the fish don’t have any oxygen to live.

My whole family rides. When the kids were little, I taught them how to ride and we all still do. Just taught my 4 year old grandson how to ride his bike. He is adorable, so little and pedaling so fast, can’t get off of it now. He has a Honda xr50 and by the end of this Summer he will be rocking it. Everyone loves riding ! I have my own motorcycle club ! Hahahahahaha 😂 !

I agree, I've never heard of sunlight giving the water oxygen. I have 7 aquariums and I run an air pump on all of them to break the surface tension and that is where the exchange happens. You can get the same results with standard water pumps pointed at the surface. Anyways I really enjoyed this video and you have an amazing family.. Does the vet know about the fish? If they got into some bacteria/fungi in the rotting fish flesh, that could cause those symptoms.
The die-off would be from lack of oxygen. When the ice froze solid, there could no longer be any absorption of oxygen into the water to replace that used by the fish. The lack of sunlight from the snow cover would prevent the exchange of oxygen and carbon-dioxide in the aqua-plant life.
I love your channel and Larson Farms, but you guys are so thorough, I never have anything to add there.

The grace and mercy of G-d allowed jean marie to walk away from that crash with just a scrape. I don't buy the snow on the ice killing the fish, because water has oxygen in it, which is how their body takes in oxygen. I live in michigan, and we get a lot of snow on the ice, and i have never seen dead fish. I would get a sample of the water and see if it can be tested, just in case you can get sick. I wonder if the dog's got sick from drinking lake water. Crazy stuff happening in the world today. Chet had me laughing when he took over your phone, it must just be like a habit by now. I liked seeing stone, and actually hearing him talk, and i can see he knows the dead fish story is shady. I know he's glad winter is over, his vehicle won't get stuck in the snow for awhile now. I was thinking you need some sod, or some good top soil brought in and then seed and straw it until it. comes up. Maybe you could get one of those hose couplers that let you hook up more than one hose, and a sprinkler so you don't have to carry the hose all over. You could also do a section at a time, get some grass growing, and then do another section, and avoid hauling the hose. Chet should get jean marie on camera more, he seems a little awkward. I see her standing next to him, and she didn't seem happy that he said his one dog, and her two dog's, because she said they are our dog's. If anyone were to judge him because he is moving on, and got engaged, then they have a problem, because nikki would not want chet to stay single his whole life, because the Lord called her home. I would imagine that for jean marie, it's a bit different getting engaged to a man who married once very young, and had been dating that person prior, and then losing her the way nikki went. I will pray for them, and that the Lord bring them peace and happiness. Thanks for another great video amy, glad to have a sister in Christ sharing with everyone. G-d bless everyone.

Winter kill happens frequently in shallow lakes when the ice is early and lays late and you have a lot of snow.
The plants in lake need sunlight to perform photosynthesis to produce oxygen in lake.
Once they start dying from lack of sunlight, the oxygen content in water goes down even faster as your now dealing with the rotting plant material then fish start to die which makes it even worse and as it gets worse the cycle just speeds up.
Their is nothing wrong with the water other than the oxygen content in water went down to like low single digits and all the fish died.
As soon as snow and ice especially melted the oxygen content shot right back up, but now their are no fish to speak of in lake.
It will restock it's self naturally by fish eggs attached to birds.
      I am from central Wisconsin

Such a nice family - I love you guys❤ - BTW, Winter kills occur when a body of water freezes, cutting off oxygen supply. Reduced sunlight limits plant oxygen production, while fish continue consuming oxygen. Toxic gases accumulate, depleting oxygen levels and causing fish mortality. Overcrowding and organic matter worsen the situation. Deep, oxygenated water or aerators can help prevent winter kills.

sunlight helps the aquatic plants grow. plants inspire co2 and expire o2, fish inspire the o2 and expire co2...its a symbiotic relationship between the aquatic plants and fish... the aerator assists in churning the water and dispersing the oxygen and carbondioxide. Atleast that is what my biology professor told me.

I may be wrong but I believe why the fish die is because the deep snow does not allow sunlight to the grasses in the lake. The grasses die and the gas from the rotting of vegetation cannot escape to atmosphere because of the deep snow. This is especially true in shallow lakes. The fish cannot find a deeper spot has has no grasses and therefore no rotting gas

The light(sun or otherwise) is for the plants. It kicks of photosynthesis that produces net 02 at night aquatic plants are net consumers of 02. Search on diurnal 02 cycle. You don't see this on land because there is thousand of feet of oxygenated air above the land surface and 02 moves/mixes well in air. In water not so much, so if you cut off light and don't use aeration to mix in atmospheric air then the plants and other organisms use up the 02 and voila dead fish. My farming experience involved spending nights keeping millions of pounds of catfish alive by applying aeration where needed given equipment constraints. You would smell your failures. Made the possums happy though.
