- The younger Kids in this video are the next generation of professionals. Watching the type of waves these kids are charging is really impressive considering how powerful and dangerous the Shorebreak at Aliso can be. I have said it once before and I will say it again, the most progression in the sport is happening in the age group of 9-12 year olds. I am honored to be watching this progression and cant wait to see what is in store for the sport of skimboarding. Thanks to everyone who watches these videos and appreciates the sport that I love so much.

Absolutely right, Blair. Those youngsters are amazing. I guess the only thing that separates them from adults is that they cannot sprint as hard/fast or carry as much momentum. In every other area, they are astonishing. Their balance, reactions and timing are beautiful to watch.

So I've been looking for a new sport and was watching some old Skid Kids videos, but I decided to look up "skimboarding" today and saw that you guys are still posting! That's awesome. I'm gonna try and schedule a lesson before pulling the trigger on my own board.
Is it possible to skim a surfboard with fins, if it’s dropped onto a couple of inches of wave water? If not, how well do surfboards skim, if you remove the fins first?

i've been practicing my one step drop lately. It's funny how I grew on on the beaches of north carolina and have NEVER seen anyone skim board this way.

I'm a skateboarder - just recently started skimboarding. Blairs backside bigspin is better than most professional skateboarders.
How do you skimboard in Ohio ?
Just a suggestion.....try a warm/hot Epsom salts bath for about 1/2 hour. It relaxes sore muscles, which helps with next day pain. Google it. You can get it at most drug or grocery stores. Old school, but it works. All natural too.
At main beach, Laguna, do you know the history of the "Greater"? In the eighties, a homeless guy lived on a park bench, in downtown Laguna. He would wave at the traffic and everybody thought that he was suffering mental issues. He IS the original, "Undercover, Boss". When that "homeless dude, died, everybody realize that he was doing a society experiment of how people treated people without a sheet or a home. He donated his entire millions of money forward to humanitarian humanitarian causes. That's why the city of Laguna Beach made a statue, of Bronze, in his honor. May he greet you forever.

Just got my first skimboard on Friday! I’m slowly learning and hope to skimboard more in the future
Learn how to get on the board in one step. Best advice I could give anyone. Also watch lots of videos and steady the timing. Don’t learn water drops until you learn how to drop on sand!

@@_Tripz_ yeah man no problem. Which state you live in ? California and Mexico are the two best places to skimboard. I originally grew up in California but moved here in 2009.
@@floridaspringhoppers.7354 I got my skimboard at north myrtle beach at a place called berts surf shop and we went there for vacation but I live in North Carolina and I’ve been to Wrightsville beach which has decent waves as well. I watch people surf in Mexico on yt and the waves there are amazing, maybe in the future I could go to Mexico.
@@_Tripz_ ay North Carolina gets pretty good skim! Definitely try the outer banks out! Probably NC best spot ! Yeah I’ve been to Mexico one time when I was like 10 lol. It was for the Cabo classic. My dad use to own a company called slotstik skimboards!

Where did you buy your skimboard
If anyone could help that would be great thanks. So I used to skim board a lot when I was a kid and I recently got back into it again. And I bought a Zap core 44” board. It’s made for someone who’s 150lbs. I’m 6ft 170lbs and I don’t have a hard time riding the board at all but I have a hard time catching waves . But I do live on the east coast so the waves aren’t the best. But my main question is if I get a board that is a couple inches bigger will it really make that much of a difference. Because I just bought the board recently and I’m having a lot of fun on it but I am having some trouble catching waves. Also I know there is a skill gap and I could just get better but would a bigger board by a couple inches make a huge difference in catching waves or will skill just help me in time?
