To make it easier to remove the tape WITH gloves, try bending the tape onto itself to create a “tab” on the end big enough to pull off. That way you’re not fumbling around trying to peel off the tape nearly burning your fingers as shown in this video (at 4:30)
That’s a fantastic idea. Thanks
@@joanneamandadesigns6534 I tested it and it works. Another thing is if you don’t have a tape dispenser you can do two twirls of the tape then cut and that creates a type of easy grab “tab” too. That’s my go to method I do since those tape dispenser are so expensive.
Thank you so much for the info on heating the base! I kept trying to figure out why the bottom was cloudy.
+Christy Hardaway hi, glad you found it usefull took me a while to figure that one out. Adam
is it at all possible to change gel cartridge on Ricoh printer to liquid?
Dye Sub TV Witch paper is it. The link is not working. Please send a new one to me.
Brusmaker 10 do you need the template link? Or do you want to know which paper to use for sublimating ?
Hello. Can u provide link for mug template? Thank you
i'm so late but do the mugs have to be coated or can any ceramic mug be used?
It has to be a sublimation mug, I've seen people buy a sublimation coat and put it on a normal mug to sublimate
Thanks for the presentation! Just would like to know if there is any special ink for the sublimatio? or just any print ink? Cheers!
Martin Liss Johansson you need sublimation ink... and a heat press :)
Do you guys know what kind of paper I can use to heat press a coffee mug? I have a seeutek 5 in 1 heat press and an Epson XP 15000 printer.
you saved my life man thank you
Do you need a certain type of mug or could you use any type
can you use any mug and ink or are they special ones that you have to buy?
I have the same question
@@AshfanSaja I also want the same question answered? Any type of mug and can i use HTV
Hi, thanks for this video. Would you be able to share the type of program you use to format and measure the pictures before printing?
Hi, thanks for the comment. when printing designs here i use Adobe Photoshop
You can use Corel Daw, Adobe Illustrator if you want to add text!!
Hello, I have the exact mug press and am using your exact time and temp. The picture comes out great on a white mug but wherever there is no picture, it turns yellow from the paper??
You are leaving the mug in the press to long
Hello mate.. Can I ask you a question please? I followed your directions and mugs come fine.. But sometimes they come very dark colors... I play sometimes with the pressure.. Could be from very high pressure? I try to use heavy one.. But most if the time they are like burned...and dark...with the same heat press I see some use much less like time? Could you advise please? My press is the same and another problem I saw is that the platen doesn heat equally on the end it is like 40-50'C less.. But I just put the mug to the other end and avoid that issue.. Just that bloody dark colors.. Do I over cook it or too high pressure.. Wasted to many mugs already... Thanks mate
If the mugs are coming out as burnt then they are either been cooked on too high of a temperature or for too long, pressure may have some part too play as we'd normally go for a medium/firm pressure rather than the heaviest
Fore coffee mugs and plates use sublimation papper as mugs and plates I get mine at a dollor store thay woork
I was told I couldn't use dollar store mugs. Do you still use them. I know this post is old
My first mug is always perfect but another and another one faded ?? Why is like that?
What kind of a sublimation printer do you use?
hi i use sublimation-blanks and galaxy v2 press
and 11oz Dino Glossy Duram style mug
at 180c and 180sec and works great
but i was think of buying sum 11oz Polymer Mug and insert at in this video
Do you have to still mirror your images for a mug like a t-shirt?
Just wondered if you have to use special paper and ink? Can you use vinyl for your image?
You can use printable vinyl, transfer to the mug but since it's not heat transferred you must seal it with dishwasher safe ModPodge. Even then hand wash only.
Is there anything special about the ink / printer? I presume the image needs to be printed onto a specific material?
Hi we bought a ricoh printer and would like advice on which pigment to use
Hi. In your humble opinion, is an inkjet printer ok for mugs or is a sublimation specific printer best? Thanks RP
Rachel Prudham as long if it uses pigmentation ink
I use an Epson Printer with the sublimation ink
Why does my design does not stick to the mugs? Ive try for about 3mins and 200c. My paper is A Sub sublimation paper and my printer is epson wf2010 . What you think is the problem?
I have problems with printing black color, its looks burned
You may need to reduce your time or temperature, settings do vary from press to press so it can take some adjustment to get the right combination
What sort of printer do I need to print the image?
U need a sublimation printer or sublimation ink..
You can use an inkjet printer, but you must use sublimation ink in it. The ink can not be used in all inkjet printers. So find out if yours can. Or buy a sublimation printer. They are the same has inkjet printers, but just made for sublimation like the Sawgrass SG 400.
thank you I have the same question as previous comments, I do not see the download, could you help me to locate. thanks
how do I change a gel cartridge on the Ricoh to a liquid cartrigde? is it at all possible?
I used a submilation printer with sublimation paper, but my image was NOT transfer to the ceramic mug, plz shine some light
Did you use a sublimation mug? Basic mugs won't work, it must have the proper glaze.
All sublimation coffee mugs you can get off e bay or Amazon very reasonable they come from China I found a dollor store where I get mine but beware not all dollor stores are the same product if you try a dollor store just get a few to try out first
Is sublimation mugs the same as color charging mugs or magic mugs
You are sublimation at 180 degrees fahrenheit? That seems way to low are you talking celsius?
UK we work in ⁰C and not ⁰F so yes 180 celsius
Can I use tapered mugs in this machine? I also have a 17 ounce mug. If I wanted to have a a smaller image can I put that mug in?
Unfortunately tapered mugs don't work
Can you only use the printed piece once??
I keep getting white marks come out on my mugs, what causes that?
But dye sublimation will fade and scratch, right?
What is the best technique for:
Bright colors that don't bleed into each other, stay well defined, won't scratch, won't fade from light and repetitive washing?
The print will last as long as the coating on the mug, a good quality sublimation mug should last about 3000 dishwasher washes and is consequently pretty hard wearing. Other options would be screen printing, laser transfer or I think you can us UV printing as well.
how do you laser transfer. I have a laser, and a million inkjets, including a large format....but this is sounding too costly just to have fun with saddle club awards, etc. if I have to buy another printer.
good day, kindly let me know if i can use image transfer prepare for mug. i used image transfer paper and the image got in mug in nice way but the picture would measly remove by easy way scrap off. please help me why this happened .
Emu General image transfer paper does exactly that... it transfers a sticky coating from the paper to the surface. This will wipe or peel or scrape off... This is for things like t shirts or canvas bags to cheaply and quickly pop an image on with an iron.
This machine in this video is a sublimation press. It uses the physics & chemistry of sublimating the ink into the coated surface of a sublimation blank. You need the right ink on the right paper and the right mug to make this work with a heat press
hi I don't see the link for the template for the mug
Murdo Mackay 180
So I use regular printing paper to do this? I've got a photoprinter and it prints the images beautifully. Can I adjust my images accordingly in my cricut machine if I use regular printing paper? Or do I have to use the software recommended to resize my images? Thanks!
You have to have a specific type of printer to do this, as well as sublimation paper/ink. You can use your cricut machine as the program for creating your projects.
@@selenabenavidez839 No you do not need to have a special printer. Some normal inkjet printers will work (but not all). You must use sublimation ink. But you do not have to use sublimation paper. You can use normal copy paper or laser printer paper. PhotoShop works perfect for printing, even PhopShop Elements: Watch this: th-cam.com/video/GP0Sw_hzcfY/w-d-xo.html
My question is, is there something you spray on the mug before or you just print the paper and do the sublimation?
Just print
hi there can you use a normal Ceramic Mug ?
The mug would have to have a polymer coating in order to be able to hold the ink so I would recommend getting mugs for sublimation as they are pre-coated
Dye Sub TV ok thx for the fast reply and much appreciate it and the help
jay I get my mugs from a dollor store
Hey, when I put my mug in at 110°c to heat up to reach 180°c, it seems to stop heating up...jumps down and slowly increases and also just stays at the same temp. I'm afraid to leave my mug in there far too long.. is there a better way to heat the mug? Or am I doing it wrong? Thanks
Hi Aoife. When you put your mug into the press the temp will go down in the beginning. This is because the mug is cold and your press isn't (if your press is in standby mode). So it is normal for it to do this. But only when you put your mug in at the start. If your mug press temp is going up & down, you need to contact the people you brought your press from.
I heard you should dunk it warm water after ? Is this true ? And what for ?
It stops the sublimation process and prevents color bleeding/shadowing. You should remove the transfer paper immediately once it comes out of the sublimator.
hi i tried doing a mug for the first time i got the sublimation paper and the dye/inks and did what you did but the result is a blank hot mug ...ant ideas why
Make sure you're using the correct side of the sublimation paper
Were you using a sublimation mug? You can not use any old mug. It has to have a sublimation coating on the mug.
Hi, Ive followed the steps in the video but my image on the mug looks very faded. Have you come across this before? Thanks
Jordan cook make sure your print quality is high and that you are using sublimation paper, sublimation ink and a printer that has print heads capable of printing with these
Melana C thanks for the reply. All sorted... I had the paper the wrong way round 😞
Is there any reason you didn't use a sublimation mug? Im torn between ceramic and sublimation mugs. I keep being told its best to use sublimation. Thanks for your response.
This is a ceramic sublimation mug, it is a ceramic mug with a dye sublimation coating on it, you will need to use sublimation coated blanks to use a sublimation transfer
Dye Sub TV thank you
Are your templates exact to size for the 11 oz mugs?
Hi,
I have followed your instructions using sublimation mugs, a Ricoh printer with sublimation ink. The mug is faded on the print. I have printed the images as a tiff and others. Neither of them work. I have waited until the temp was raised on the mug before commencing the cooking process. All have come out faded! Any help or ideas of what I’m doing wrong would be gratefully received....
Hi, if you email the results you are getting through to info@dyesublimationsupplies.co.uk we will see if we can offer further advice!
Which is better sublimation paper or heat transfer paper on mugs
joe mc cullagh fore mugs and plates sublimation papper
@@tommymisenhimer1056 You do not have to use sublimation paper. You can use normal copy paper or laser printer paper. And you should spell `for´ with no `E´ on the end. Watch this: @
would you happen to have a 15oz template? or where to download one?
Do you have the link for template please
you did not mention that you need special mugsand special paper and special inks to do this.
from this video it just looks like you can use any blank mug and normal ink
CJ Rocky I get my mugs from a dollor store as ink pigmentation ink only
Tommy, so you don't have to use a special kind of mug?
summer johnson not allways I get mine from a dollor store
73Corbin thank you dident know that
73Corbin question fore you my equipment is mounted in my van fore Mobil I have Epson c88 printer works great now I go to places has no WiFi at all what kind of cheep printer can I get to use out of WiFi range
Which paper do i use to print on mugs like these?
Alphxa Hey there! It’s a special type of paper named Sublimation paper, now there are many brands out there, but never buy Chinese paper.
@@berna8688 You do not have to use sublimation paper. You can use normal copy paper or laser printer paper. Watch this: th-cam.com/video/GP0Sw_hzcfY/w-d-xo.html
Greetings what software are you using to edit? I've tried many. Nothing great so far. .?
I use affinity and it’s really good
Can you tell me exactly what products you used? Links to the products would be SO appreciated! (Printer, transfer paper, ink, heat press) Thank you!!!
Kimberly Rynders I use a epson printer as long if it is pigmentation ink as papper sublimation papper you can get 100 sheets from e bay at a time reasonable as coffee mugs I get mine from a dollor store but also be careful using them
Kimberly. If you are still looking for information about sublimation products etc. Then start here. He is from the UK and has been doing this longer than me. His channel has about 33K. He does videos about everything including problems etc. th-cam.com/video/PyX6fCLI4oI/w-d-xo.html
hi.. what software are you using for the photo editor? what kind of ink you are using aside from the sublimation paper?
Hi jenny,
I use Adobe Photoshop or illustrator to create images and i primarily print from photoshop. At dye sublimation supplies we primarily use sublisplash sublimation ink
Jenny Tan ink has to be pigmentation only
Tommy Misenhimer thanks for the reply...
Jenny Tan your welcome you can get the mugs off e bay or Amazon responsible thay come from China I found a dollor store where I get mine but beware not all dollor stores are the same get a couple to try out first to see I was lucky
Could you use a similar method on metal?
Yes! There are a few different metal items available, it does need to be coated with a polymer sublimation coating but you can buy some things already coated. This video shows how to sublimate a metal insert for for a tin: th-cam.com/users/edit?o=U&video_id=NEvIEG6mVMw
Hello! Can I use my Epson to print the images or do I nee a sublimation printer? Thanks
Hi Evelyn,
You will need to use some form of sublimation printer. they use specialist ink that bonds with the coating on the mug
Hope this helps
Adam
So helpful! Thank you so much!
Question. I have an Epson WF 3640... Can I use sublimation inks?
Evelyn Hi, I'm not sure really, Epsons can be used for sublimation but I don't know about that model, have a look online you may find some! You would have to look at flushing it out as well before putting the sublimation carts in the printer.
Which one do you recommend? Under $200 :D
Is there a link to the template?
can i do sublimation on ceramic mug or or afto be sublimation mug
Hi, it will need to be a ceramic mug that has been coated for sublimation
hi, that's a great and simple video, I have a query, could you let me know how to remove the sublimation coating only? I have 200 of them which are transparent but they're coated and hence in frost color texture now. thanks in advance.
Hi, unfortunately, we don't have any tips for how to remove the sublimation coating, sorry!
Dye Sublimation Supplies so sad 😞 I was excited
Can you take an SVG and sublimàte it
Might be a silly question but did you print your sublimation paper with a sublimation printer?
yes i printed this transfer through a ricoh 3110dn printer with sublimation ink
Can I use Epson artisan printer
Divine Valentin all printers using pigmentation ink only
Regina Warigi as long if it uses pigmentation ink
No matter what combination I used, I keep getting a yellow residue ON the mug from the heat tape. I'm starting to think my tape quality is the problem, but wanted to post here in case anyone had an answer I'm not thinking of. Setting have included 350*/180sec, 250*/180 sec, 350*/120sec, and 350*/120sec but the lightest pressure I could get on my particular press. With the exception of the 250* temp one, all the colors came out good. But that was also the one that had no tape mark on it! All the rest have the tape marks :(
TazDoll16 I suggest getting new tape. If it’s that then easy fix and if not the at least it has got rid of that question.
@@MelanaC I ended up changing my tape and it was absolutely the tape quality that was the problem. One thing I could NOT chintz out on! Thanks for the reply!
Thanks for making it simple
thank you for the info. very good to know
can we use a standard transfer paper
No use sublimation paper and use sublimation ink..pigment based ink preferred
Hi do u use sublimation cups?
yes these are sublimation mugs
Very helpful. Thanks so much for taking the time to share
How do you print on styrofoam cups?

Were is the link for the temp plate ?

is the image printed with inkjet or a laser printer?
ah, the Moog is doone?
Please may I know what kind of printer, ink and mug to use?
Hi Jacqueline, for the video we used a ricoh sg3110dn printer with sawgrass ink and a JTrans press. We wouldn now recommend going for a ricoh sg3110dn still but with Sublisplash ink and using a Double Digital Mug Press
Thank you.
Can you not just cooler-peel?
thanks for the video & template
Hi!! I have an answer...what about the print quality? It has to be an specific brand of printer o the only thing that it changes is the "paper" ? Thank you so much i liked the video
so you put extra tape on vs. what you show people to put on at first so people really have to pay attention or this video is not going to give them the best results
How about a template for 15 oz mug. 11 oz is like shot of espresso...=)
Just size it to the mug you are using. Resizing is simple within whatever program you are using
Obviously unless you are prepared to Buy everything Sublimated in order to go this route, it will cost you alot. Sub mugs, sub printer, sub ink, sub paper. Aughh
So i can just use normal ink and normal paper? AWESOME! :-)
geez that constant beeping is ANNOYING, can it be silenced?
Why is the subject 'how to' when it's already a sublimation mug!!!
Thank you
