The guy who invented it " Tsuchiya Keiichi" or also known as the "Drift King" did it many times in races and WON. He would only drift the corners where it was faster to drift then slow down, like in grip racing, or sometimes just to have fun with it. You can definitely find videos on youtube about it if u think I'm wrong. Just remember drifting, my personal favorite motorsport, was born grip racing in Japan.@@JLfpv
He's also the guy who made the Drift Bible, and while your correct it isn't usually faster but I never said that. But drifting is faster on select types of corners, like tight hairpins if you are driving a car that can drift. By that I mean enough steering angle, and a mildly decent setup. But people mostly don't do it because their car doesn't have the angle for it.@@JLfpv
@jolti9535 exactly my point he would only drift the corners that it would be faster. But racing isn't about a single corner its about a whole lap. Which if you try to link all your drifts, just like in this video, your going to be slower than a grip drive. No hate on drifting I love drifting, and he is a madman when it's comes to drifting amazing car control.
Honestly, I think it comes down to tire compound even more than the type of corner. F1 drivers in the 50s/60s were basically always drifting, but that’s because the tires could handle a lot of slip angle and still propel the car forward. Modern slicks have almost no slip angle, and even modern road tires have a much lower sliding tolerance than the tires of even 15-20 years ago.
you should probably grip 90% of a touge but there are some corners where slip angle and full on drifts are faster. also depends on the drive train. great video bro never knew tracks like this existed, makes me wanna get into tracking even more!
As much as I believe that grip is faster than drift, it doesn't seem like a fair duel to me since you have a lot of experience doing grip vs. the experience you have doing drift, it's like comparing an amateur vs. a pro. very good video by the way ;)
Yo cam here's advice even though I'm not a drifter but from watching a lot of drifting vids, in my opinion you are adjusting the wheel too much but hope you take my advice. Racing or drifting for life
You should check out gunma cycle sports center touge events next time you are in japan! It's a bicycle track that they host touge events on, and it is very popular.
Hello cam. First time on your channel, no idea who you are but I really ENJOY DRIFTING. I am not a commenter but I am a positive thinker. I wish your channel success, I know everyone may not agree, but the talking and drifting does not mix for me (that's my opinion). When cars are drifting I want total silence so I can hear those cars scream and I don't mind if ppl screen while the car is screaming that's fine.
Grip is obviously faster than drift but if you combine to two and drift on tight hairpins like how you said the last corner you were locking your wheels up and on the drift it was easy. So if you combined to techniques it could shave off a few seconds at least. (Unless you mess up)
Drift is slow. Unless if you do it at riga with huge amount of grip and a lot of horsepower and initiate it with about 140km/h and go through it at about 90-100. It can be super fast...
I mean it's a togue simulated course, so pretty much the street without traffic, you know? Just weird to be worried about the semantics when there's very obvious overlap.
I was really looking forward to this episode. Great work Cam!
your creative approach to problems is truly inspiring!
18:34 I’ve never had this emotional of a good bye 😂
I felt it too. I hope he can get a drift car again one Day
Love this series. Cant wait for the final episode!
Cam for life
Cum*😂
Been waiting for this vid this series has been the best since I started watching you 👌🏽
Hope you enjoyed it!
the reason people say drifting is faster than racing is because a racer used to drift while racing to be faster than the other racers
Bro drifting is not usually faster... your losing your power to the ground...

very good video by the way ;)
it depends on the turn and the speed, sliding is faster than both
I can't believe how much this guy looks like Jacob Black!

on touge drift can be a more efficient way around corners to minimise time lik on hairpins
when someone is doing a tandem why dont they make like a phone call or smthing to talk to each other so that their tandem would be more precise
I mean I would be hard to touch and lound . The cars so eh they have micd up helmets though they could get those
higit lalo mas di hamak

Touges are very common in Indian mountains and the central plateus. But we don't have good cars here sadly.
Thousands of Toyotas have now been stolen as a result of this video
you not gunna tell us how much you sold it for?
i almost feel like one of cool things about ebisu is that you can sell your car and get something new the next time.
Ya 100%. If I come back, I’d definitely consider trying an S-chassis or RX7 next. I think it will suit my driving style more tbh.
1:24 with Hana :0
I saw my White TRD Chaser at 18:50
I think if u drive as fast as u can and drift the corners it would be faster overall idk tho
what is bro looking at , the camera is off to the side
Your so good
🗣️🔥🔥
I think if u cut the corners like u do when drifting in a grip lap you’ll get a way lower number of
already here
What’s the song name in the background?
No no no I want cop vs drift car
at 6:14 i actually thought my airpods died
