Couldnt find this song again for years. Then today while I was looking through my old 3ds in the music folder the full title was on it. Im so happy I finally found this version with all the instruments and vocals
I always hoped that one day I was going to be able to find this song. Every now and then I checked on TH-cam to see if I could find it back but every single time I got the same answer: “no, you will never find it again” I even regretted not to save it in mp3 and thought it was gone forever but today, after 4 months of hopeless searches... I tried again and you sr made my day. Thank you so much. I feel as if a missing part of me returned. Again... thank you!
Thank you for your message! I'm glad you found so much value in the upload. I also don't know how to describe how happy I was while listening to it for the first time after so long.
@@braydenleaderofthetirkins1143 Sadly I don't really know, according to the user Felix Fathead in this comment section (he has a FMA profile picture), the song was originally uploaded to Nintendo's official channel and then deleted. But I first heard it from a re-uploader (he is listed in the description in case you're curious but he hasn't been active in like two years) and from that video is where I got the "Music arranged by Ryo Nagamatsu".
This song was the one I never forgot. The ups and lows still never forgot. I am glad this is the song imbedded in my head. It is the pure essence of beauty. My first time playing this game was magical and I wish I could get that feeling again once more. If this song gets forgotten by humanity I would be one of the only ones who knew this. This is a masterpiece that never lets me down. I came late on the legend of zelda game train but so far I am catching up and I am waiting to get a link between worlds. Don't mind me and my glasses and keep scrolling.
I’ve loved this game for many a year, long before the remake was announced even (lost it when it was announced). Love this game so much that I got Koholint Island tattooed on my leg. Easily one of my favorite games of all time.
This whole remake was amazing, but hearing this shot me right back to when I first played the original with my childhood friend, huddled up to keep warm from the snow outside and playing all night. 11 years goes by in a blink doesn't it?
Happy to read your comment! (yes please keep a copy just in case, knowing Nintendo the streak can end at anytime - let's keep it going by any means necessary 👀)
I listed in the original uploader in the description in case anyone is curious, all I know is that he stopped uploading about two years ago, for some reason (I'm not sure if it was copyright) this got deleted from the channel around April last year and I couldn't find this exact arrangement anywhere else on the internet. As of now it's kind of a mystery haha
@@carlosjrg I didn’t know anyone else posted it, I originally saw it on the official Nintendo TH-cam channel. I wonder if the original uploaded decided they wanted it off the channel or something
@@felixfathead1640 Oh I didn't know that, it's pretty weird then, why would Nintendo delete this? I thought it was an arrangement from a rare special edition or something. But it makes more sense that the guy from whom I first heard it just got it from Nintendo's channel
Sure I'll tell you all I know. According to what user Felix Fathead told me (in this comment section - he has a FMA profile picture), this mashup of Ballad of the Windfish from Link's Awakening was first published on Nintendo's official channel. I never knew of that first upload so I don't really know what the description said. For some reason they deleted it. It got re-uploaded on Fal's channel (listed in the description) where I first got to hear this version of the song, the description of that video said "Music arranged by Ryo Nagamatsu" so I kept it (same with the title). Around April of 2020 it also got deleted from Fal's youtube channel. He hasn't been active in more than a year so I don't really know what happened. Around this time people noticed the song was gone, posts on different places like reddit, nintendo and maybe facebook were created. I noticed the song was gone because it was part of a playlist I made to listen while I study, so I searched everywhere but the song was gone from the internet, or so I thought. There were only some posts asking what had happened with no real answers. I tried with Archive.org but the url I used was from the youtube app so it was shortened and it looked as it wasn't backed up. At that time I gave up. For months I kept checking if someone had finally uploaded it but it never was. Around December 2020 I gave it another shot, and tried the Archive.org method again but changing the format of the url from the youtu.be/id to the youtube.com/watch?v=id format (id being the video's id, like in this one the id is arM46NKBzek) and it finally showed up. What was left was to download it, I did it by right clicking, then selecting View Page Source, then pressed ctrl+f and searched for the "archive" keyword as the video needs to be stored somewhere it their servers, found the url where it was stored, downloaded the video and then re-uploaded it here and MEGA (I wanted to list the steps in case anyone is searching for some lost youtube media). And that's were the story I know as of now ends, if you wish to thank someone please donate to the Internet Archive Organization (also listed in the description) because they were the ones who preserved it for us to find. Please feel free to download the MEGA re-upload (also also listed in the description) so in case TH-cam or Nintendo deletes this one, we can keep it online for everyone.
If you mean the plot of the game I can try to help you there. So basically link is at sea and he passes out during a storm. He awakes on an island and basically the whole island is literally a dream of a giant and magical Whale-fish. This is the song to wake him up. However, the island will cease to exist.
I know this is a controversial opinion, but the purely chiptune instrumentation of the original game is more emotional than this version. The minimal, harsh tones make the game seem more bleak while emphasizing those simple melodies and drilling them into your core. This new version sounds great, but it sound like most other zelda games with the only things that stand out are the chiptune and simple melodies.
“You’re as beautiful as the day I lost you”
She was never real goddamit. That makes it easier to stomach...
Then again, what do I know? I'm just a kid!

I can legit see Link and Marine dancing to this while trying to wake the Wind fish.

That's probably why they kept that chiptune sound in the remastered music, just to kick that nostalgia right into your heart
