When you play online you can only hear people when they’re alive and in the same room as you. You are able to use walkie-talkie’s to communicate when alive. It adds to the effect. You guys should try playing it like that on your own time it’s so much fun! I understand that you guys all share a space so that might not be an option for the videos! It’s actually the way the game is meant to be played. The ghost reacts to you talking to your teammates and when the ghost goes into a hunting phase it disables the global chat with walkies and you can only use the local chat and it can find you using that

Yeah one of the highlights of this game is the walkie-talkies and voice distancing features. I was excited to see them play this until I saw that they were all in the same room
Love the idea but I would like to add in something on top of it, everyone has a remote control for a sound effect machine that is in another person's room but at random, they can use it to spook the others if they feel like it.
Being in the same room in real life, you're missing out on the in-game proximity voice chat. It makes a big difference. Maybe try noise cancelling headphones. Does that count as roasting you?
A little tip about using the ghosts name: don't unless you wanna commit dead. I pretty much only say things like, can you give us a sign, close a door, tell us your name, are you a boy or a girl, how old are you, etc in order to get a reaction... Cursing at the ghost or using its name will only provoke it to hunt and you can get activity without risking a hunt going off.
@@MmRrism You should only taunt the ghost if it's shy and you need a photo or to witness a ghost event, and only in extreme cases. You also want to have your crucifix set up if you start shouting it's name otherwise it's likely to kill you outright. This game is much more fun when played right, and still just as scary lol

It's using windows speech recognition, same thing you can use to control windows with your voice. Now whether they did the little bit of setup it requires to make sure windows speech recognition is enabled or not is a different story. Prehaps they're using a studio audio setup independent of the local computers too.

Some thing that would probably help you out next time you play 1: the temperature reader will show you which room the ghost is in usually below fifty degrees is the room with the ghost 2: you have to be alone somethings for it to work but saying it’s name makes the ghost angry 3: smudge sticks and the cross stop the ghost from attacking you 4:when all the lights start flashing the ghost is in hunting mode and is trying to kill you 5: when activity is at a 10 in the bus run and hide in a room lock the door and don’t move you just have to wait it out till either someone dies or activity goes back down. 6: there is a list of commands online that will tell you what you can ask the ghost one of which is asking the ghost to scream :)
If you mean the "Nothing Detected" then that just means that the Spirit Box heard no responses from the ghost. That could be one of two things, either the ghost didn't respond to the question or it was a ghost that could not use the Spirit Box.
Finally got around to watching this. So good. You guys got royally screwed but still nailed it. I saw that fingerprint on the door of the nursery and thought "Another kid revenant?" and then that EMF 5 spike. Man. I was expecting she'd just zoom around killing all of you while you tried to get ghost writing. That hallway is a dangerous place to have a Rev.

The game has an in game voice chat. I believe V is for prox chat and B is radio chat. Using these does give a bit more of an atmosphere to the game since you can only hear each other so far apart using prox chat and if your too far then the handy dandy walkie talkie chat comes in. The game itself has voice recognition so it can recognize things like the ghosts name etc but you have to be using in game prox chat (V) for it to hear you. When using the spirit box (radio) you have to use the prox chat to ask it questions. You'll know its working if it says something along the lines of "nothing detected", FYI this doesn't mean that the spirit box isn't one of the pieces of evidence it means the ghost just doesn't want to respond at the moment or isn't around to respond. When asking questions don't say the name first because otherwise the voice recognition will just understand the voice and treat it as you just saying the name. When the lights in the house start to flash or someone calls an activity spike level 10 then that means the ghost has gone into a hunting phase. You have 5 seconds to hide from when the lights start flashing. Since the game has voice recognition the ghost will hear you if you are talking while in hunting phase and come to you and likely kill you. Walkie talkies also don't work during the hunting phase and the front door will close and lock itself until the phase is over so no getting out. When you get a piece of evidence from a certain room that likely means that, that room is the "ghost room" where the ghost will spend 80% and up of its time in while you guys are investigating. I hope these tips help you guys for your next video.

Reason being: The devs did add proximity voice that does also include effects such as: Obviously proximity (Far away or close) ; Echoing (In a LARGE area) ; A radio effect (Press B to talk "Globally") ; And probably more. Here is some helpful tips: the ghost can only kill when hunting, if any lights or flashlights start to flicker uncontrollably that means the ghost is hunting, if you get in a room without the ghost and close the doors you will be safe while the ghost is hunting, ghosts can’t go through closed doors.
I’d love to see a murder mystery mode for this game. You go around finding not only ghost type clues, but additionally clues as to how they died. You could be given a list of suspects and see if the ghost knows any of them through the spirit box, and see how they react to certain mentions. At the end you could deduce the cause of death. This means you’re able to allow the ghost to pass into the afterlife or something like that, which gets you even more money since there would no longer be a haunting. This is just an idea, and there’s a lot of reasons it would be complicated, but I feel like this game has enormous potential, and I’m excited to see what they add.
This videogame reminds me of your video from Corridor about hunting ghosts where Sam and Nico had to take a picture of the ghost and had to agro it to reveal him. You should finally make episode 2 and get ideas from the game. Like classify the Ghost and exorcise him.
I'm sure other people are recommending this but I would recommend playing this game with each person in a different room that way the only way to communicate is with that in-game directionals speaking and walkie talkies. also that way when you die you can't communicate with your teammates. These things makes it a lot more scary
I noticed the EMF (Electromagnetic Field) Detector, while it went off, the EMF signature at 8:14 was only a 4, you didn't get a 5 until closer to the end until the end, do not put in EMF 5 readings until you get all 5 lights for a EMF 5 reading, also, press v to speak to the spirit and nearby teammates and press b to use walkies.
You guys need to talk through the game, because then the voice box will actually work because it works using voice chat and the ghost will also respond
Played in vr. Said ghosts name. I thought it would warn me with flashlight flickering. Nope. No warning. just an old lady corpse slowly walking towards me. it didn't make any noise, so i didn't notice it until it was like 4 feet away. Worst jump scare I've had in a while.
You should play this in your own rooms so you can't hear each other irl, the best part of the game for me is the communication, cause you gotta shout if you don't have a walkie talkie
You guys have to play apart from each other so you can use the dynamic range audio. It’s a pretty big game mechanic so I highly recommend you guys try it!

Ok, so I work night shifts in a hotel that's over 100 years old. Been able to logically explain away cold spots, weird noises on the walkie talkie, the music in the lounge turning itself on, and seeing things move in reflections... until this. THIS! I was so goddamn jumpy last night. Can't wait to play this game with the actual ghosts! When I get murdered by the little girl on the fourth floor you know who I'll be coming back to haunt. 👻

Should really be playing in different rooms using the ingame proximity voice chat and global coms which adds to the scares. Being in the same room eliminates a large aspect of this game. Also VR is like 100% more scary. Love this game in VR
EMF LEVEL 5: Hey Niko, when you first called-out EMF level 5, it was only at 4 (some ghosts will give an EMF lvl 4 as a red herring, so you need to make sure it's a 5). Also, most ghosts will give an EMF reading -regardless of the type. FLICKERING LIGHTS: Also, when the lights are flickering that means the ghost is in its Hunting phase (this is where the ghost roams the location freely, seeking out players to kill). During this time you need to hide (find an adjacent room or closet, close the door, turn off your light, crouch down and stop talking until the hunting phase is over - your mic is hot to the ghost, regardless of push-to-talk settings). LIGHTS: Another tip, keep the lights to a minimum. Turning on too many lights will trip the breaker (it's not a ghost event). GHOST NAME: Shouting the ghost's name at the beginning of any game is usually a bad idea, as this will increase the chances of it attacking, regardless of sanity level. You only want to use its name if you've exhausted your resources and still haven't managed to find it or get your last piece of evidence. COLD BREATH: While roaming the house/location, make sure to look for cold breath from your character (this is freezing temperatures and can be marked in the book as evidence). It looks a little odd in this game and can look like smoke at times. GHOST ORBS: This is the most difficult piece of evidence to get usually because the orbs have such a specific area that they float in. Also, new players will often mistake freezing breath for a ghost orb (so advice to the camera watcher, make sure no one is in that room). You'll know a ghost orb when you see it because it will stand out like a sore thumb. It has a very steady/fluid movement (even with a bad connection). Also, due to a glitch, some players cannot see it. So it's a good idea to have everyone take a look. Happy hunting bois!

Get a crucifix because that can protect you 3. Search every room for freezing temperatures before setting up equipment 4. Enable in-game mic so you can use the spirit box/ Radio 5. If you see the ghost snap a photo and run 6. Pay attention to the timer in the truck because that is the time left till the ghost becomes aggressive 7. If the activity goes to 10 the ghost will likely become aggressive and attack 8. (optional) turn on in game mics and play in different rooms for full immersion
You guys should definitely play games like these on separate rooms, everyone being in the same place kinda defeats the point of the game since most of it's mechanics heavily rely on players talking through the game's voice chat.
Here’s 10 tips to help you guys on part 2. 1. The ghost will be dedicated into 1 room. It’ll take time but being together or alone, use Thermometers and EMFs to to find the room. 2. When lights (or flashlights) start flickering, HIDE! The ghosts A.I.will mainly patrol the hallways, it’ll only enter a room if it hears someone talking, and you’ll be given five seconds before the ghost is loose. In other words, go and hide in any other room except the ghost room, turn off your flashlights, don’t turn on the radio and and for the love of god STAY QUIET! 3. Freezing temperatures are a sign of evidence, which means anything below 0°C is considered evidence, you can even tell with out a Thermometer, when your character breathes, you can see it. Nothing like 12°C or 3°C, sure a ghost is there but it doesn’t mean that it’s evidence. 4. The ghost will only respond to certain questions. This game uses voice recognition when using the spirit box, a few of them that we know of is “Are you there?”,”How old are you?”,”Give us a sign.”,”Show yourself.” And “Where are you?” 5. Ghosts have different behaviors, some will show themselves, some will not even give you a shred of evidence, so don’t forget to double check each room for activity. You can also use this if you’ve read the book to know certain behaviors that each ghosts has such as... - Demons are hyper aggressive. - Poltergeists throw things all the time. - And Shades are shy little ghosts who don’t wanna be seen. 6. One of the evidences is Finger Prints, you may check every corner of the room with the ghost in it but that’s too much work, believe or not but ghosts only touch in certain places in the room. All of them are Doors, Windows, Mirrors, and Light-switches. So if you’re in a room alone in the dark and the light comes on, shine the UV light on the light-switch for finger prints. Foot prints do not count thought. 7. There’s a 70% chance that a bone will appear in the house that’s haunted, if you find the bone, take a photo of it and pick it up. 8. Press V for proximity and B for radio. The radio will not work if the ghost is in hunting mode. 9. Having too many lights on in the house will short the fuse box, so don’t turn on too many lights. 10. Fun fact the ghost can appear to the naked eye, if your heart starts beating, that means either the ghost is close, or your looking directly at it. Sometimes the ghost will even make a grudge noise when it appears. Use this time to take a photo, you’ll get money for it whether it’s an objective or not.

The game is always detecting your mic whether you're using in-game voice or not, unless you physically mute your mic

Played in vr. Said ghosts name. I thought it would warn me with flashlight flickering. Nope. No warning. just an old lady corpse slowly walking towards me. it didn't make any noise, so i didn't notice it until it was like 4 feet away. Worst jump scare I've had in a while.
You should play this in your own rooms so you can't hear each other irl, the best part of the game for me is the communication, cause you gotta shout if you don't have a walkie talkie

You guys have to play apart from each other so you can use the dynamic range audio. It’s a pretty big game mechanic so I highly recommend you guys try it!

Ok, so I work night shifts in a hotel that's over 100 years old. Been able to logically explain away cold spots, weird noises on the walkie talkie, the music in the lounge turning itself on, and seeing things move in reflections... until this. THIS! I was so goddamn jumpy last night. Can't wait to play this game with the actual ghosts! When I get murdered by the little girl on the fourth floor you know who I'll be coming back to haunt. 👻

Should really be playing in different rooms using the ingame proximity voice chat and global coms which adds to the scares. Being in the same room eliminates a large aspect of this game. Also VR is like 100% more scary. Love this game in VR
EMF LEVEL 5: Hey Niko, when you first called-out EMF level 5, it was only at 4 (some ghosts will give an EMF lvl 4 as a red herring, so you need to make sure it's a 5). Also, most ghosts will give an EMF reading -regardless of the type.
FLICKERING LIGHTS: Also, when the lights are flickering that means the ghost is in its Hunting phase (this is where the ghost roams the location freely, seeking out players to kill). During this time you need to hide (find an adjacent room or closet, close the door, turn off your light, crouch down and stop talking until the hunting phase is over - your mic is hot to the ghost, regardless of push-to-talk settings).
LIGHTS: Another tip, keep the lights to a minimum. Turning on too many lights will trip the breaker (it's not a ghost event).
GHOST NAME: Shouting the ghost's name at the beginning of any game is usually a bad idea, as this will increase the chances of it attacking, regardless of sanity level. You only want to use its name if you've exhausted your resources and still haven't managed to find it or get your last piece of evidence.
COLD BREATH: While roaming the house/location, make sure to look for cold breath from your character (this is freezing temperatures and can be marked in the book as evidence). It looks a little odd in this game and can look like smoke at times.
GHOST ORBS: This is the most difficult piece of evidence to get usually because the orbs have such a specific area that they float in. Also, new players will often mistake freezing breath for a ghost orb (so advice to the camera watcher, make sure no one is in that room). You'll know a ghost orb when you see it because it will stand out like a sore thumb. It has a very steady/fluid movement (even with a bad connection). Also, due to a glitch, some players cannot see it. So it's a good idea to have everyone take a look.

1. When the lights flicker you have to turn off your lights hide because that means the ghost is hunting and will kill at least one of you unless you hide
2. Get a crucifix because that can protect you
3. Search every room for freezing temperatures before setting up equipment
4. Enable in-game mic so you can use the spirit box/ Radio
5. If you see the ghost snap a photo and run
6. Pay attention to the timer in the truck because that is the time left till the ghost becomes aggressive
7. If the activity goes to 10 the ghost will likely become aggressive and attack
8. (optional) turn on in game mics and play in different rooms for full immersion
Please play this but in separate rooms and use game chat, the game chat adds so much
Now it's time for a VR playthough: it is incredible!

You guys should definitely play games like these on separate rooms, everyone being in the same place kinda defeats the point of the game since most of it's mechanics heavily rely on players talking through the game's voice chat.

Here’s 10 tips to help you guys on part 2.
1. The ghost will be dedicated into 1 room. It’ll take time but being together or alone, use Thermometers and EMFs to to find the room.
2. When lights (or flashlights) start flickering, HIDE! The ghosts A.I.will mainly patrol the hallways, it’ll only enter a room if it hears someone talking, and you’ll be given five seconds before the ghost is loose. In other words, go and hide in any other room except the ghost room, turn off your flashlights, don’t turn on the radio and and for the love of god STAY QUIET!
3. Freezing temperatures are a sign of evidence, which means anything below 0°C is considered evidence, you can even tell with out a Thermometer, when your character breathes, you can see it. Nothing like 12°C or 3°C, sure a ghost is there but it doesn’t mean that it’s evidence.
4. The ghost will only respond to certain questions. This game uses voice recognition when using the spirit box, a few of them that we know of is “Are you there?”,”How old are you?”,”Give us a sign.”,”Show yourself.” And “Where are you?”
5. Ghosts have different behaviors, some will show themselves, some will not even give you a shred of evidence, so don’t forget to double check each room for activity. You can also use this if you’ve read the book to know certain behaviors that each ghosts has such as...
- Demons are hyper aggressive.
- Poltergeists throw things all the time.
- And Shades are shy little ghosts who don’t wanna be seen.
6. One of the evidences is Finger Prints, you may check every corner of the room with the ghost in it but that’s too much work, believe or not but ghosts only touch in certain places in the room. All of them are Doors, Windows, Mirrors, and Light-switches. So if you’re in a room alone in the dark and the light comes on, shine the UV light on the light-switch for finger prints. Foot prints do not count thought.
7. There’s a 70% chance that a bone will appear in the house that’s haunted, if you find the bone, take a photo of it and pick it up.
8. Press V for proximity and B for radio. The radio will not work if the ghost is in hunting mode.
9. Having too many lights on in the house will short the fuse box, so don’t turn on too many lights.
10. Fun fact the ghost can appear to the naked eye, if your heart starts beating, that means either the ghost is close, or your looking directly at it. Sometimes the ghost will even make a grudge noise when it appears. Use this time to take a photo, you’ll get money for it whether it’s an objective or not.
I think the game would be more fun (to play and watch) if the players haven't peeked under the hood to dissect the exact mechanics.
