To me, disposable money is anything you don’t HAVE to spend each month on bills etc… so even having enough to put into savings means you have disposable income!

My 3 bed terrace in Yorkshire is £505 mortgage, £120 on gas and electricity, £30 water and £130 council tax and we both put in £200 per month to our joint account for food shop for the month but we’re not big cookers anyway 😂 I know it’s roughly £1,200 total monthly costs

Hi Hannah! Depends on your mortgage payments, but our 2 bed flat (which is bloody massive) costs £400 in bills (excluding food shop) on top of the rent cost!
Food is the most expensive, so if you include food £3000 is probably realistic depending on your mortgage! Our food costs about £300 to £350 a month!!
Me and my gf rent a 1 bed in central Birmingham, rent is £1k, bill including, Wi-Fi, water and electric is £90, council tax is £160 and spent about 200 per month on the food shop, I’d say anything apart from rent and bills is disposable including what you put away in savings and investments
Bills wise would deffo depend on your mortgage ! But for me , 2 bed semi in south Manchester :
Both me and partner put in 1k each for all bills and food
1050£ mortgage
25£ life insurance
31£ pet insurance
20£ water
114£ gas and electric
36£ wifi
165£ council tax
40£ tv licence every 4 mo
250£ -300£ approx on food

I think money transparency is super important we have to get tried of that notion that’s so prevalent in the uk that talking about money is a bad thing. I also think people have a very different opinion of how much money content creators actually make so it’s certainly interesting.
Yay congratulations Han! 🥳 How exciting that you’re so close to entering the next big chapter of your life now! 🥰 I live in Surrey and our Mortgage is around £600pm between us, so with bills, food shops etc, me and my hubby put in £600 each (totalling to £1,200pm) but this will depend on person to person, your area and lifestyle! We’ve adjusted a couple of times with everything creeping up in price, I’m sure you will too 😘 xx
We own a two bed end terrace and it’s around £1300 a month to run. As a rule of thumb assume your total spend each month on mortgage + bills will be double your mortgage. So £800 mortgage assume £1600 total each month for example.
My boyfriend and I rent and we put a combined £2K in each month and that covers everything- rent, bills, food shop for the month 🫶🏻Sometimes we will need to top it up if we go on more date nights (or if I want to do a full soft furnishings redecorate when the seasons change lol) that month but that usually covers it 🙂

I have what I would say is a large 3 bedroomed 1950s house.
We spend £70 on electric a month and an average of £56 a month on gas. I WFH so electric is probably a bit higher than my neighbours. The gas figure includes winter months where the heating is on though.
Food shop for 2 of us who eat fairly healthy is around £60 a week (Tesco & Sainsbury’s). Thats if we don’t get anything extra or need a top up shop for like dishwasher tabs or washing power etc.

Myself & my boyfriend are currently renting a 3 bed house and it costs us £1,200 per month (between us) for rent and bills but excluding the food shop! I’m not sure how much that helps as you’ve obviously bought your house 💞
We've just bought our first house too, and move at the end of June! Sooo exciting, though ours DEFINITELY isn't a reno (you're much braver than us!). Would love to compare how much it costs to run your 3 bed semi in Essex vs our 3 bed detached up North! X

We’re down south too - 3 bed and we pay around £2k a month which pays for all bills inc car, electric, water etc and food x
It depends how much your mortgage repayments are of course but myself and my partner rent which is £700 a month and we both put £700 each in our joint account which covers all bills and the food shop

We have a 3 bed (up north) our mortgage is just over 900 per month. In total it's around 2000 per month all together with bills and food and insurance. We both put in around 900-950 each per month.
Similar, I live up north, 4 bed house and our mortgage is £800pm. We transfer £800 each into an account and that JUST covers all our bills and food. What cripples us is the extra 1k for nursery 😩
We live in West Sussex and we put £1200 each a month towards mortgage, bills and food. Sounds pretty normal
I just bought my first home in December. She's in good shape, only needs cosmetic renovations. Like I plan to paint, redo the flooring. Replace the kitchen cabinets/counters. Get a dishwasher and new fridge and stove.
My mortgage is $930 (All of this is in USD btw), than I have a $500 HOA. Electric is maybe around $200 a month. Gas is like $180? It should go down now that the weather is getting warmer and we can turn the heat off soon. The HOA pays for our water and property taxes so we don't have those bills.
Me and my bf rent in Leicester and our rent is £800 pm and we both put in £650 each for our rent and bills... our bills are roughly £400-500 each month for wifi, sky subscription, electric, water, gas so i think it's not bad but we do live in the midlands so it's not an awfully expensive area tbh!

My rent is 950, all other bills brings it to 1400, for a 1 bed flat, that I pay entirely by myself 🙃 I live in Dorset. 😮I moved away at 22 for my first career job after university so never had the luxury of being able to stay home and save. I’ve pretty much accepted I’m not going to be a home owner till I’m late 30’s/40s, if ever. I’m 25 now, I do manage to save 100ish a month, buts that’s fuck all really when you think of how much you need to save each month to afford a decent mortgage, but at-least it’s something
How much did you have in savings to be able to buy the house and afford renovations, I feel like I’m saving and getting nowhere 😩
3 bedhouse in Suffolk 750 mortgage, 200 gas and electric, 150 council, 40 water. 300 food then other bills for Netflix, Wi-Fi eat 100 x

Love this video! Me and my partner have a 4 bed detached in Glasgow. Each month we transfer around £900 each - 560 is for the mortgage and the rest for bills! That doesn’t include things like shopping though, sadly!
