Just love the old matchbox, they are sweet as is. I think dings adds to the car because they have been around for some time. It makes me wonder where has the car been and what has it been through. You know someone has enjoyed them. Thanks for sharing.
those are registration marks on the fire chief, they put the stickers on by hand. when i was a child you put paint on the bottom of your car when taking them to a friends house to play just to ID the cars that we yours because the other kids had the same cars, there are lots of Matchbox restorers on utube, like Martys matchbox makeovers and Timerider
I had them all new when I was a kid, the ambulance is missing a stretcher with a guy on it, the Fiat is missing luggage, the fire chief car was also a police car, and the "guides" were for the decals, which were hand applied back then, the bus was originally Orange, and I'm sure the white paint was to mark the owner's property, my best friend back then used yellow to mark his, thanks for the nostalgic trip.
I have at my parents my brother and my collection. It is in various amounts wear . We never had that last bus. It is a nice model. Love those old Matchboxes.
These old Matchbox Beaters have their own charm. Maybe you can use them "as they are" in an old Junkyard or an abandoned garage Diorama or something similar. Thanks for showing these.
Thanks for sharing some Matchboxes again. I agree with the other comment, some kid was probably marking his cars with a little paint. Funny how the Scenicruiser is sagging in the back...mine does the same although maybe a little less. These are all great castings with lots of detail under the paint.
Great vid fella. As you guessed the casting lines were added to vehicles with Decals to help the workers line them up quickly on the production line. A lot of these castings can exist without the casting lines and are harder to find, mainly on the very early castings like the Thames van with Singer Decals. Something to look out for.

I love the beaters! I collect those as much as mint loose. I love to display beaters next to mint versions of the same model.
