USDA is, and has been short inspectors for while now.

I'll give you an example. Chicken processing plants can now sell you cuts of chickens that came from birds that had tumors. They are now allowed to just cut the tumors off and piece out the bird. Before, that chicken would've been wholly unsaleable and just wouldnt have gone out.
Now if there is a problem with one of these tumorous chickens, you wouldn't know until your neighbor buys the chicken, gets sick, then reports it.

This happens when food manufacturing/processing equipment isn’t properly cleaned. Proper cleaning takes time and money. Sometimes items that are on-sale are sold out due to the low price. I believe this recall is regarding pre-cooked meat. The grass-fed beef you are talking about is not pre-cooked. It's raw.

FRIENDS, This is how the current Liberal Government and USD Meats (aa/aaa) and other products can reach our grocery stores of contaminated products through our US/CANADA trade agreements including NAFTA and our own Cattle / Produce agriculture needs. The facts are Canadian products for consumption have to meet a regulatory body of agency (health and food inspection) and determine the root cause and corporate greed that puts all of us in peril for low wage jobs that (again) compromise the industry within itself and good paying jobs to be expected and making sure all regulatory agencies in Canada promote.
