Parabolic leaf springs and a locker would help a lot. I would look into a autolocker or something from Australia Check the diff breathers on the 80, or replace/extend them. I've heard that when they clog up the seals can start to leak on the axles due to the pressure not being able to vent. It's a thing on a variety of toyotas. The "hiluxes" and 4runners they had in the states is where I heard of it. Then 80s and on our 76 series Cruiser the rear breather stopped working, because when removing it a lot of pressure was released.
Get a set of revolver shackles for the front and rear, longer shocks and extend the brake lines buy joining two of the standard hoses(they screw into one another) This baby will flex proper after that.
Revolver shackles are a no-go. When building suspension you don't just want droop, you need the suspension to compress as well. Modifying the spring packs should be the 1st thing to do. And brake lines should be custom made to required length. To reduce possible points of failure.
Greetings from Pontassieve, province of Florence, Italy. I have a Suzuki Jimmy 4x4 with a 1.3 LT m13a petrol engine from 2001, all original, which I use to go to the field, forest and mountain along agricultural and forestry paths.
I kind off sometimes miss my old 2.4 petrol carb hilux, but after I accidentally bought a 105 4.5 efi cruiser with 3 lockers and coil spring suspension ( same chassis as the 80 series) I do not think I would go back to the hilux. You probably have a lexus in the single cab hilux??

I'll check those breathers on the 80👌

I like the idea of keeping the original enjine. Why must we always upgraded?

The 105 is an awesome 4x4👌
Flexes like a plank
Indeed, what an astute observation
You should do a 1hdt swap instead of a V8, the Lexus V8 swaps are getting a bit over done in my opinion.
I allready have a V8 swapped Hilux. No need to have another one. A 1hdt is a bad idea in a Hilux... It's simply too big. Too tall and too long.
@@Ruan_Loggiiido a 4bt Cummins, someone did it in a mitibishi colt.
I think I'll stick with the 4y,for now👌
