Idk, I mean they were funny jokes, but I feel like that’s putting a L O T of faith in lesbians (And cis hetero men for this particular thing) to know a lot about home improvement and car maintenance. The only females I spend any real time around are lesbians, and I’m always the one who has to fix everything, same for all the gay men in my life, except with their hair and wardrobe… and the few straight men I know don’t even OWN any power tools!! Maybe being pan means I’m just the maintenance worker for the larger groups. 🤣
Seriously though - Wally is not a trained/experienced comedian. And that is fine - I understand the role that he is playing and he has always risen to the occasion. I totally get it. If I was thrown into that situation then I don't pretend that I could to as-well as Wally does. But his comic-timing is noticeably-improving. Wally is leveling-up.
I love how they always end with Seth telling one of the jokes himself, to show precisely why context (i.e., who's telling the joke) matters. This is what happens when you have a diverse writing team.
Jenny is a treasure! I really like how Wally and the writers have become such a vital part of the show. Makes it a bit more... personal? Behind-the-scenes-ish? I don't really know how to explain it properly.

Many other talk show hosts steal the spotlight and give little credit to the people behind them that work hard to prop up the front person. Thank you for your work on the Census! It’s incredible what Census workers accomplish in a relatively short time, and especially during a pandemic. I work in politics in New York City, where a third of residents are immigrants, so with our comms it’s always top of mind that people need to know they’re not inadvertently putting themselves in danger by interacting with the government in some way. That’s a trust that’s mad difficult to build and easy as hell to break, and unfortunately the federal government consistently breaks the trust the local government manages to build. Anyway, I was in awe of how the Census was pulled off this time around (despite my former governor losing us a House seat by slow-rolling Census funding), so thanks again!
100% believe blak and brown census forms were just tossed. i filled out mine the first week it was live online. in the summer, i think, some white women comes to my door saying with didnt fill it out. but the crazy thing is that they went to EVERY SINGLE house on this block i know for a fact a bunch of people had in fact filled out the forms they still got a knock saying they had not. happened to my house hold, my parents house hold and several others on that same block. no accident. they just decided to "disappear" certain ares with large minority populations.

I live in an area with very few minorities so a Black family walking through the mall is noticiceable. It was a young mom and 3 kids from mid teens to an 8 year old. She was walking ahead and the kids were being MOSTLY respectful and serious but STILL with the eyes in the back of her head she saw them waver for a moment and put up one finger and quietly said Do you want me to turn around? and they all said No maam and got back into behavior only the best people at church show.
Ellen has been coopted by the privileged class. She can't pretend to be one of us anymore. She's too busy defending her rich and famous buddies over their transgressions.
I really love the vibe they have working together and I always find this bit funny. If these 3 are not friends in real life, then they are the best actors EVER.
