    Keep in mind that I've only used it for a couple weeks, that being said, so far so good th-cam.com/users/postUgkxAU9pOCSV9Y5JprooHvfxTpOrt4hx8uRM . Using it at 8 ft. by 8ft. deer blind that is insulated. I have to keep the door cracked for it to get enough air to burn, but that is very likely the wood I've used. Much better quality than I expected for the price. Now if I can just take it easy in the beginning it won't be 90 degrees in my blind. All in all it seems like a keeper.

    Best firelighters are gum leaves but I suppose as I cut my own trees down for wood I always have the tree tops from last year for kindling. I just had a new wood fire heater put in last year Norseman legend 2 but want a new kitchen wood cooker and you’ve sold me on this one. Thank you for this.

    Extra virgin olive oil does not have a high smoke point and is not appropriate for this use.
    EDIT: I stand corrected EVOO is the best for this use and most any other food oil use.

    My hound loves seasoning time. Grab a piece of bacon and throw it on the hot plate. After about thirty seconds rub it around on the top of the hot plate. Then take the bacon off and throw it to your dog... Plus it makes your kitchen smell good, too.

    In the case of the new Bakeheart stove, since you are using the whole top surface as the stovetop, should you season the whole top or just the central circular hotplate? I am thinking actually does it need seasoning at all as because of the ring design you can't treat it as a cooking surface as you can with the Ironheart can you? The one significant downside to the ring design.

    I really like the hotplate cooking, it seems such an intuitive way to cook, for example dropping back from boiling down to a simmer looks like it would be very intuitive, like a sliding scale across the hotplate. As well as cooking directly on the hotplate itself, I really want to cook Massive pancakes on it though I suspect this stove might be out of my saving reach.

    Hiya, Thanks for the interesting and informative videos, which were instrumental in us buying an Ironheart. Unfortunately we couldn't buy from you as it seemed a bit daft to ship one from Australia back to the UK!
    Esse UK seem pretty rubbish in their comms with customers so I'd like to ask you a couple of questions if I may?
    We're burning dry hardwood, but seem to have terrible trouble with then door glass blackening? Any tips on how to regulate the burn to help stop that (we're not burning it shut right down)?
    Also, we're running the thing at 150-200 degrees C according to the stove thermometer I've put on the front of the stove up by the oven 'on/off' switch, but the flue thermometer that I've put on the stovepipe is only showing about 100, pretty much regardless of what the fire's doing?!
    Any tips gratefully recieved, and thanks again for the great videos...

    • @pivotstove
      @pivotstove  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi NIck
      If you use the top air control : the one over the door, you will find the glass will get clean
      if you are getting a "shiny" black on the glass, its your wood - shiny black is a sign of wet wood.
      try this 1st, and you will see a huge difference

    • @hexxan007

      Hi Keith. How long have you owned your stove? How often have you cleaned it? It does not appear as friendly to clean as my Home Comfort kitchen wood stove. I'm not sure I am strong enough to lift those hobs. Please comment on your experience Thanks!

    • @macduff1964a
      @macduff1964a 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The hot plate is HEAVY, but gives you good access to top of oven cavity and firebox for cleaning.
      New stoves look ever so pretty as demo in video.
      After 10 years of daily battering, ours still works fine, but a little rough round the edges. Still original glass in door, ropes replaced twice, firebox baffle replaced FOUR times and the vermiculite panels at same time.
      The hot plate gets mighty hot over the firebox and sagged so not good pan contact. ESSE advised replacement but tried reversing and works fine. Just poor contact over the oven now but if simmering then matters not.

      The flue is critical on all wood stoves.
      If it's not installed correctly, you won't get the draught.
      Also, if installed in a new home, you will need to look at ensuring there is enough air for your stove to work.
      The esse ironheart is available with an outside air intake for new homes
