Alot of people are not fans of Megan or have not watched or listened to her last songs Cobra and Boa which are prior to this one. She opens up a lot about her depression and drinking when she was going thru the things with the trial and social media negativity. Cobra explained how the people around her didn't come to her defense when she was drinking and they were offering it knowing what she was going thru. The cobra reference isn't demonic it is about her shedding her old skin and becoming a new person. If you notice she just started using these references when she returned from being gone. If people new the back story then they would understand why she does what she does. FYI, Megan doesn't pull an Ice Spice, she was here before her and has always been a sexual person. Her fans don't look at her being naked as sexual.
Thanks for the insight we just giving our opinion we aren’t super Megan fan we are kind of going off what we seen based on the video the song still fire but we didn’t know about her depression and the snake references to us it just seemed like the devil is throwing these things in our face but you showed us a different point of view thanks for that 🙏🏼
Ngl this could be seen in different ways, but the non religious pov is: she’s shedding her skin, she is going against the grain, she could also been seen as representing the anime story of the snake lady tale. The other pov is: she is representing the serpent of the devil or the python spirit turning into a snake, using this to show her true self lustful and rebellious spirit. Either way both can be true at the same, spiritually and physically, and even creatively, hope this helps yall🫶🏼✨
Thank you I was thinking the same thing as a anime fan but the world just been showing a lot of craziness so it just so confusing to know what’s right in your face or not maybe we was just overthinking it🤷🏽♂️
In other cultures outside of typical whyte colonizer religions, snakes represent regeneration, rebirth, feminine power, and strength against ones enemies. In this case Meg is retelling a famous ancient Japanese folktale about a snake woman called Nure-onna who punishes bad men like the Yakuza gang members in Japan where the video was filmed. Yuki Chiba paints their faces blue which represents the afterlife in Japan where the bad guys will serve Nure-onna.
What Yuki is saying in translation is "Where are the flowing stars heading? Living while making wishes again Singing with gravity still on Stars gathered in the studio at 20 A hideout with lots of alcohol every night Just recorded a radio show in Roppongi Then filming for TV on a ladder Seeing ourselves in the cameras Love the shiny lights Somewhere dark, burning every night? Nice to meet you, greetings I'm so happy, grateful." Also, the song’s title refers to a mamushi, which is a type of snake that is mainly found in Japan. The idea of snakes alludes to Megan’s current theme of incorporating snakes as imagery and metaphors in her lyrics, which can be heard in songs like “Cobra” and “Hiss.” “Mamushi” might subtly depict the overall theme of Megan regaining her past and letting go of it in order to represent the fame and prosperity she’s now achieving. Another thing is that the video concept is that Megan transforms into an actual Mamushi, a Japanese viper, and strikes, to defeat a crew of gangsters who invaded her spa. She then uses their souls to create an army of blue-faced soldiers in a scene that pays homage to Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa’s 1990 film “DREAMS.” 🇯🇵⛩💴🎎⭐🐍💋💙
