I hope when I get to direct local theater I am blessed with talent of this caliber. She gets it, not just the tune, which she carries easily, but the character and the moment the character is in. The rare standing ovation in local theater.
I am a producer in Brasil and I have seen Cabaret all over the place: New York, London, Dallas, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires... this woman is absolutely the best Fraulein Schneider worldwide without a doubt. She is amazing. Congrats Petey!
Wow! As much as I love Sara Kestelman and Lotte Lenya's performances, THIS is how it is done! Ms. Swartz not only delivers a knockout vocal performance, she shows us Frau Schneider's entire inner life, from the young girl she was to the weary, frightened woman she has become. Brava!
Actually, the nail polish was a mutual director/actor choice. She just had her only engagement party....a truly special occasion, and probably suggested by Sally Bowles.
