I heard a story from a Pastor who lives in Wisconsin. The coldest day of the year it was buck hunting season and he had his deer stand up. He geared up and drove out to half a mile from the stand then walked the rest of the way. He climbed up and settled in. The first half hour was fine but quiet. Then he started to shiver. Still no bucks. He was determined to get one. Over the next hour and a half he got colder and colder until he no longer felt cold. He felt fine. He thought he would unzip his cold. Suddenly it hit him that he was in danger. His tears were frozen, his phone was frozen, he tried to move and his joints were frozen. He forced himself down out of the tree and began to slowly stubble back to his truck. He started the engine and turned on the heat. After 15 minutes his hands and feet started thaw and hurt. He started to shiver uncontrollably. He realized it the same spirituality. When people leave church and get cold they get comfortable. If you can get them back to church when they start thawing out, at first they feel worse, not better. But hang on, better will happen.
Every pastor should preach a message like this. There are Saints in nursing homes that have been forgotten. I could say so much. This is a ministry that has been forgotten. The Lord sees all.

So glad he mentions the elderly. Sad to say the elderly that once were active in church are neglected. Out of sight out of mind.
