Class adventure so far pal, I'm ready to go off on my own soon down the Shannon-Erne waterway, into the Shannon and god only knows where. I'm going to let the river, tide and wind take me.
@@IanHoran I created a whole cabin narrowboat out of a quality inflatable kayak with a polytunnel covered in a 4x2 m silver tarp to make a gypsy caravan shaped narrowboat cabin for one, towed by a smaller, faster covered kayak it's a great way to explore the world, seas and all! Especially in Ireland. You should make one, too.
class loved it thinking of doing something like but droneless can i ask what software package you used for footage cause it was brill thanks so much for putting this up its egged me on classss dude
Hi Ian I am planning a similar river journey on a kayak but a complete novice, do you mind me asking what brand of kayak you are using and where you got it? Thanks
Hi mate, I’m actually away on a trip now in Oz, it’s just a generic sea kayak, I wanted something unsinkable but short and a little bit agile for the weirs on the river, plus storage room, bought it in a hardware in Kilmore quay, they were hard got back then as we had just come out of lockdown
The question is, were there any trees you didn't hit? 🤣🤣 A nice spin but I'd avoid the weirs when loaded like that. It'd be a pain to end up watching it all float away or worse arriving to camp cold and all your gear soaked.
Nice video, my friend! Lovely kayaking! Best way to relax, haveing some whater adventure isn't it? 😉 The nature Is amazing, too.. Enjoyed watching a lot! Cheers from Russia, Ian , and how about visiting my channel as well? I've got something to share about floating, camping, and other! Anyway, best wishes in all your plans and beginnings! Best regards, Yuriy!
@@IanHoranthanks for response was thinking of going in my feel free 10 fishing kayak and because it's 30 kg would have to go down the weirs be July when river levels are low so was wondering about the weirs anyway great video
@@seanlambden766 I went in august, river levels were very low, but I lined up the weirs and paddled pretty fast and straight! Great craic, came out twice!
Deadly video, nice adventure, it's always good to get out
I live in Carlow would never think of trying this fair play man loved the video

Great video, you seem to get back on the kayak very quick and with little effort unlike my efforts
Very cool! My maternal grandmother’s family came to the United States from Waterford, Ireland!

Ah sure wouldn't be an Ian Horan adventure if there wasn't a bit of hardship. Very enjoyable watch
this looks like the belgium river "the Somois"
Just wondering how did you secure your gear, was it just the webbing or did you use other straps?
I just ran the stretchy webbing through any straps or buckles on my bags so if I turned over nothing would be lost or separated from me
@@IanHoran thanks it done the trick 👍👌

Also I have spent some time in your country, riding from tundra to Moscow and at Petersburg and Georgia to Volgograd to Astrakhan
Have u a tracking map of your jouy
No tracking map, but if you go on to google maps and follow the river barrow from Leighlinbridge to hook head you’ll see it for yourself
